I like ur analysis, but I think that ds2 in all seriousness is the most balanced pvp in the series, and if you think otherwise you haven't played it or have a bias on it from the typical ds2 hate train.
@@dingdong6563I didn’t get into souls games intill after ds2, but going back and fighting friends in it is always so much fun and makes me wish I was there in its prime. Ds2 yes probably is the most balanced cause you can make so many setup, weapons, pretty much everything work well, ds3 is pretty balanced aswell imo, just take away a few weapons and bow glitch. But to balance Elden Ring well, your gonna have to take more then half the game away😂. To rant: I’m scared from from is gonna cook up for their next game, cause it seems like they keep wanting to pivot away from balanced PvP to whatever keeps the casual anime weeb happy while using.
@tray2204 ds3 was full of piss poor balancing, being at every games prime. I have never been more irritated and frustrated in ds3's pvp. Even ds1 or elden ring wasn't as bad. Infinite stunlock chains and piss poor treatment of weapons larger than a spear. Removal of the perfected poise system ds2 had. Generally piss poor balancing with one redeeming quality, it's multiplayer accessibility. You got the white soap sign at the start of the game, and it wasn't missable at all. That is why ds3 is the most popular multiplayer setting, not its "balanced pvp." Because it wasn't and isn't. I'd play elden ring pvp over ds3 pvp any day. Hot take, you can say. I personally prefer dying instantly rather than waiting 3 mins for the guy who caught me in an infinite stunlock to finally release me of his torture. Ds3 has decent pve tho :)
They're still insane even without the ashes. I've tried the curseblade cirques and the damage is nuts, ash and guard counter instaproc consecutive hit buffs and even the base AR is on par with weaker greatswords. The root of the issue is the same as with PSSS and PSCS, nothing that attacks this fast should be dealing this much damage. Give them all the coded sword treatment and we're good.
Deadly dance is easy to dodge and guard counters aren't easy to pull off due to all backhand blades having pretty bad guard counter though curseblade cirque have much better. You can't use physick in duals so guard countering more than running attacks isn't an option. I think they are balanced as they are. They have overall short range, something that saves them is their running lights. I've tested these a lot in pvp and only things I've found very viable is to use smithscript, have the one roar projectile ash just cause it's one of the best options on there and can punish things backhand is weak to. It's also very important to have one of the normal backhand blades on hand to be able to switch to those heavy attacks or it's just hard to hit people or catch them off guard ever.
The thing that i love from bhb are the neutral heavy attacks, both of them have really nice rollcatch potential, and cannot be poised unless you have hyperarmor.
Ain't no way Mr. Bucket gave in to his temptation, he became the ultimate swift slasher. Give him one more week and he will transform into a good yellow/blue man. How dare you use a fun weapon!
@@ALBINAURIC_MAFIAI might be trippin but I thought 13f was reactable w/ no blending. That was the speed of old gugs/shunter poke too. Ofc w/ a decent player blending it’s unreactable (bhb cL1/R1 is 11f I think?)
The speed is fine, the dmg is a bit high but that's mostly due to combos. They should nerf the poise dmg and then make it work more like daggers, bc they mostly are. That way, the follow up attacks should be dealing more poise dmg than the first one. Swift slash needs to consume more stamina and FP. And blind spot needs zero I frames, as you said it is still broken but at least more manageable. Unfortunately we know from soft is incapable of listening to actual good feedback and will just do the most random patch known to man. Great video rust
@@Rust_BKT I think it's the only possible fix, but honestly if they only fix the two ashes of war, most ppl wouldn't have a problem. This game is always one good patch away from being balanced enough
@@fredericogoncalves1771 how was the last patch random ? It nerfed swift slash, blind spot and sleep crossbow. I’m sure Blind spot is still a problem in competitive play (like quickstep) but it’s way more manageable when you encounter it in the arena. Swift slash basically disappeared from the arena, haven’t seen a single person using it since the patch. It also made light greatsword, hand to hand art and beast claw more viable. If their goal with this patch was to make the arena experience better they clearly succeeded, imo this is the most balanced arena experience we had since release.
