As a fun challenge, and because this is a very beautiful song that's gorgeously delivered, I wanted to try my hand at translating this, so! For anyone who might want it, an in-depth explanation:
    *Latvian lyrics:*
    Nedošu es irbītēmi
    Tēvu zemi purināt,
    Jūgšu sirmus, jūgšu bērus,
    Purināšu tēvu zem'.
    Sirmi, bēri kumeliņi
    Aizved mani smiltiņās;
    Sirmi, bēri attecēja,
    Es paliku smiltiņās.
    Es pazinu bārainīti
    Lielā ļaužu pulciņāi.
    Sarkans rožu vainadziņis,
    Pilnas aces asariņu.
    Šī bārite, tā bārite,
    Es patiesi bārainīte.
    Ne man tēva, ne māmiņas,
    Ne īstaja bāleliņa.
    *Translation notes:*
Now, I wanna say - as a native latvian, even I had a very hard time understanding the specifics of this, as i'm not well versed in archaic latvian words or latvian words originating from other regions other than Kurzeme. The dialect can vary a bit from one side of the country to the other. Not to mention how traditional latvian songs often are very symbolic in general. So please take this with a grain of salt :')
Bārainīte - diminutive of 'orphan girl'
Irbīte - diminutive of the bird partridge. Not sure what exactly it's signifying, but the closest explanation I could get, is that, 'like a partridge' in latvian can also mean a very hard working girl/person, so I'm taking it as that. Or not. But, more importantly, I think it's implying foreigners - folk that the point of view doesn't trust, anyways. Traditional latvian songs often use animals as stand ins for people.
Purināt - to shake/flutter? Like you would shake out a dusty peace of cloth, or shake someone vigorously. But I'm guessing in this context, it's sort of to like, how in english you would say, 'to blow through your savings', for example; to use something carelessly till it's dwindled. Or to make use of something in general.
Sirms - gray haired/silver, especially from old age.
Bērs - this is reffering to a specific coloring of a horse - a light reddish brown to a very dark brown, with a black mane and feet.
Smiltiņas - now, the word directly translated is a diminutive of 'sand', but i'm thinking it's not just that. I'm not sure what this could be since online information is very scarce, but my closest guess would be this being a nod towards the town 'Smiltene' that is located in Vidzeme. That, or i'm completely wrong and it's actually a 'left in the sand (dust)' sort of thing, that makes sense, too. Lots of archaic latvian words are that way, whether because the meaning has been lost over time, or it has had many different contexts attached. Or it may be a regional word that I just don't have the understanding for.
Bāleliņš - a very old word for a latvian man/boy, which can be either a son, a brother, or a male partner. Very vague, I know. But in this context, I think it's the last one.
Okay, now that that's out of the way,
    *English translation:*
(Some words may be a bit off to rhyme them better)
    I won't give to partridges,
Father's land to make use of.
I'll ride silver, i'll ride brunette,
I'll make use of father's land.
    Silver and the brunette horses,
    Lead me into Smiltiņās,
Silver, brunette, they made their leave,(1.)
    I remained at Smiltiņās.
I could recognise an orphan girl,
    In a massive people crowd.
Crown of red roses on her head,(2.)
Eyes so full of tear droplets.
This an orphan, that an orphan,
    I'm truly an orphan girl.
Not a father, not a mother,
Neither a boy to call my own.
    *Further notes:*
    1. Here, I was quite confused on the wording, as 'attecēja' means to arrive ('aiztecēja' would be to leave), but in the context, that doesn't quite make sense. So I chose to take some liberties in how to interpret that.
    2. This is probably not referring to an actual flower crown, but the traditional latvian pearl crown that unwed girls wore, that also often was in a red color. Google 'latvju vainags' to see what it looks like!
Aaaand that would be it. Phew. If anyone actually read this, thank you ^^ hope you all have great days. Atā :)

This is an excellent rendition of one of the more varied Tautumeitas songs I've heard. Starting in a very calm and dreamlike state, before Asnate injects some real bite at 1:35, before the mood changes again at 2:44, ultimately leading to a return of the dreamlike mood. As always with the ladies, there's great harmony and pulsating rhythms. If the rest of the concert in Cesis was like this song, it must have been a memorable night!
