Great photography. You are right to criticise the thickness, the Baltany 1921 with an angled dial is only 10.5mm thick with a choice of two automatics, Sea-Gull or Miyota 9039.
Thank you Shane. This checks almost all the boxes for me and the things it doesn't check I don't mind at all. The thickness isn't that bad and the fixed lugs makes it a bit special. Would I recommend this as a one watch collection? Nope! But as an enthusiast I can see having this in the collection. Great review and grey photography as always.
I have a Vario Trench as well. Finding 2 piece straps is not impossible. Vario does make another two piece style with fold over metal tabs that don't show on the topside of the strap when installed. I also make some of my own straps and plan to stitch it one to the watch. If it wears out or I get tired of it I can cut the stitches and remove it. Fun watches at reasonable prices.
I really like the case. And Vario makes some great vintage style watches. Their Empire Line is some of the most beautiful watches out there. The movement is a little disappointing though. Thanks for the great review as always.
I love Vario's watches. The only reason I don't plan to purchase the 1918 Pilot is I'm left-handed and I wear my watches on my right wrist. But I'll definitely be looking forward to their next creation.
I finally found a watch youtube channel that doesn’t make me want to punch myself in the face. (It’s a vibe, roll with it.) I like this watch save the lack of hacking.
Hi Thanks for your video. I still have the question: in Vario’s oficial website they’ve written 10mm for this Pilot watch’s height. Isn’t that true ? Cherry !
Good review! It seems Vario is kinda stuck. Where other micro brands are increasing value with better specs, they seem to be doing almost the same designs with no real specs.
I lik evarios design but I think they should reconsider the logo. Or at least the V letter. It doesnt look vintage at all and for me it kind of ruins the whole vintage vibe this watch and also the whole brand is going for.
I wish they did the white dial with the orange numbers like the trench watch. I like this movement better than the one in the trench watch.

I prefer the aesthetic/design of the Vario to that of Baltany.
Killing it you always have clairvoyant well rounded interesting videos. relative time is the shit.
Thanks man! 🤜

Good review. Thank you. Agree about "thickness."

That trench watch is a Beauty I like the Bronze version!
I love my Vario 1918 Trench watch. Superb.

I didn't even think about that, that would make it harder to use. I wonder if he could make a few left handed versions.
Same. I'm still planing on getting one.
Thanks for the feature :)
I figured that when Vario dropped the 1945 ("Dirty Dozen").That he was working his way through the wars. I was looking for a 1970's field issue.
Wears very well. Recommended.
Cool timepiece. I wish Ivan & Judy could bring back the Empire white tuxedo.
Cosplay-watch nailed it, dood 😅👊! Awesome!

Well they did release the 9075 based Empire GMT recently, but that's it. Everything else they have tried to keep entry level and affordable.
Vario-us options from Vario these days, but always with a "past" hint
😁👍
As a lefty the 45° dial would make it quite awkward to read
That's something I didn't even think about. I wonder if they could turn the dial upside down and make it a Left handed version.
For actual pilot work I want something like the Laco Frankfurt or Hamburg DIN GMTs, but not $3000.

Chipped out on the movement here. Pretty disappointed. 400$ is enough money
Poor lume? WHY?? At that price.....