Meh not really. No I frames just make blind spot useless. Imo the problem is the recovery to be able to execute the move. The move SHOULD have I frames, that kinda it's whole point and what's make it cool. It's annoying but we shouldn't take away cool factor to coddle gamers. Just balance the recovery time so it's not oppressive against certain matchups. Cause right now it's too easy and safe to use as a punish. Outside of that the move itself is pretty well balanced imo
@@THE_MOONMAN It doesn't make it useless, get a grip, it invalidates all locked on vertical and thrusting attacks which are most of the meta, no ifrsmes would still be very usable
Been using smithscript cirques without the meta ashes in arena and people get pissed. Its a shame because its the most fun throwing weapon From Soft has made and the limited range makes them an insanely dynamic weapon to use close and medium range if you know how to jump dodge attacks well. No overtuned r2 and only does like 200-300 a hit but people have PTSD from the first month of dlc arena
The smithscript one isn't bad because the nuke r2 is replaced by the lackluster throwing r2. The rest are stupid broken, though no doubt I my mind that there should be a nerf to them and a hefty one too
they're still annoying as hell to play against when someone is just lightrolling and constantly running away with them on high latency. An even more annoying throwing weapon imo is the Claws of Night.
@@102ndsmirnov7 Never understood the lightroll hate. Running attacks are juiced in this game, just roll catch them and they will have inferior dmg resist? Def agree that the Claws of Night are worse tho. Cirque throws one of the slowest projectiles and super easy to dodge
@@prodby905cupid8 the reason people dislike lightroll is due to the fact that, on high latency, double-lightrolling gives you an insane amount of s, making it virtually impossible to rollcatch you out of certain sequences with absolutely no effort. it also completely invalidates certain rollcatch setups (flaming strike immediately comes to mind) which makes some builds borderline useless. the distance lightroll travels also makes it incredibly hard to maintain offensive pressure

I felt like I was in the minority when I felt like backhands were mostly balanced with the exception of the ashes and crouch attacks. Thank you for vindicating my feelings, now I can use these without feeling like a prick.
I think Backhand Blades are very overturned. They are basically 2 stronger curved swords for the weight of a single dagger. I'm done with their entire moveset except for the running heavy. There is 0 world in which it should do that much damage and do 4 hits to proc multi hit talismans. They need to weigh more and do a bit less damage. Ain't no way people get to have the strongest weapon in the game that is nearly weightless so they can also put on heavy armor for more poise and damage resist. I will never respect a Backhand Blade user unless it gets nerfed further, or it's the funny curse blade cirques. Less range makes the wacky moveset feel more balanced, it's the heaviest backhand blade (still rather light I believe), and it has the funny ash of war
tbh I found running heavy extremely powerful. Ngl I had a lot of fun with this weapon both in pve and pvp. Blindspot feels so badass pulling on a boss or doing some perfect rollcatch, running light is great for chasing down, running heavy does extreme amounts of damage and generally it’s moveset looks so cool. Swift slash is cancer tho, it’s not that good and works good only against overwhelming ganks but there are way better tools against them. What’s worse is when a gank is spamming it, while comboing it with undodgabale spells with shit connection. Swift slash definitely needs a rework, at least make it dodgable weight does feel unfairly light for such power, I’d say they should bump it up but I kinda think people just need time to get used to fighting it, it’s been a while since we had drastic changes to arsenal, we gotta adapt. I’ve fought some of backhand blade users and when they aren’t overly spammy with swift slash, it’s enjoyable. But maybe I am too tolerant for unfair fights in invasions, I can only taste cancer on spammy swift slash but the rest is kinda fine edit: ok I watched a bit further and that spammability of blind spot seems cancerous. I never noticed it cuz I usually use it as a rollcatch or combo extender, I thought they removed i-frames from pvp completely (kinda think they should, counterthrust with i-frames is busted beyond a reasonable extend)
dude yes! I actually don't even use the broken ashes, I just love the surfing that happens when you L1 and go flying towards the opponent. I use an offhand nagachiba with it and it works fantastic! then I usually put raptor of the mists on the backhand blade.
The best instructional PVP content anywhere on youtube. I look forward to you blowing up and seeing whatever build your last video was on constantly in the arena for the next week lol
I always look forward to your videos, you explain everything so well and with ease. I’ve learned quite a bit about the PvP scene from you. Thanks for the insight Rust.
Tested backhand blades against storm stomp banished knight halberd. Blind spot doesnt let you avoid the true combo storm stomp into r1. So halberd offhatchet with stormstomp could be decent against blind spot.
