What I like about the Soul Calibur incarnation of Link is that it shows that Link isn't just a guy who simply strafes around holding up his shield while waiting to strike at the right time, it shows that he is a well capable fighter who can fight against skillful swordsmen and fighters. The Hero of Time is more than just courage.
The hero of time has nothing to fear of those muppets, he is the best swordsman, also, is any of them saved the world from an nearly immortal fiend called Ganon ? No, they don't, Soul Edge is a joke compare to, it can be defeated by any sword, any weapon, no need to be legendary or blessed. Ganon can only be defeated by the Master Sword.
Ironically in an actual swordfight hiding behind your shield is basically what youll be doing for the entire duration.You an your opponent just prod at each other waiting for an opening. After all why wouldnt you?

I first discovered this game back in 2013, around Easter actually. By far, one of coolest, most badass fighting games I have ever had the privilege of playing. God, I wish my Gamecube was working again.
This shit was dope when it happened, I think Iwata (or Miyamoto) at the time when it came out told Namco, "Link must win if he's to be in the game" which is why he's super OP, I remember this reveal leaked early in gaming forums which made Sony and Microsoft FURIOUS they later gave them Spawn and Heihachi as their exclusives late in development. I'll never know why 3 was PS2 exclusive, all I know is that it wouldve been cool to see another Nintendo rep in a future title (Maybe a Fire Emblem rep) , but it never happened as the series director left Namco after Soul Calibur 6.
When I first played 2 and saw Inferno with Soul Calibur, I thought he was imprisoning it so its power can't be used against him. But now that I know the true origin of the 'Holy Sword', I think he was trying to become complete once again, but the now opposite power wasn't melding well with it and actually did more harm than good.

I just bought Link's Soul Edge in Soulcalibur 2 and it is awesome. Soul Edge inflicts some serious damage. I just played the Extra Arcade mode as Link wielding Soul Edge and went through the whole Extra Arcade mode undefeated. I think Soul Edge is well worth the price of a bit of health.
They actually did an HD port for the PS3/360. From what I heard, it was a very poor job. I just went and bought the PS2 version instead since it was dirt cheap
Real talk though, Link probably crushes most of Soulcalibur's characters. There's only two that I can think of where he might struggle with: Cervantes and Nightmare. Cervantes because he's a ghost, and the phantoms and poes Link has fought don't measure up. Nightmare because, last I checked, Link has never had to defend against his soul being eaten. Besides them, Link would waste most of the verse without too much difficulty. He's fought monsters and demons a'plenty, posesses powerful magic and a diverse array of weapons and items, and has plenty of holy artifacts.

Pops introduced me to this game on Dreamcast so when 2 came out I told him it was dire I get the Gamecube version as well as his xbox version because I loved zelda he loved spawn as characters. We played eachother on both consoles and I was sent to bed early alot because of the whooping I was giving him 😂😂 I miss that man

Last night, I was thinking it'd be cool if the SC series could come up with a new concept. I was thinking Stone Blade. On the Edge Master mode, you collect Storm Stones each with the ability to give your sword the power to use an element dependant on the weather, for example, lightning abilities through a thunderstorm. Once you collect all Storm Stones, you can change the weather and use the elements as you please. The Soul Edge and Soul Calibur will still be in the game. Also in arcade mode, the final boss will have all Storm Stones and use them against you.

Bought this game just for Link. It ended up becoming one of my favorite fighting games ever made.
It’s a hidden gem. Star fox assault is also a great time. Need to revisit these and see if they hold up to this day

Link was the guest character in Soul Calibur 2 for the Gamecube only. Xbox and PS2 had their own guest characters but Link was Gamecube only.

Pops introduced me to this game on Dreamcast so when 2 came out I told him it was dire I get the Gamecube version as well as his xbox version because I loved zelda he loved spawn as characters. We played eachother on both consoles and I was sent to bed early alot because of the whooping I was giving him 😂😂 I miss that man

I could’ve sworn he was able to throw bombs in this game or did the guy playing just didn’t throw any. Man this game brings back memories. Remember my cousin had the Xbox version with spawn and he wanted to switch consoles for a week just to play as link lol my mom did not approve. Oh how time flies 😅

Last night, I was thinking it'd be cool if the SC series could come up with a new concept. I was thinking Stone Blade. On the Edge Master mode, you collect Storm Stones each with the ability to give your sword the power to use an element dependant on the weather, for example, lightning abilities through a thunderstorm. Once you collect all Storm Stones, you can change the weather and use the elements as you please. The Soul Edge and Soul Calibur will still be in the game.
Also in arcade mode, the final boss will have all Storm Stones and use them against you.
