Daniel Evans AWWWW YIIIISSSS
Thanks guys appreciate it!
Scias I should thank you for tabbing it out ! . Did you get to hear “satellites” yet ?, it’s such a beautiful song . I’ve been listening to it nonstop along with the song : “It’s only smiles” . :)
@@Danieljevans92 the song also has 9 minutes, how funny is that?
Daniel Evans same song! I’ve been listening both songs non stop haha
if this isn't looped, then you are a monster, sir
Thanks, not looped, but it's fun enough to play that it's nice to play for that long
@@Scias Still a monster
@@Sciasthis is seccs
Always loved this peice by you, thanks for recording it all those years back ❤️.
I’ve put this video on loop for like 2 years, cool to see it become a real song. Thanks for the tabs!
Really appreciate it!
You would have helped it trip over the 100k in May 24
You renamed it.. the new people here would be baffled seeing the cover from 3years age.. lmao 😝
Yeah kinda funny that's one of the reasons I renamed it lol
@@Scias Its as if you knew the song was going to be 9 minutes long, some nostradamus type stuff going on here
I had a mini aneurysm reading the title lol
haha you renamed it ! as soon as i heard that clean riff in satellites I remembered you did a cover of it from mark's video :)
Thanks I've been getting some mentions about it lol
This riff is so hypnotizing. I thought: "well after 1 minute im gonna have enough." But apparently I was watching it 'till the end. Great work there :)
Just come over to this video from watching your Hammock cover. God damn, you can play.
This riff make me cry. Thanks for the emotion 🙏
im going to spend the next 10 hours playing this until i get this just right!! your playing is very good and inspiring!! your hard work shows!
Thanks for the very nice comment and you are so right about hard work, if it was easy there would be a lot more people doing it. I find a lot of music hard
Good vibes! sweet ambience
Thanks
This is what I needed..a long version. Beautiful 🖤
Thanks I'm blown away with the attention this got, especially given it was one of my lazier videos lol
This is amazing! Like floating underwater, breathing dreamy notes in and out. Awesome stuff...
Yesss you changed the title! XD Amazing
Yeah some people mentioned it to me, it's one of my faves on the album
Ok.. this is epic
Spoko
It is amazing. Gave me some idea about playing. Also felt extremely good.
Thanks very much
Excellent!

amazing work man!!
Thanks, I recommend Hammock as well for sleeping music. "Ten Thousand Years Won't Save Your Life" and "Breathturn" are my favourites
could listen to this all day
Thank you
so sad and happy at the same time :c
Nostalgic🙌🏻
This is fucking awesome, man. This video inspired me to do the same riff. It's incredibly peaceful. It puts me in such a great mood. Nicely done, brother. Keep it up.
Listened to it for like an hour in loops... Amazing riff.
Thanks hope you like the vibes
I see you changed the title of this video haha! I'm so happy that they used this riff on the album, along with so many other old riffs they had lying around.
I'm glad they applied it well and didn't just rush it into a song. I hope they do the same with his jamup riff
I'm glad someone tabbed this
That sounded magical! awesome melody my friend!
this is absolutely stunning man. I listen to it when I want to relax. great job!
pure velvet
Sounds really good dude! This is a pretty sweet backing track to jam over as well, so thank you! :P
That is Amazing buddy

Thanks
This reminds me of better times

Added to my favorites.. Thanks a lot, boy...
People always stereotype metal or prog metal as being all screaming and power chords.... but this is beautiful.
I can listen to this forever and I will listen to this forever
Thanks!
this is amazing
The finger position on that second bar is killing me
Thumb forward, usually helps
i

this
+Sickx Sickx Glad you enjoyed, Mark Holcomb is a great writer
love that tone
Left in the arms of the living I shake♪
Hehehe