Is thrusting sword the heaviest weapon that can use quickstep to counter blind spot spam, or are there any great weapons that if running quick step can have fast enough recovery to counter it as well?
@@ni9274 tbh, anything that youre doing on “predicition” of it, isnt going to be consistant, since theyre responding on reaction. They have more s than they do active frames of most attacks, and if they just delay to the point that your attack phantom hits, then even storm stomp or flaming strike wont work
I play a quality build that uses 5 weapons and a greatshield. One of those weapons is backhand blades. When i fight someone else with backhand blades i actually counter them with my lightning bloodhound claws, with blinkbolt on em. This actually destroys backhand blades a lot of the time. Feels almolst like a hard counter.
Hi Rust, I'm from South America, my average ping on NA servers is around 150ms, do you think it's worth it for me playing PvP? I'm not sure how the connection works, does people only play with opponents from the same region? I'm more interested in duels and tournaments. I'm playing fighting games for 10+ years so I know how some of the fundamentals on Elden Ring works, just don't want to waste my time learning the game if it's going to be bad because of my connection. You have a amazing channel, you speak very well and your videos are really well made, I wish you the best.
funny how I never bothered trying to spam blind spot, only to find that it’s the most broken tactic. I used it mostly as a combo extender and/or rollcatch. I thought they removed all i-frames from pvp and I think they should, that speed+counterthrust+s+low mana cost is way too much for one skill. Also the mana cost seems too cheap even in pve. I enjoyed this weapon a lot, it has a really cool moveset with the best chasing attack, I liked this weapon so much that I think it started my newfound love for rogues archetype still tho, it needs nerfs, it’s way too light, swift slash is cancer, blindspot s must be removed completely from pvp and mana cost must be higher. I kinda don’t want to admit but damage on running heavy is a bit much for that speed, either nerf the damage or speed. I think these nerfs are necessary as they don’t compromise the fun of the general moveset and actually could push people into actually trying out it’s cool attacks and combo chains. I am kinda mad at how so many people just reduce it to ash of war spam stick when it’s so much fun (and it also makes me look like I am yet another toxic backhand blade cheeser)
Hahahaha, okay, just to clarify, I am in no way trying to be rude- rather, I need to give your more information about how busted these actually are. And no, swift slash is not even that busted compared to the way I personally use them (as a backhand blade main). While yes, against people who don't understand the true use of the backhand blade (spammers, newborns, ect.), your tactics to stop them might be proven useful, but do you really think just having over 110 poise, applying spacing, using your brain, and potentially using thrusting swords is the way to out-do the ungodly potential and power these weapons hold? Forgive me, or turn me into ash, for I have sinned. Before I can explain, let me show you my setup- so then you can see how to properly use these: ---Bleed smith-cirque /w blind-spot main-hand, --bleed smith-cirque /w quickstep 2nd mainhand, -and bleed backhand-blade /w quickstep in offhand. [Make sure to two-hand only one of these three weapons at a time- as the damage output is greater, and there is no need to dual-wield these.] Not only are they versatile- -with the ability to roll-catch with either the cirque's throw, or the cirque's dashing heavy, not to mention the superior crouch-light, or either blade's dashing-light (recommended to chain dashing-light into backhand blade's light attack combo or any of the cirque's throws or even blind-spot, even possibly quickstepping toward the enemy and performing any of the versatile attacks provided), -the attack-countering capabilities of either the cirque's throw, or blind-spot, or quickstep combo'd into light attacks, or disengagement then re-engagement with any sort of quick-attack, or even a jumping-heavy with a cirque over someone's head, as the projectiles will track behind you into the enemy, or even a strafe/quickstep into a backstab, -the crazy distance dashing-light can close- or chase-with for either weapon as not only does this keep you mobile and fluently moving, but this also can be used to counter runners or int/fai users -but both the weapons proc bleed with great intensity, and the backhand-blade is able to out-perform most light-attack combo spam by mostly any weapon- partially thanks to the bleed itself, but also boosted by it's poise-break and and can be garnished by the armor you could be using. The most powerful move though, is called switch-up. Switch up the weapon you use between the three throughout your battle and see what works best against the specific enemy. Not only does this prove useful for confusing the opponent -allowing you to secure surprise attacks- but also gives you the advantage of any situation possible. Now, let me counter your counters. Let me start