Good morning young man. Looks cool this morning. Nice trap boiler. You sure have some nice traps and a lot. I would say your ready for the season for sure. Have a great day.
Good mornin' to you and the missus. Gettin' excited watchin' you get ready to make a dent in that wolf population! LOL. Can't hardly wait till you take us along to set yer line(s). Thank you, have a great day and be safe. Beautiful sunny (cold) day here in the North Atlantic. Only a bit of ground cover of the white stuff yet. They tell us we're now due fer a coupla days o' wet snow and gale force wind. We'll take it all in stride.
Good Afternoon !!! Hope you have some snappin traps this year!!! 15 here this also. 25 to 30 mph gusts blowing through. Lazy day today. Run all around with a friend looking at tractors & equipment. Checked out couple solar systems. Groceries , even hit the liquor store for some good ole Southern Comfort!!! Good sippin!
There is a lot to it really. After you boil them, you don't want to touch them without gloves either. Thanks Loren! I hope things are going well for you folks.
Good mornin and many blessings. Dang mice. Now you need some "Waffle" traps in your wolf trap boxes. Cool show Gary. I love learning something new everyday if I can. Although I don't think I'll be setting the 1 trap I have it was good to learn a little bit from a pro. Between You & Idaho Hillbilly this morning I have been to school & church this morning. In a couple hours I will go find out if the Radiation did it's job or not? Thanks for sharing your yesterday. Finding You and Kevin's channels truly has made my mornings a lot better than they were.
Good morning! Here's praying for good news for you. Dang scary.... The mountains really are a church....better in most ways I think. It's hard to hear God with a preacher and a bunch of folks yapping. The quite of a mountain top, lets you hear him a lot better.
@@MuskratOutdoors Thank you Gary. Of course this is TH-cam but it really does mean a lot when people like you reply with best wishes. I thought I was going to find out last month but that was the CAT scan. Today is the real day since they viewed the scan. Thank you for always having a kind word to share.
Good morning Gary. Those damned mice! I hate those little buggers. They get into everything. I would be re-waxing them too. I caught a wolf on the muzzle one time because it smelled the trap and pushed his nose down into the snow. It bled like a stuck pig. I like those action packers. Nothing gets into them. They are nice and strong. I have a few but they are so expensive now. Up here, the big ones are over $100. Ridiculous! Have a good day my friend.
Wow.....yeah, that would be bad! It's a natural smell that probably wouldn't repel them, but they would sniff around the trap for sure. Did the wolf stay caught, or get away?
@MuskratOutdoors , It got away. It drug the trap out into the middle of the slough and eventually pushed the trap off. I sure left a blood trail though. Must of had a wicked nose bleed.
I have this vision in my head. You as Santa, on a dog sled being pulled by burros. Of course, traps hanging from the sides with a scabbarded lever action. I only wish I had the artistic ability to turn that into a sketch or a painting! On Dasher? LOL.
Good morning! Daggone mice anyway.im gettin excited and im not even the one trapping.i pray the wolves cross your lines and you do well.thats quite a few traps.i believe jack was a speaker at my wolf trapping class.i still have the snare he made us.there is alot of people doing it up here in north idaho and you can tell.even the moose and mule deer are coming back.thanks again and have a great day!
Good Morning Muskrat, I really dislike mice and rats, especially pack rats. They really do smell bad. 😢 I have a few Blake and lamb #44 traps and a few Bridger #5 traps that I've been thinking about modifying for wolf trapping, but I probably won't ever get to use them. 😢 So.... Have a Great Day on your Quest for wolves. 😊
Good morning Gary and Cindy. Mice sure try a man's patience. Just don't run them through Cindy's new meat grinder!!! I have a relative that boiled his traps in basement of the house he was renting. His landlord was glad when he moved out. He was born 100 years to late for sure. Take care.🇺🇲🌲🔥🔪