Thanks
This is killer bro! Rock on! \m/
this is great
Thank you
Well i'm trying to play it clen for 2 bars and you do that for 9 minutes hahaha well done I like the way you're performing it
Thank you very much, I just played it so long that eventually its brainless and all muscle memory after enough mindless looping lol
Great job mark
lol
Nice!
What a fn intro to,,, so many possibilities to run over and follow that sweet piece. Why can't I think of stuff like that? Time to rip it off and ditto loop it :o) thank you sir!
Amazing man !
Thank you very much, the other commenters were right this is Satellites lol
This is beautiful :o.
Thanks
This version is awesome!!
Thanks it isn't my favourite video of mine but I'm blown away by the love it's getting!
love your videos!!
Thanks I appreciate the kind words
Love the tabs
This is excellent, you ended up making it sound even more tasteful than mark's version!
+Holt Preston Very kind words sir but I can't say that's true. I play it slower maybe so it sounds more chilled, but that's mainly because I can't play it as fast as Mark, especially for so long lol
how could anyone dislike this?
I love you. Thank´s for doing this.
Thank you very much ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
I drive every day after work to this one.
Thank you very much for listening
How do I achive this tone ? It sound amazing. can someone please guide me in the right direction ?
My signal chain is Charvel Guthrie guitar - Roland Quadcapture - PC running cubase 5.1 and BIAS. There are plenty other options though, newer music software, some of it's free. Other amp simulator options, I'd recommend hardware based amp sims because I sometimes have latency problems with software based ones. But as long as you have a good quality guitar (or at least good pickups), a basic audio interface, and USB software, you'll be able to get results.
If you have a good amplifier it might be a good idea to get a decent microphone and you'll get results from that as well putting the microphone through an audio interface.
Scias Thanks man. I using bias as well. But i'm unsure how to which amp and which pedals to use. I would guess some reverb and delay. But the tone doesn't get as clear as I want it too. Do you remember your setting or ?
It takes a while to get something good in bias, normally if the EQ sounds radically wrong I go straight to the cab and try out all the options, it seems to be the one thing that has the biggest effect on EQ. I duno if I still have the file for this one but I've got a few saved, next time I'm doing some stuff I'll have a look what the current settings are. In general I'll either go through the presets for a cleanish sound then change it from there, or I'll download something from the cloud, even a decent distorted sound like Jake Bowen's crunch, then reduce the number of tubes in the preamp stage and tweak the cabs and high/low cut in the preamp if I need to. (they have a bigger effect than the front panel controls).
If you do use Jake Bowen's crunch that one might be heavily compressed so if it is go to the transformer stage and reduce the ratio and compression if it's a problem.
Also don't forget to add a shameful amount of delay effects like I do lol.
What guitar model and/or pickup you using? And you're using an audio interface?
Scias thanks man. I use a fender american strat with the standard pickups and I run through an audient id 22. I use logic as my daw. But for some reason it sounds muddy. And if I record my microphone the signal is so low that I have to crank up gain to full and add a compressor inside logic just to hear something haha. really annoying.
camfre4k Just making sure, you're going into the D.I. input yes? Rather than the line level input.
It could be that the gain range isn't great on it, do you get a good level from guitar? Sounds like the guitar and pickups are fine. Single coils can be noisy but I used them recently for a similar riff and it was okay. instagram.com/p/BPgwA69hNIH/, a decent mexican one in the neck combined with a cheapo practice one in the middle, had to apply a fair amount of compression before the amp sim because that cheap pickup gets out of control, far too dynamic.
Try throwing a bunch of reverb or something afterwards anyway. I'm happy to admit that without the effects the tone is not necessarily pleasant to listen to completely dry, even on the Charvel sometimes, but that's pretty normal. As long as you're getting a strong signal just shy of clipping, and you're running high-Z/impedance/DI input, I'm not sure what the problem would be. Could be the interface preamp is really not good for guitar but that's a long shot
😍 S A T E L L I T E S 😍
Thanks!
I get lost in this… come back to it every time I need a mental health reset. This riff is extremely important
Ambience over 9000!!!
Thats some seriously good tone man!
How did you get that??
Also i can hear this for 9 hours straight! Thanks for the prolonged version.🤘🤘
There's always listenonrepeat.com lol
I used to use cubase stock plugins for this, but it doesn't work anymore and I'm on reaper
greatnes...
Thumbs up if you listened to the whole nine minutes in a trance
This is my third time listening to the full nine minutes today. :D
elektrodenio lol fuck yeah :)
I've lost count lol
*plays this song*
GAME OVER.
You did the best you can...
Wanna restart? ;)
listenonrepeat.com/
Yes.
nice dude i like it a lot :)
You are a beautiful human being
Thanks
Thank you thank you thank you thank you
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you
Man, what settings do you use for your camera? I got the a6000 and find it difficult to line it up right and get this sharp in the middle but creamy on the edges look
It's more to do with the lens, use a wide aperture lens (f1.8 or less) and a fairly long focal length, at least 50mm.
This is absolutely beautiful. If you don't mind, could you give us a little information how you acquired the tone? Specifically the delay and reverb "spacey-ness."
trying using a normal reverb as well as a reverb that pitch shifted up an octave! might not be exactly what he did here but that can achieve something pretty similar