with poise and spacing first, then I will counter the use of all three. -First, you mentioned poise. Over 110 to be precise, with the recommended use of at least 111. You also recommend using your brain to accurately depict correct spacing. Spacing is in my ballcourt, as I can choose and flipflop methods to counter your spacing. Normally, my choice would be to approach with either blind-spot cirque, or quickstep blade. I can force pressure with the cirque through the use of throws and the scare of blindspot- and I can potentially veer the opponent into a desired reaction if played right. If this said enemy digs for an attack, they may try to punish one of these throws, and accordingly, may either roll toward me followed up with an attack, or use quickstep/bloodhounds step. If this occurs, I not only have enough time to react with any attack counter, but if they hit me while I perform a throw, they themselves will be hit with the projectile's tracking- perfect for a leadup into any of the many counters I have prepared. If the opponent manages the perfect timing for the hit and I am stunned out of doing the throw or blindspot, the enemy will most likely have severed stamina and will most likely attempt to roll away- perfect for any roll counters I have. Now, if this person decides to keep a safe distance while choosing to stay generally near me- but never chooses to attack, I may switch to my quickstep blade and simply chase without attacking. This weapon is perfect for letting the opponent assume an edge and gain confidence. They see that I don't have the throwable weapon I used to force pressure, and see I'm posing no obligation to attack, so they'll most likely laxen up and attempt an attack or reduce their spacing-awareness. If this happens, I have many counters for their feable methods. -note, while chasing the enemy with these weapons, I normally run a pickled turtle neck and two-headed turtle- as with the right pacing, I will never run out of stamina. Another note, I will stay on the inside of the circle, so they run and maintain a longer pace and I gain the advantage-potentially lead them into the wall where I will grab my opportunities. Therefor, with the combination of where I am running and how I lead them, I have the ability to periodically stop for small stamina boosts, so I can maintain my pace perminentally and keep the ability to retaliate if they choose to attack OR try to change the direction I am forcing them into- and because they cannot maintain their pace without stopping, with a garunteed loss of stamina eventually, this will leave them at an opportunity where I can attack. (I doubt anyone is good enough just to simply walk or strafe away from my attacks, and because of the ungodly pressure I keep, there is no way to adicately keep spacing) Poise will not help you much. My method of attacking isn't about poise-break or stunning the opponent- that's just an added benefit I have the potential to take advantage of. My goal is to hit you enough time's you'll die- either through trading, my multitude of counters, or freebes the opponent doesn't know how to dodge. Bleed does help lots, and if you are under that poise threshold, I will garunteed use it to my advantage. Now for the thrusting swords: Simply speaking, smithscript cirque. If you have any sort of non-large weapon Period- this is the weapon I will choose. The throwing attacks are what I will rely on (any of the heavy varients of attacks), and because you don't have a large weapon that can knock me out of a jumping-heavy through either poise-break or tracking, I'll jump over your head at any opportunity I get. You can't hit me with small weapons period, because I know the spacing. It's collosal swords that scare me when using throw attacks, not this. Now, let's say you use the ONLY setup that can counter this build (either *and I don't count this first one* proffesional-grade magic spam [and I mean insanely talented users, because normal users I can very compitently handle] [I will simply run the whole game if you're try this], or that stupid fist-pike weapon /w bloodhound's step- along with 111+ poise and very great spacing), it will most likely be a draw- or I will find a flaw in your ways and break you. Not to say that I'm the best at the game, as I have my own flaws- but using this setup and the strategies I've come to understand, I don't normally loose. Spam doesn't work on me- I know how to strafe or roll out of nearly everything (and I keep a healing spell in case someone uses magic spam, because it's literally only fair). And those lame ashes of war everyone spams are so incredibly easy to avoid- it isn't funny. Using cirque's throw is able to chip the heck out of an opponents health while using ashes of war- so it's not even worth trying on me. Honestly, as long as you are within the cirque's range, I will not only avoid and punish you, but will also have a counter to any sort of windup attacks. Sorry for the long text. I'll turn it into a video soon so it's easier to comprehend, and I can go more in depth. (Also, if I left anything out or have any spelling errors or anything- I don't care. I wrote this on a phone for an hour and it's hard to proof-read on a 1.5 inch wide screen.)
