I just purchased my first 3/8 snap on ratchet the other day. Think its the same one you have and I can't wait to try it out at the shop. Amazing toolbox tour. I think this is the first one I've seen where someone actually uses Tekton impact sockets, and I love them. Although after using some snap on ones from the master tech, I'm hoping to upgrade in the future.

I was so excited when I saw this video on my recommended. I’m in college right now and I have to have an internship to end the schooling and I’m going to try to get it at a Subaru dealership. I love watching tool box tours just to see what everyone has that gets used a lot so I can make a mental list of things that are useful, I have the Milwaukee electric ratchet and I love that thing. Those mountain wrenches are high on my list, I see those is a lot of tool box tours and I’ve definitely had some things that would be easier with those things. Great video and great quality!

    • @everydayinvestor6718

Wow, thank you so much for watching! I'm so glad my videos can help other people. Those mountain wrenches are one of my MOST used tools. They get in really tight spaces and last a long time. I've put a lot of torque on those and they are holding up really good. Good luck with your internship!

I like how you say you don't see the need for only snap on. I see that as the sign of mechanic that has been around long enough to see value in what's needed verses getting into large amounts of debt to look a certain way. The tool trucks are convenient and can help you in a jam. They also provide the specialty tools that aren't sold cheaper with quality or just sold at all from cheaper places in general. Getting your hands on the tools you need, especially when starting out is hard enough for young techs... it don't need to be made even more difficult taking far longer to acquire what you need to the jobs.

Nice video and nice box setup. I totally agree that you don't need Snap-on everything. Often they are very high on the price range. Often you can get better value on other brands. Although the sticker shock has caused me buyer's remorse, I have never regretted any of my Snap-on tools. "I'll never get my money's worth out of that but I'm glad I have it". I'm sure any tech will know what I mean.

  • @koskey06
    @koskey06 5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

Finally a mechanic who admits that you don't need Snap-on everything! My opinion is the only thing really worth buying Snap-on is there ratchets. And maybe a few other specialty tools if you work at a dealership or something we're buying a specialty tool he's worth it because you are using it everyday. And even though Snap-on ratchets or expensive they at least Phil worth it when you hold them in your hand. Every tool that you will use all day every day pretty much I think that is worth it to spend the money on a quality ratchet that suits your needs. The biggest thing for me regarding tools, is a lifetime warranty. As long as it's of decent quality for the price you're paying and has a warranty that is easy to use when needed then why spend $200 on a Snap-On tool when you can buy the same tool for 10 bucks and probably has an easier / faster warranty service since you don't have to wait for a truck or Snap-on to mail you a replacement after you mail yours back in. Pretty much every tool I own that Snap-on I purchased used and they all work perfect and save me a boatload of money. And yes I've had a few break on me foot with the lifetime warranty it's easily replaced and most of the time upgraded to the newer style if they don't make the older style anymore!

    Hello Edison Wu,
I just finished watching your Snap-on toolbox inventory. Very good looking toolbox & a nice collection of tools too. Very well organized. If I have any problem with your video it would be that you might explain a little to much about to many things. Makes the video a little drawn out & long for mechanics that have been machining for a while but still like to watch other Tech's toolbox inventories. I know how hard it is to make these videos. I finally did mine here on TH-cam bout 16mo's ago. Thanks for sharing your toolbox inventory with us.

I'm about to commit to this box. Do you think you'll ever need something bigger though? Not sure whether to go straight for an epiq or spend a few years filling up one of these first.
    Cheers.

Which model box is that. In that size, they make 2 different grades of boxes (KRA,KRL). Both are good. But the more expensive one (KRL) is deeper and you can literally put 250-300 pounds in every drawer (like stand up in every one) . Has chrome separators between the banks of drawers. Dual sliders on every drawer deep enough to put two. Nice box you have. Got it plumb full. I’ve got the long KRA “classic” box in royal blue. With the steel top. I am also a Subaru mechanic of sorts, at a small mom and pop shop in Indiana.

Awesome to hear from another Subaru mechanic. The KRL master series box is really nice but would have made my wallet a lot lighter haha. Mine is the KRA2422 classic series. Thanks for watching!

I really like that tool box and it's color. Sadly the company I work for just changed their "policy" and provided everyone with the same tool box in the same color. I never had the chance to buy one and most people wasn't happy after spending around 10k on their boxes and taking them home to catch dust.

    • @everydayinvestor6718

Thanks for the compliments! I can see how that can be frustrating for everyone in your company. I hope they at least provided you guys with decent tool boxes. Work hard and keep on wrenching!

    • @favioescalon528

@@everydayinvestor6718 well, we got the classic 78 but is the regular one, not like yours with the 2 top long drawers. We only got one in a blue color that we dont like lol. As Diesel Mechanics we need a lot of things and bigger tools and lots of specialty tools so doing this pretty much limits the work we do. I'm a new technician and I hadn't bought a box yet so i ended benefiting from it, I still dont like it though because since they bought the boxes now they tell us things like "Don't leave that on top of the box, is company property blah blah blah" that kind of bs that didn't happen when we had our own boxes.

Hey Nice box. Color is also cool. Did they have that color box on truck or did you have to special order. Was there additional charge also. I agree with Josh A variety of good quality tools from other well built tools is good. I have Snapon but since a theft of too many I stock it with other quality brands one of which is Carlyle Napa. I also like Tekton. I like and would stick to a Snapon box personally a service cart flip up top KRSC46. I work on small engine equipment shop so I come to find I really only need certain amount of tools to do the job. My shop isn’t big so my tool box space is limited. Excellent video.
