good video, but I can tell Mr Garlock is still feeling like this is a live video, because on a recorded video you only need to mention something like the SGF file or the direction of the video series once per video. Generally you should assume (especially when making a video 30 minutes) that people plan on watching the whole thing

Garlock still has such an irritating attitude. He's now lecturing everyone multiple times to have the SGF ready while watching the video, and it's nowhere to be found.
Why are you trying to control Michael's time again? I thought we had been all through this. We are very lucky to have every minute that he can spare. Please let him take as much time as he likes.
I like the series, but I feel Mr Garlock is always a bit impatient and feels the pressure to speed things up or make Mr Redmond rush through things which he thinks might be uninteresting to the viewer. Most people who love go and watch this are very thankful for Mr Redmonds explanations plus there is always the possibility to skip parts in a video should someone for whatever reasons be bored by historical background, or detailed explanations. I am sorry to say that, but I think Mr Redmond deserves a co-moderator who is more interested and can appreciate this opportunity to talk to an eloquent and conscientious professional player. Also- who sets the time length to 30 min? Its completely arbitrary- this is a youtube video. Does he have such a stressful life that he cannot take more time or what? Quite rude in my opinion. I could understand it the other way around, but when the unimportant guy rushes the important guy (not meant personal but this is about go and Redmond is the obvious star of this series) it feels so awkward.
Thanks a lot for the video, although half an hour still feels rushed to me ^^; I'd really like to see the board get filled a bit somehow and have a feel for what the middle game will look like before the review ends... But I know, I know: there's an sgf with every details in it... Even so, having an overview of the game on video would be pretty cool :p But don't get me wrong: I'm still glad this series exists, so keep up the good work! :)
This is how I imaniged how I wanna play go, when I started and reached SDK. But in the end you need amazing reading skills for this flexible style to work, which I never developed, so Im still stuck at low dan, but this playstyle just feels so good. :D
Dosaku's games themselves may not be in it's "DNA" but the great thing about the history and evolution of Go is that Dosaku is in modern player's DNA, and they are in Alpha's makeup. Ipso Facto, QED, etc etc
Thank you guys so much for making these videos! This addition to the community is not only welcome but very fun to watch, I hope in the future we can have even more of Mr. Redmond's time for these :D

Fujisawa was the first to get to 9 dan from the go association's promotional system - before then it was a ceremonial rank that only one player could hold at a time. You'd want to look up "Meijin" and "Godokoro" to know more.

So true. Mr Garlock's behaviour is rude- obviously he has no real interest in Mr Redmond's insights so why does he even bother to do these videos?

Thank you! I knew a little bit about Meijin but never heard of Goddokoro. so dan system existed then but not official?