Hello Mr. Bucket Your videos helped me improve in pvp alot yet one thing I struggle with alot is roll catch people as I tend to end up getting phantom hits on chase and end up with my stamina drained and it gets worse on high latency . What advice would you give on this situation?
Shhh dont tell them how good it is 1 handed that's supposed to be my secret lol Actually one of the best weapons against bhb is surprisingly perfume bottles
Blind spot the move itself is pretty balanced now tbf, the last nerf was pretty dece. They need to add more recovery time now so its not a low commitment/risk punish to basically anything. Just taking away its i frames wouldnt help either and it having i frames is actually something really cool about it. And getting rid of them doesnt fix the issue for PvP. It would just nuke them for PvE Skill slash though, is obviously perfectly balanced 🤣
Rust I love you but we need to give clear cues to FS to fix these, we can't say this kinda fine? The house is on fire and my garfield plush collection is in ashes. The damage is overtuned by a solid amount even with 0,9+0,9 (like 15% less dmg on top), their recovery is nonexistent (the cl1 has even less recovery than daggers) and the rolling attack shouldn't break poise at all - the rest of the moveset is more than strong enough. Stealing prio with rolling attacks faster than f13 is an overall issue and it's one of the main reasons something like ts is hated. This weapon is a hts rr2+ twinblade + psgs cl1 combined into a single weapon nightmare. Shit is moveset and damage wise completely anti variety
Like i said, the crouch attack is busted and needs to be fixed. Overall damage? Idk man, the motion values are mostly all lower than anything else. Maybe reduce the mv on the first hit and backload it more they way they do with tb, so they arent squeezing a bunch of extra dmg from follow up swings. Maybe reduce the scaling from s to a. But fromsoft isnt watching these videos, so being overly negative and trying to scare people away from playing the game isnt my objective
@@Rust_BKT The damage of this weapon matches things like Bloodhound fang and sb lances, which I chose as a sort of benchmark for decently nuclear damage. The 2h r1 is a multihit, so okay harder to land the full thing, but still 430dmg. The running r2 does 560, cr1 410, neutral r2 which is a great mixup does 512. That damage is before applying any boosting talis, the rr2 procs godskin and other multihits in a single attack btw. Bhs fang does 410 on 2h r1, 518 2h r2 and this after applying dlc talis and grease. Sb lances rolling does 438, also post dlc tali. Bhb unironically does greatweapon+ tier damage on a moveset with dagger/ts recoveries. The biggest issue is though that almost every move this weapon has both 1h/2h is meta viable, if it was just one move that was good, did this dmg and everything else was just okay it wouldn't be a problem (the pscs gambit). Word of mouth and community opinion is important, even if FS maybe isn't watching My point isn't to be negative, but just yeah, quite a few things are off right now and the clock is ticking with how much more support we can expect, so being more direct and rallying the community might not be the worst thing. Been making some little vids and tickets for FS myself, as foolish as that may be expecting them to do stuff.
their damage and forward mommentum being a little too much on some attacks makes it annoying to fight in different lat though I find its one handed moveset to be super useful, I hope that they just adjust the broken parts of the weapon and keep all the cool stuff it can do. I love powerstanced movesets (or paried) that encourage you to press more than just the single best button. Epic video!
You're literally just bad at the game dude. They do MEDIOCRE damage. There area literally 50 other weapons that out DPS the backhand blades in literally every scenario. You're legit garbage if you can't counter the backhand blades in its current state.

