    I love that you keep it the video positive! Many people associate everything negative with SierraLeone which is a shame because your country has so much potential if everyone works together.

    My parents both grew up in freetown and my mom came to America in '86 and my dad in '96. I was born in '99 and grew up in houston texas ever since. I've been hearing stories my parents told me about their homeland, the struggles, walking barefoot to and from school and getting whopped or kneeling down on hot concrete for an hr if they were late, my dad growing up in a village, and such. But seeing more and more blk ppl in America going to africa and saying how it's so refreshing to see alot of ppl look like us, the clean food, the culture, how black ppl are appreciated and such is making me wanna come. Even hearing you speak creole so naturally is refreshing to me since my folk speak creole. I very rarely hear creole being spoken in public here. I hope to come to africa one day to see where my parents grew up and the greatness of africa

      Hello Black ice, thank you for being here! Reading your comment sent me down memory lane. My dad also told me similar stories. I went to school in Freetown too and I remembered getting a good whipping by the teachers at School. If you get the chance to visit in future, definitely visit. Its always great to touch base with your root. Africa is beautiful and I pray that one day, it will be united. Since 2020, I now visit Freetown every year. I feel so at home!

      Hey Zenith. I usually go shopping in the morning before it gets super busy. Price of groceries depends where you shop. If you’re going to the supermarket it’s always more costly… but I love the experience of going to my local market..🇸🇱💕

    Hello Yasmin 👋Any advice which area to rent a house or an apartment in Freetown in order to be safe, have hot and cold water and electricity, and be within walking distance to supermarkets and restaurants ( in case being too lazy to cook by myself) 🤔 Thanks

    • @yasminjamaal
      @yasminjamaal  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Theoldgoodsounds. Great to have you here. When I visit Freetown, I usually stay in the western area. If you are staying for a short while, it's best to get an airbnb. I am trying to get in contact with the gentleman that owns a couple of newly built Airbnbs so I can share online.
      .
      Aberdeen road, Wilkinson road are great spots if you want everything close by with easy access to transport but I love Hill station because of the cool climate and how organised and spacious it is. But if you don't own a car in this area, it is a little bit of a struggle but you can get the telephone number of a keke or cab driver. They will take you anywhere you want.
      .
      Regarding safety, Sierra Leone is good on the safety list. But just as it is anywhere else in the world, we have to always take caution. As long as you don't draw attention to yourself by making it known you have valuables on you, you'll be fine. Pickpockets do operate in crowded spots
      .
      I'm told the western area is safer but I know people living east side who have never had a break in or harm done to them. Where ever you decide to live, get to know to your neighbours and the locals in your area. They do look after the neighbourhood.
      .
      If I get better info on places to live, I will attach to comment. :)
