Mashallah very interesting, engaging, and beneficial alhumdulillah. One thing, the shuyukh I have learned from have stated the order of the surahs was also via Allah through Angel Jibreel (alayhi salaam) to the Prophet (sallahu alayhi wasalaam), and have shown the divine structure through that order of surahs as well.
An amazing lecture. Thank you so much for these profound reflections. I was particularly caught by the illuminating comments you made related to time and then when you went on to redescribe the cave for us, both in its physical and spiritual dimension. JAk wa al-hamdulillah.
Thank you for the great presentation. One note: for next session please don't forget to full screen the presentation (like in the last session) so it's easier to read. Thank you once again.
Salam, first JZK u khair. Just a thought it occurred to me the story of musa (A.S.) & khizr also offers a different perspective on morality/ethics and our limitations in understanding Allah's supreme Adl(justice).... also pertinent to ppl's questioning of evil and perceived absence of justice in our world perhaps?
Question: Assalamu'alaykum How does the Islamic perspective of entering the cave and experiencing "The Divine" differ from the Christians or the Shaymans? Many of the Sufi's have 40 day seclusions which I guess is the sense depravation that opens up the inward eye. How are we to level this with someone who doesn't believe in anything undergoing this act of sense depravation (by whatever means) - will he still experience the wonders? I book I partially read recently talked about someone who fasting for 8 years and said he was "illuminated" by the end but he didn't pray or accept the ritual prayers although he claimed to be Muslim. Depending on the answer to the above can one argue that to the reach the Divine (or illumination) its about having the correct "technique" and not the Religion?
Question for Dr. Samir: What is the general Ulema concensus regarding the kahf chapter being in general a chapter addressing the Christian trinity doctrine and that the cave companions story to be related to Christian men distancing themselves from the community that has began to follow a distorted version of Christianity (which would make them Unitarians). If that's the case, how does this tie with the deeper parable of inward contemplation? Thank you
Really enjoyed this analysis. In a completely respectful and serious way, the experience of those in the cave sounds like that under the use of psychedelics. Entering a dream but actually waking up in the real world, temporal shifts and deep spiritual experiences. Controversial to say this today with the current culture and attitude towards certain substances but it wouldn't be that far fetched to imagine people had access to and widely used psychoactive plants resulting in the events we read about in holy scriptures.
Psychedelic substances cause dreams which don't effect reality it is just a warped reality but these events have been documented in history eg the splitting of the moon. Another example the ascension of the prophet pbuh he had seen caravans that were travelling and that was correct

Jazak Allah, are these information available in written form or published somewhere?

Nothing organic can cause any sort of deep psychosis.

Can the image at 8 minutes be shared with us somehow?