Very good informative video as always Still dont fucking know why from decide to give this weapon high poise dmg on an already high dmg with multi hit move that has blindspot as its AoW while a hand2hand has absurdly low damage that you need a talisman and multiple dmg boost to even come close to viable PC Arena pvp actually is cooked, at least in invasions im not locked away with all the options to outplay it instead of just locked into a 350+ms ping duel with those kinds of weapon phantomhitting you from 5 miles because lmao fromsoft server
Rust, the game have a bug when you infuse a weapon with elemental damage and the weapon have already elemental damage the original elemental damage is erase. 1 exemple is when you infuse whit magic a fire knight greatsword, the fire damage will disappear and the weapon will only deals physical and magic damage. The same applies to the sword of night and flame, the r1 and r2 only deals magical and physical damage, but not fire (you can test on plant enemys and barrels)
You never want to split your damage 3ways anyway, since youre losing alot to base defenses before resistance kicks in. But thats interesting, ill look into it
@@Rust_BKTThat holds true except for fire knight greatsword where on respective builds of lightning, magic, sacred and cold it is doing more than zweihander and then you factor in its minuscule fire damage which is adding about 20 fire damage in PvP post flat defenses. @Rust_BKT I mean true, if they don't spam, then it's harder to setup. Still a very bad trade for them if you can read them correctly. Elsewise, if they spam cirque r2s, then there are other things to counter that. Ofc adaptability always is key. Doesn't change the fact that stormcaller (for sure, at least on a scythe) can take a hit of blind spot and counter with much better damage. The hyperarmor is also fast enough to start it right after you land a hit, so if you know they'll blindspot the second attack in your chain, replace that second attack with the AOW and it will work fairly well fairly often. Yet again, not fool proof, and requires at least some reading capability, but nonetheless effective.

@@Blvkgoat you could argue a similar point to thrusting swords, which, as it stands now, and ever since release, aside from a brief period in 1.12, have always been the absolute best weapons in the game. 2-300dmg vs optimized builds, but its not their damage that makes them so strong, its how well they play neutral. If you have a thrusting sword and a superior neutral play, then you win. Bhb function similarly except with more of the 2kat style gameplay. Functionally they play like a cross between 2kat and tb. Think about them in that respect and you can make the best use of them
Blindspot really shouldnt have any i frames at all that shit damn near unlocks the other players camera everytime its even used this isint even to mention just how out of range the movement puts you.
Technically they have similar damage multipliers as other small weapons, but the S scaling on dex definitely pushes them ahead a bit. Having the scaling reduced to A seems reasonable imo
You guys ruined swift slash and didnt fix the one problem it had. The attack was a fast dash anime swordsman attack to close the gap with range and now its a clunky hop that leaves you too close wide open to hit while you slow charge it to cover a decent distance. The problem was SPAMMING the attack not the attack itself. It just needed a cool down timer in PvP and left alone in PvE.

There is none.
Funny, cause sekiro's pvp mod is better that wo long official pvp, a sekiro copycat that released after elden ring.
Someone once told me:
"Whatever counters the current meta, is the true meta"
The thing that i love from bhb are the neutral heavy attacks, both of them have really nice rollcatch potential, and cannot be poised unless you have hyperarmor.
i didnt talk about this at all but youre absolutely right. the neutral heavy is amazing, such a great roll catch

As we saw prepatch, lowered poise damage is also an option, for sure.
No overtuned r2 and only does like 200-300 a hit but people have PTSD from the first month of dlc arena
lol true

Agreed
tbh I found running heavy extremely powerful. Swift slash definitely needs a rework, at least make it dodgable
weight does feel unfairly light for such power, I’d say they should bump it up but I kinda think people just need time to get used to fighting it, it’s been a while since we had drastic changes to arsenal, we gotta adapt. I’ve fought some of backhand blade users and when they aren’t overly spammy with swift slash, it’s enjoyable. But maybe I am too tolerant for unfair fights in invasions, I can only taste cancer on spammy swift slash but the rest is kinda fine
edit: ok I watched a bit further and that spammability of blind spot seems cancerous. I never noticed it cuz I usually use it as a rollcatch or combo extender, I thought they removed i-frames from pvp completely (kinda think they should, counterthrust with i-frames is busted beyond a reasonable extend)
I liked guard countering with those, the damage is still utterly disgusting but at least you can't also put blindspot/swiftslash on it.
I tried that before out of curiosity to see how they would work but didn’t know the move sets almost totally switch up with the PS. That’s sick
Amazing and informative as always. TY for letting me help and for the shout-out bro. ❤
dude yes! I actually don't even use the broken ashes, I just love the surfing that happens when you L1 and go flying towards the opponent. I use an offhand nagachiba with it and it works fantastic! then I usually put raptor of the mists on the backhand blade.

Is thrusting sword the heaviest weapon that can use quickstep to counter blind spot spam, or are there any great weapons that if running quick step can have fast enough recovery to counter it as well?
depends on the latency, on bad lat, great weapons can get out if they blindspot on reaction. but generally no, greatweapons will be too slow
@@Rust_BKT What about free aiming with a sweeping attack on prediction of someone using blind spot ?

