    Hi,
    By the fact this vid is more than a year old, I don't know if you'll ever read this message.
    Anyway ... gonna give it a try.
    More than a year passed after publishing date, but still very useful series. Thanks Brad.
    One question I'm having... in the beginning of this vid, you're giving a demo...
    Now, the Number of Linux votes is increased, but not the number of votes itself....
    Any reason why this is (not) happening ?
    Thanks in advance for taking your time to reply.

    Is it possible to replace the "items" by images and make the vote trigger upon clicking the image to vote? Can you also disable all items upon clicking one temporarily so clickbots don't work?

    I always have trouble with mongoDB when i have to use it.

    Getting fed up. Using pusher-js in nodejs only receiving an event once i.e sending LEFT, UP, DOWN, RIGHT from client is only received once no matter how many times I send those events. Is pusher-js keeping track of events??

    Is Pusher something that might replace socket.io?

    • @TraversyMedia
      @TraversyMedia  6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Replace? no I don't think so. I think it is just another option. Just like PubNub. In fact it may be a good video idea to do a little comparison. Here is an interesting link - stackshare.io/stackups/pusher-vs-socket-io

    I don't get which part of this is programming. It's just modules + modules. Too much abstraction, I didn't learn more than if I would... using a drag n' drop premade mock-up thing. Or am I wrong and this is back-end?

    what's the difference between socket.io and pusher

    • @devilmanscott
      @devilmanscott 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Socket IO is a library which you have more control, Pusher you're using someones API to achieve it, it's dependant on how much control you want.

    Hello Brad , i bought your JS course on udemy and wondering which path to choose after it front or back. I am not a very design heavy creative person and really struggle with those sick CSS styles. But having some past JAVA,C experience made learning JS easy for me. I have researched a lot for backend but it seems like its tough to get backend jobs as a fresher with just knowing nodejs. Should i go with Angular, React framworks after your course or focus on Node? Can someone with not a very bright mind in design aspects do well in front end? Lot of confusion. Thanks for any help and course is also great with all the new ES6 features.

      Although this webpage isn't being updated, it's actually still a pretty good resource for finding out the popularity ratio of job postings vs job searches:
      www.indeed.com/jobtrends
      Just type in the names of all the skills you want to compare, and it spits out a graph with the relevant data for the preceding 4 years. Just be aware that you'll have to compare the numbers yourself, because they've since removed the functionality of the chart doing it for you.
      For example:
      www.indeed.com/jobtrends/q-javascript-q-react.html
      Toward the end of 2017, the stats for JavaScript were:
      > ~~ 0.84% Posting Index
      > ~~ 0.0390% Seeking Index
      for React at around the same time, the stats were:
      > ~~ 1.61% Posting Index
      > ~~ 0.0157% Seeking Index
      at around the end of last year, there were roughly, approximately 21 times as many JavaScript job openings as there were people actively looking for those jobs, and at about the same time, there were roughly, approximately 102 times as many React job openings as there were people actively looking for them.
      Granted, this is a highly imperfect system, and seeing that they've ceased maintaining the page, it's hard to know what the trends are right now. Nonetheless, it's a pretty useful tool to get a vague, approximate idea of what's in demand more or less by fiddling around.

      i figured it out, for some reason the newer cdn stylesheet for materialize inside the head wasn't creating the circles like the version brad uses in this video.
