22:13 this point is actually specified in the games rules itself. In the spell WaterWalk, it defines lava as a liquid that you still take damage from walking over. So, DnD 5e classifies lava as a liquid
The earth genasi swimming in lava is cool. I’d give him the fire resistance for the lava and full swim speed. But If he does survives then his inventory would be completely gone. Money, items, magic items, all gone.
6:47 - A terrible PC death 13:50 - Players go Always Sunny In Philly with campaign clues (image) 17:50 - Earth Genasi player arguing that he should be able to swim in lava 23:48 - Not every session is a banger. 38:15 - Are you actually friends with your party mates? 52:52 - Mind goblin Art 55:48 - Human wild magic sorcerer
Bully hiding his face in the back of the couch🤣🤣 Edit to add: my group started off as complete strangers with the exception of 1 other play. And now after 3 years, I would consider them my friends. I’m so fortunate to have them! We hang out via discord one days off when we can, on the weeks we dont have session we still meet up for a movie or gaming, and exchange presents on occasion.
14:58 For a second I thought you were going to say, "The first clue may have been in game zero, where I asked if it would be fun if I ran a False Hydra campaign."
One way my team deals with burnout but not wanting to not hang out during our allotted time is by just hanging out and doing something different. We watch movies, play games like among us and phasmophobia. That way whoever needs the break gets a break and we all still have fun and hang out together!
With the "swimming through lava" bit, it sounds to me more like flavor than not taking damage. Like he gets pushed in and goes, "Okay, well I have fire resistance, so I just start backstroking through the lava while grinning at the guy who pushed me," and the DM going, "No you don't, you can't swim in lava," and that's what led to the argument. The player needs to know that resistance doesn't prevent all damage; I think they were just trying to have some fun and the DM was Erm Acktually-ing that.
I feel like in our game the lava thing would work because we interpret lava as solid (for the same reason, Water Walk doesn't work on lava, despite it being specifically mentioned in the spell). I know some people who would insist on lava being a thin liquid in D&D and not a stone though
Pretty much my whole extended group of people I play DnD with (as well as Monster of the Week and Kids on Brooms) are my friends, and that’s the reason we play together. I will say I became much closer with two of my friends (one started as a friend of a friend in the wider group, the other was a good friend in my major but we’d hardly hung out outside of the music building/events with colleagues) through DnD. The only person in the group who I’m not really friends with is my fellow player/person I DM for/GM’s boyfriend, and I plan to remedy that partly through playing with him.
My group is my best friend and his partner. Two of their friends and two of my old work friends. I started as acquaintances with a couple of them but they're all my friends now.
Im in a game with my partner. Im not friends with any of the others outside of dnd. Though 2 of them are my metas so i imagine ill keep some contact w them game or no. But they arent personal friends.

On a one shot we just homebrewed it so that the wild magic went off with EVERY levelled spell... Chaos but so much fun

I once had an enemy use hallucinatory terrain and make lava look like water..... the triton had a very unpleasant swim😂
Stay away from lava 😂
