Good overview, I'm really liking this video format. I've noticed the water in my 30l Cube stays brown on its own, so maybe due to the piece of Corbo-root and the botanicals, so I've not added any tea yet. The water in the 60U stays perfectly clear, so Hornwood doesn't release a lot (in any) tanins, I guess. Got to get me some tea for that one. Another general observance: most Crypts don't seem to do very well in my setups for some reason, except Balansae, which takes some time, but then does very well.
Thanks, I am planning to do the same video format for all the aquariums (series). It will always be the last video in the series and I will share my input and observations. It is funny that the water stays brown on its own because I always have the opposite happen; if I want water to stay brown for the blackwater aquarium it will clear in a couple of days and if I want clear water the wood will leach a lot of tannins. Regarding Crypts if you are using potted plants they take forever to grow but once they start growing they are generally fine. I mostly use Crypts that are already established from all those terracotta pots in breeding aquariums. They grow much faster than a potted plant and they tend to melt less if the plant is already established.
Yes, they were potted plants, but they're in the aquarium for a while now. I'm thinking I used too little soil and too much gravel in those particular spots. I'm using liquid fertilisers and added root tabs, but they're just standing there and then dissolve. A bit like Vallisneria, which also doesn't work for some reason. Weird. 🤔
They like root tabs so maybe they don't have enough nutrients. Regarding light I had them grow in ambient light only so I am sure that is not the issue. Even if the leaves dissolve it is important that the root system is healthy and the leaves will regrow eventually.
@@Scaperoot79 if you remember Mr. Ice cube the alien Betta he is still alive. He had issues with his swim bladder so I moved him in 40G (160L) aquarium with a lot of guppies that I am selling on my website. He doesn't swim a lot.

I've added some of the root tabs that came with ADA Amazonia v2 and did an extra dose of liquid fertilser yesterday. Let's see if it works out.

Another beautiful scape! What would be the biggest tank you think a Betta can do well living in?