Good morning. Thank you for the video. I always enjoy them. You might have experimented. Kept a few from boiling to see if the mice scent attracted the wolves better?
Good Morning! I bet the smell would, but I don't want them smelling at the trap. Those mouse nests stuffed into a hole with a dab of lure would probably work great though.
I always enjoy boiling traps. If I am going to boil them, I do every one I own. If it takes all day, I am happier than a pig in yeller corn. I usually set every one of them before boiling to check the pan adjustment and sometimes the pan tension. I run about 3-4 pounds of pan tension for yotes. I imagine wolves would be a bit more. Looks like you have enough traps there to string a long wolf line. Getting over a long line in bad weather might be sketchy. Luck!
I enjoy it too. It get's you "in the mood" to go trapping. Yeah, wolf traps are usually 8-12 pounds. Montana rules say they have to be 10 pounds or more. Idaho doesn't require that, so mine are a little light. They work good for coyotes that way too.....but a bit hard on fox.....Starting this late, I'll never get these all set. At least I have clean traps to swap out though.
Good morning muskrat and Cindy toss them mice in to the chickens and watch the show it's funny how they run around and play tug of war with the stuff they catch
What a mess! Mice sure can be a pain in the butt. I thought I should check the oil in my vehicle today. I didn't know my engine runs on corn now. The whole top of the motor was covered. Stupid mice. Peanut butter and traps are on the menu now.😂
Have you ever tried boiling the traps with the cambium in oak or any wood with a high amount of tannins it will make the traps turn black and help them not to rust so quick
@NonTypicalRacing well I guess you could call it that don't remember what grandpa called it just remember how he taught me to boil the traps and it doesn't have to be oak any wood with a good amount of tannins will work the way I was taught to find the stuff with lots of tannins was too take a very small amount and chew on it for a second and see if it makes my mouth dry the tannins is what has the bitter taste and gives the dryness I'm not sure how it makes the traps turn black but it does it just takes a little more work
@SteveLynd hey that's interesting. I like to hear how ole fellas had it figured out and how they did it. Something that may have taken them YEARS to figure out, or their ancestors...gets handed down, boy ya better listen and take that free education. 👍🏻
I haven't because we don't have oak here. I've heard walnut shells work too, but none of those either. The powdered "Logwood dye" is about all I've used.
While I'm a waitin' fer "the good stuff" ta make its way down the ol' I.V., figured I'd ask if theres a risk of a wolf gettin his snout in that trap lookin fer a scent? I can see the wisdom of boilin any stink off of em! Whooee!! Here I go.....
All the best there darrel. You're in good hands. As I said yesterday, we'll be lookin' forward to a report once done with it all. God bless you and yours this morning.
Camo Cowboy just said he caught one by the nose because of that! Yeah, you don't want them smelling where the trap is. Good luck with your eye surgery! Scary, but they are good at it now.
Good Morning! Beaver have big rear feet, but a smaller trap can work fine for them. Wolves....a #4 would work, but it's really too small. I knew a trapper that got killed in an accident a few years ago that caught several in fox traps. They held, but I wouldn't set out to try to catch them with those traps. A #4 is small, but in the old days, #4 Newhouse traps were common for wolves. These MB-750 Wolf traps are considered small, and they have a 7 1/2 inch jaw spread. Wolves have big feet, and a #4 is smaller than some of their feet, but if that's all you have, try 'em!
Ist person IV e seen do it in my life expecially 750 u got to reach inside jaw to set it they say it's orderless put some somewhere on something see if there is not woof tracks coming up to it
Great video brother , thanks for sharing !!!!! 🙏👍😊❤
Good Morning 🌄
GOOD MORNING!
So the Boiled Traps, Muskrat's specialty, is cooked.👍 Looks like the wolves will find it to their taste😀. Thanks for sharing, have a good day!

