The mistake you're making is thinking there is a direct translation between a tonal language like IVRI to English. Bantu languages are tonal. No word end with a consonant, NONE. So the word Negeb would NOT make much sense. Tonal language are understood by context. Just minor change of tone can change the meaning of word completely.

If "the south" in Genesis 13:1 refers to a place in Egypt, what direction did Abram take when he left Egypt? Which way on the campus did he take when leaving Egypt, East? The mistake you're making is thinking there is a direct translation between a tonal language like IVRI to English. Bantu languages are tonal. No word end with a consonant, NONE. So the word Negeb would NOT make much sense. Tonal language are understood by context. Just minor change of tone can change the meaning of word completely.

Because Israel is East of Egypt. And remember that up relates to an elevation, not direction. And even if up meant the direction he took Sudan is up in relation to Egypt. Ethiopia is up in relation to Egypt. This is why the Egyptian government was upset when Ethiopia built a dam on the blue Nile because it meant less water for Egypt. Water flows from up to down. How you show the map is deceiving because a computer or phone screen is upright and not horizontal, whereas the earth is horizontal or plain. South Africa is up compared to Egypt, about 3 times above sea level. Google it. The Nile river empties into the Mediterranean sea showing that Africa interna is at a higher elevation than Egypt.
And even the maps you showed Israel is east of Egypt, more east than North. North of Egypt is the sea.