Yeah I made it from several channels in my DAW. I've gone into more detail in other comments. More recently I've been using other shimmer plugins though
So nice. . . .Hendrix/Metheny like voicing. . . .thank you!
I like the neck position allot, even more so if it was a single coil, one of my favourite tones. Hendrixy, warm and cuts through a mix as well
I can meditate to this.
lol
Awesome Job brother.... Could you show us how you got this delay sound ??? PLS
I've been trying to think of the best way to show how to do this, on my primitive setup. Don't worry I read these comments and always try to consider it. It will just take a while because I want to get decent equipment and do better quality content and hopefully lessons.
Sure I understand that ...... Waiting eagerly bro. Keep up the good work.
Really nice stuff - easy to get lost in a looper/delay world :p We've got the same guitar too :D
+Paul MacEwan (pmacguitarist) Awesome sir! Mines in the case most of the time, trying to keep that great chocolate smell intact! I never have much time to play it these days anyway
+Scias yeah, the smell is awesome - be sad when it goes!
+Paul MacEwan (pmacguitarist) It is normal for a new guitar to have that smell? Mine also smells like chocolate when I take it out of it's case.
+Tomi Tomescu never had one that smells like this but it may be due to the roasting and the fact there is not much in the way of coating. Charvel are putting a bit more protection on the newer ones now.
+Paul MacEwan (pmacguitarist) Oh, good thing that you mentioned the brand, I just asked you about the kind of guitar you use, but in another video you made. Can you tell me what model is this one?
so smooth. i could listen to this for hours. what kind of delay was used in this?
protone haunted i think
thanks!
Hi, I used the default effect plugins that come with Cubase 5
Just keep on playing this 'till the end of time
Thanks
I tabbed it on pen and paper, play it almost every day,
Nice, it used to relax me playing this
Is this the djammy from his haunted delay video? .Sweet tune
二cえ420待て
thanks for the tabs sir. sic cover and nice tone. btw, what camera and lens are you using? TIA.
Canon DSLR with 50mm f1.8 lens
Thank you sir.
That double slide at 7:20 🥰🥰🥰
Those mistakes lol but sometimes they sound okay
I actually sat through the whole thing 0_0
Thank you very kind words
Reminds me of Haunted shores stuff, nice.
Thanks
put valhalla ubermod in tape delay mode in front of any clean channel amp sim and you have an even closer tone to the original, just like mark did
Thanks
The tone here is great man, I take it it's mostly cause of the pickups you're using?
+Yojimbo711 I would say so. The super jumbo frets also make the slides feel and sound really smooth.
+Scias Aye, what pickups are these?
Yojimbo711 I don't know if they have a name but they're made by Michael Frank Braun for this Charvel Guthrie guitar. I was using the neck pickup for this video. If you can't get your hands on these I would definitely recommend trying John Suhr's SSV and SSH+ pickups as an alternative though.
Noted, thank you
I love the tones brother. Any quick advice to help me with phrasing? I'm still stuck in these Pentatonics. 😔
That's a colossal topic, but off the top of my head right now, a lot of people underestimate timing and tightness with improvising. Don't worry about mistakes too, try to keep going if you make a mistake. Also learning arpeggios is important so you can play over chords rather than play over a key
🙏❤️️ *Cosmic* ❤️️🙏
Dhop launch into the cosmos
I see You had a really nice suspension during perform that riff. Something like 9 minutes trance...
This was so long ago, but I probably was in a specific vibe while recording it. Thanks, take care
@@Scias take care too 🤘
Terrible loco! :)
How your delay tone use for this cover ?? Any gears can share ??
This was stock plugins. Volume envelopes, chorus, reverbs and delays
Really love ur playing. I used to use Ernie balls. But I recently switched to daddario nyxl and loved d change. Was going through d store and he suggested me to try these nyxl or regular xl balanced tensions.. so I was wondering.. shall I continue with regular gauge or try d balanced tension one's . Which ones do u find better ? Also shout out to ur playing. I also own prs tremonti se. and love ur playing
hi scias can I talk to u for a min.
I've used EBs and NYXLs they are both great, didn't notice a huge difference between them. At the moment I'm using Rotosounds because the Charvel came with them.
The PRS is a shorter scale length so if you are going anywhere further than drop D, for example drop C, I'd strongly recommend using 10s at the very least. For drop D though you can use whatever gauge you are used to, 9s can do drop D no problem even on a 25inch scale length. If your bridge is set up to be floating, and you want to use a drop tuning just by dropping the 6th string by two semitones, you can take Guthrie Govan's advice if you use a 46 on the 6th string, you can use a 52 for the same tension in drop D. I personally wouldn't like to change to a balanced set as it actually has a lower gauge 6th string (from the examples I've seen), this would not do any good for drop tunings.
Can you let me know what tuning you want to use, and what gauges you normally play? I might be able to answer the question better then. If you are using standard tuning you could try the balanced set and see if you like it. I've never tried it.
Hi I've messaged u on facebook.
Delay settings pleeeeeeasssseeee this sounds amazing
1 channel with just a dry tone, another channel with volume envelopes, light chorus, amp sim, multiple delays and reverb units afterwards in cubase
Thanks brother!
No problem!
guitar?
Man, I wish I was good enough to decipher chords and play songs like this. Too bad I don't practice enough...
There are tabs here and elsewhere on my channel, you never know you might surprise yourself even without learning too much findamentals. I learned some piano without much fundamental training, but happy with the kind of songs I can play on it, worth a try just for the enjoyment. Take care thanks very much for the support