Looks cool this morning.
Nice trap boiler.

Good Morning! I thought they were all ready, but those mice kinda wrecked that! They are ready now though! Have a great day too!
Good morning friend hope you and miss Cindy have a great day today brother
Good Morning! Thank you, you too.

Good Morning! You too!
Good morning Muskrat 😊
Traps are ready now 👍 Good luck
They are! Now to just get them set!
Good mornin' to you and the missus. Gettin' excited watchin' you get ready to make a dent in that wolf population! LOL. Can't hardly wait till you take us along to set yer line(s). Good Morning! Headed up today to check 'em and add a few more. I hope it doesn't get too bad. I'm hot real fond of big storms! Good Luck!
Thanks for other great video👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your trap waxing. My fisher season opener is the 14th and I’m hoping to get at least one in a short 9 day season.
Good luck with your fisher traps! That's a short season! 9 days doesn't leave a lot of room to miss one.
Good Afternoon !!! Hope you have some snappin traps this year!!! 15 here this also. 25 to 30 mph gusts blowing through. Lazy day today. Run all around with a friend looking at tractors & equipment. Good morning. I did not know you had to do that with traps. Educational video. Would love to have a nice wolf pelt. Good luck.
There is a lot to it really. After you boil them, you don't want to touch them without gloves either. Thanks Loren! I hope things are going well for you folks.

Good day to you muskrat!!
You;re boiling traps. I'm cooking biscuits and apple butter. Good day Gary.
Yours will taste better! Ha! This cook pot would be tough on your teeth!
Sho mighty right!
Yes mice ruin everything, buggers. Trap soup makes good catches…wish you the best.

Good morning! He probably was. He was doing a lot of the classes. In fact, that's where I met him. He lives here.
Thanks for the video Gary. I don't know if you seen musher's trails you should have a watch . He caught a wolf in a fox snare by one toe.
I didn’t realize traps were so much work to keep them in good shape. That’s a lot of traps! A wolf in each one? Hmmm!🤔

Mornin Gary some time it just works out like that.
Dang mice.....nasty little critters.....
Good morning muskrat see you hard at it this morning
Good Morning!!!!
Good morning cold here in cedar
Good Morning! Cold here too. 10F this morning.
Good morning. Thank you for the video. I always enjoy them. You might have experimented. Kept a few from boiling to see if the mice scent attracted the wolves better?

Still haven't got mine ready...."Christmas push" this year on projects in the shop is unprecedented. The snow dog was fired up but that's about it.
It's been a strange year. Starting this late is hard to do! Good Luck to you!
Good morning muskrat and Cindy toss them mice in to the chickens and watch the show it's funny how they run around and play tug of war with the stuff they catch
Good Morning! It sure is! The chickens stole these when I wasn't looking! Ha!
Mornin' !
Been wondering how powder coating would hold up on a trap.
Good Morning!
I know a guy that powder coats his. It seems to work just fine.
Probably pretty expensive.
What a mess! Mice sure can be a pain in the butt. I thought I should check the oil in my vehicle today. I didn't know my engine runs on corn now. The whole top of the motor was covered. Stupid mice. Peanut butter and traps are on the menu now.😂
Not good! I hope they haven't eaten any wires! That can be hard to find and cause a lot of trouble.
Ou got your work cut out for you getting those set
For sure! I won't get them all set for sure. Having some spares is good though so you can swap one out with a clean trap if you catch something.
Have you ever tried boiling the traps with the cambium in oak or any wood with a high amount of tannins it will make the traps turn black and help them not to rust so quick
Logwood dye?

Walnut hulls work fairly good too if you got any trees nearby.
I haven't because we don't have oak here. I've heard walnut shells work too, but none of those either. The powdered "Logwood dye" is about all I've used.

Hope your feelin better
Camo Cowboy just said he caught one by the nose because of that! Yeah, you don't want them smelling where the trap is. Good luck with your eye surgery! Scary, but they are good at it now.
Morning , do u use same size g or beavers and wolf's, y hink #4??
Good Morning! Beaver have big rear feet, but a smaller trap can work fine for them. Wolves....a #4 would work, but it's really too small. I knew a trapper that got killed in an accident a few years ago that caught several in fox traps. They held, but I wouldn't set out to try to catch them with those traps. The fun part of traping, dying an waxin
It kinda gets you fired up to go set 'em if nothing else!
@MuskratOutdoors yes it does, I like that part
Ist person ever.seen wax a wolf trap they can smell it dangerous to set
Most everyone I know waxes their wolf traps. They don't smell the wax, it's odorless, but it can hold scent from other stuff.
mostly just read about wolves, but I would imagine they can be a tough catch?
Ist person IV e seen do it in my life expecially 750 u got to reach inside jaw to set it they say it's orderless put some somewhere on something see if there is not woof tracks coming up to it