I enjoyed this weapon a lot, it has a really cool moveset with the best chasing attack, I liked this weapon so much that I think it started my newfound love for rogues archetype
still tho, it needs nerfs, it’s way too light, swift slash is cancer, blindspot s must be removed completely from pvp and mana cost must be higher.
Before I can explain, let me show you my setup- so then you can see how to properly use these:
---Bleed smith-cirque /w blind-spot main-hand,
--bleed smith-cirque /w quickstep 2nd mainhand,
-and bleed backhand-blade /w quickstep in offhand.
[Make sure to two-hand only one of these three weapons at a time- as the damage output is greater, and there is no need to dual-wield these.]
Not only are they versatile-
-with the ability to roll-catch with either the cirque's throw, or the cirque's dashing heavy, not to mention the superior crouch-light, or either blade's dashing-light (recommended to chain dashing-light into backhand blade's light attack combo or any of the cirque's throws or even blind-spot, even possibly quickstepping toward the enemy and performing any of the versatile attacks provided),
-the attack-countering capabilities of either the cirque's throw, or blind-spot, or quickstep combo'd into light attacks, or disengagement then re-engagement with any sort of quick-attack, or even a jumping-heavy with a cirque over someone's head, as the projectiles will track behind you into the enemy, or even a strafe/quickstep into a backstab,
-the crazy distance dashing-light can close- or chase-with for either weapon as not only does this keep you mobile and fluently moving, but this also can be used to counter runners or int/fai users
-but both the weapons proc bleed with great intensity, and the backhand-blade is able to out-perform most light-attack combo spam by mostly any weapon- partially thanks to the bleed itself, but also boosted by it's poise-break and and can be garnished by the armor you could be using.
(I doubt anyone is good enough just to simply walk or strafe away from my attacks, and because of the ungodly pressure I keep, there is no way to adicately keep spacing)
Poise will not help you much.
Now for the thrusting swords:
Simply speaking, smithscript cirque.

It would just nuke them for PvE
Skill slash though, is obviously perfectly balanced 🤣
Word of mouth and community opinion is important, even if FS maybe isn't watching
My point isn't to be negative, but just yeah, quite a few things are off right now and the clock is ticking with how much more support we can expect, so being more direct and rallying the community might not be the worst thing. Been making some little vids and tickets for FS myself, as foolish as that may be expecting them to do stuff.

You never want to split your damage 3ways anyway, since youre losing alot to base defenses before resistance kicks in. But thats interesting, ill look into it
No it’s just the fire effects are turned off, so it won’t remove frost or trigger burn death animation, but it’s still doing fire damage.
@@Rust_BKTThat holds true except for fire knight greatsword where on respective builds of lightning, magic, sacred and cold it is doing more than zweihander and then you factor in its minuscule fire damage which is adding about 20 fire damage in PvP post flat defenses. Giant hunt actually makes that extra fire damage do something.
@@johndang897 I don't have any idea, tank for the information
@@johndang897It also keeps the oil debuff on so unless you use the stance r2 its free damage (Also a direct hit if roiling magma works much the same way)
Damn that dude on the blindspot ash got himself some back
Nah the Back hand blades are busted don’t try to make them ok cus you like using them….you ain’t objective unfortunately…the damage is too crazy.
Even without swift slash and blind spot.
Stormcaller make them noobs change that weapon right away , and if you want to troll just spam storm caller again and again unless they have something to throw they would stand there in shock hahahahaha.
Stormcaller is a hard counter to blindspot
Until they just dont walk into your bullshit and start spaming cirque r2s
If they're dumb enough to just walk into it sure
@@deadlysloths2151 if it hits, it hits hard too, so wont deny that stormcaller is a great pick if you can land it. and most blind spot shitters just spam anyway. 🤘
@@Rust_BKT exactly hehehe agains't spammers it's my personnal favorite deterent, but I think we can all agree that it knows it's limits, just like most stuff in the game (except a lot of stuff lmaoo)
The nerf they just did on this weapons is ridiculous though. It’s still not balanced. Now I do nothing while others destroy me the same way before this got nerfed.
