I just recently bought some new recording gear as the last time I recorded anything was with a Digi 002 & Protools LE (lol, it's been a minute but I'm excited to start recording music again.) Anyways, I've downloaded LUNA but I've also been experimenting with Studio One and I just like that you've provided this info and I'm able to follow your instructions. THANK YOU!
So I see that 3-4 virtual is getting the tape....cool. Hows it getting the neve summing channel? And the monitoring is coming out of Luna through main outs since u didn't change that right?
@@Ast3rixMusic oh ok. Makes sense. Didn't realize that was the master. Do u think it would be that much better neve summing all channels even if it was all in Luna (to avoid the nightmare routing if it was at all possible)
I don’t see the benefit in doing so personally. When it’s on the master it is performing the same type of coloration as it would be on the individual channels. It would allow you to individually tweak the settings... then be affected at the end of the chain.
@@Ast3rixMusic hmm, ok I was thinking it would be that much saturated and maybe more vibey since each track would hit the neve emulation pathways different. I don't know...my imagination is all I'm using here. Definitely gonna try what u have here and report back
very interesting, i want to take advantage of this but don't know how to go about exporting the final mix so i can hear the Neve Summing effect in the file? also, would you recommend putting the final limiter in the main output of LUNA or in Studio One? i'm not sure if the summing and tape in LUNA hit the main output in Studio one first or if it is after all the plugins in the studio one main out signal flow
@@dannyboycinco personally I like to record the audio from Ableton into Luna. This allows me to do further mix work in Luna. The virtual track which is a stereo mix can be modified like any other track in Luna. If you record to track you can bounce out from Luna.
@@Ast3rixMusic ah i understand this now! thank you for the detailed response! Just wish we could get this summing plugin as a 3rd party plugin outside of LUNA! it sounds so good!
I believe you just prevented me from either returning my Twin X, or ditching Studio One for Logic. I'm very new to this, so correct me if I'm wrong. I have some DI guitar tracks and everything sounds great within Console, but whenever I insert my UA amp, eq and comp within Studio One, the playback is just missing life, so to speak. It sounds far less real. I tried recording in Luna tonight and it all sounded great, so I'm guessing this is a safe route, yeah?
Great news! Since i have an apollo x8p and a presonus studiolive 64s it should be possible to use Studio One in daw-mode and get luna neve summing on top, right?
Yes you can use those virtual connections to create a link to LUNA. I use it as my console and I'm able to use those exclusive plugins that are only available to LUNA. It doesn't add a huge resource load to my pc as I'm using mostly UAD plugins inside of it outside of a few mastering effects. I can only suggest you research before purchasing. Make sure your comfortable with what's required to make it work.
Yes you can point the main to a virtual port which you can create a track inside Luna and use all the normal Luna based audio tools on. I found however in my testing it wasn’t needed to reduce latency. Also recently I found what was causing additional latency in my setup. I was using the pt mode settings for my port setup in the uad console which has extra processing.

Have fun!!! That's what it is all about Doing something you love to do!!!
Genius!! I love it so so smart
"Never Met a Wiseman, If so It's a Woman" Thank You so Much for this!!
You’re welcome!!!
ok...you're a genius. love it. I'll have to watch maybe one more time (or twice) to get it though :)

Ife Love I’m running the neve summing on the master only. Keeping things simple... it sounds amazing thou!!

I transfer my final to Luna. The plugins sound great and the addition of that neve bus plugin just adds warmth I wasn’t getting in Ableton.
Presonus is my choice I never knew they can work together I love u damit
nice info 💯
Appreciate it...

Is this possible for Logic Pro

sorry to ask but how would i set it up on logic.
@@HuhGrant I believe you can change ports in the preferences menu under audio.
you can do the same with protools 12?
The Karate Kid yes, same principles i used on all the others. You need to create a virtual channel and switch from using the main outs.
