Albanian Lute is still used in North Albania - I do not have archaeological expertise to tell you whether it is an Albanian instrument or if it is serbian, or if it came from the Steppes. It is beautiful, its music makes you cry; for us Albanians Catholics in North play it more and they sing a time by-gone when land and people were free - the Albanian Epos (I have heard Montenegrins and us have a very similar saga), sings to the valleys high in the mountains with white and yellow flowers and mother who lost her son and cried to give her life to get her son out of the tomb - she cried to the moon and to the forest to burry her and let her son run free and alive again.... I don't know when those lyrics were first sang, but they were inherited down generation from generation. There are no words on the epic songs against serbs; just singing to the nature and freedom. The Albanian saga/epic ends with "black arap" coming from the sea ... the legend has it most probably Ulcinj ... arab/saracen invasion whatever; our saga ends before the guns were used in battle.