@@Blvkgoat the nerf was very significant, 2 frame slow on the cl1 is fuckin massive, and a much needed dmg nerf. Overall, very good changes
@@Rust_BKT th-cam.com/video/-l4Xi2EaSYU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zIM1hx87ms5yhZax
No not good changes at all. I hit for like 200-300 on the running r2. My damage is absolutely trash now. These weapons can’t keep up with everything in the game and also I just got hit with a weapon that took 85% of my health so should we now nerf that weapon also ? The BHS will never in a million years two shot someone.
@@Rust_BKT let’s start nerfing the whole game. Dragons incantations are Overpowered. They can also two shot.
Think about them in that respect and you can make the best use of them
@@Rust_BKT what do you mean by 2kat and TB ?
Blindspot really shouldnt have any i frames at all that shit damn near unlocks the other players camera everytime its even used this isint even to mention just how out of range the movement puts you.
Man. Imo they do waaay to much damage
Technically they have similar damage multipliers as other small weapons, but the S scaling on dex definitely pushes them ahead a bit. Having the scaling reduced to A seems reasonable imo
@@Rust_BKT yeah, that would be reasonable.
Psgs players found a new wind of life. What about predicting with Flaming strike to catch Blindspot?
@@leoornstein3963 whether we like it or not, Redditors deserve the bhb poke vortex after getting psgs and shunter nerfed
Yea if they walk i to it, fs is fine. Blindspot can travel either direction though, so its a 50/50
@@Rust_BKT I feel like it's possible to predict where they would end up to FS at that direction. Forgot they could travel on either side though.
@@fatcoinpurse might actually learn bhb for this. The vortex is sick.
6:11 "rely on good spacing and outplay the opponent" thats a good one, yeah sure space the skill slash
30 seconds im here
This should be nerfed. Why powerstance dagger has longer recovery?? wtf
😬

Ok but at which ground angle does the running attack tech start beating bunny hopping ?????
Blink bolt!! Pleaseee! Blink bolt, power stanced straight swords are my favvv!
rust i have a question what are your thoughts on psgs with shunter right hand (fixes tracking) and the retaliayory tree tali. also retalioatory tree tali with double kat. Is it as good as it used to be? Ive been trying them out and it seems kinda good now. Also praying for a light greatsword deep dive at some point in the future. Love the vids keep up the good work man :)
@@maxpierce6642 ps shunter was already a soft-meta for 2v2s pre-patch, because it could tear skip. Its a decent setup in 2s becuase it just shits out dmg. But the lack of range really keeps it from being anything decent in 1v1s. 2kat is really struggling though because of the ps damage nerf and low poise dmg on 1h r1 really hurt it alot, so it has no prio after the cl1, its just not fast enough to prevent mash.
yeh i wish they would buff 1h katana poise dmg, not getting mashed into oblivion by anything in the game would have been nice. i gotta look up what tear skip is now lol ive never heard of that. new to pvp as of dlc release so ive just been grinding 1s to get better no 2v2 experience. Wish i was around for double kat in its prime it looked so fun. Thanks for the advice :)
here before the steelovski vid
Theyre damage is too high
From what i learned from Chase is that you can counter blind spot with flaming strike (if they atk first)
@@lollmao-sg8zn mmk, but why would the blindspot user be attacking first?
@@Rust_BKT well I usually get into a staredown otherwise its really effective when most of the users are spammers
Oddly enough I kind of enjoy the bhb one handed. It feels balanced around lower poise damage and more reasonable frame data.
What do you think of the LGS now after the buff?
its aight. it gets carried by its forward momentum and r2s but its easily strafed and sucks under pressure
@@Rust_BKT Under pressure is when you pull out the instant sword dance/spinslash.
Understood, going back to PvP in DS3 where the Corvian Greatknife's blind spot is not absolutely broken
Edit: I mean, it's the exact same Weapon Art/Ash of War but you can counter it with poise or by having a good reaction time, and also the weapon that has said attack is a dagger.
How is it the same ? In er you do almost half a circle around your opponent, it's like you use a faster and longer quickstep.
Ds3's version has barely any movement.
@@glatykoffi6672 Yeah that is true, in DS3 you dont end up behind your enemy, altough the attack animation is indeed the same, ER's Blind Spot is just a way, waaay more powerful version.
I just block anyone using these. Your not good cause you use a broken weapon that will inevitably be patched.
