If it’s not too late, I’d consider hiring a wedding videographer or at least a photographer. I was blown away by what they can do. I’ll watch the video on my anniversary just to relive how I felt that day.

Those real estate prices have no relationship to reality. Guessing units average about 100m² (about 1100sf) at $16k per m² we're talking *$1,600,000 USD per unit.* Those are NYC prices. Viet Nam is caught in a massive real estate bubble. I saw the same up in Da Nang but not nearly as bad with some condos doubling in price in a year. You can still built a nice, small and simple home in the country for well under $100k USD which would be a much safer investment.

Markets are forward looking. Investors might just be insanely bullish on Vietnam over the next 10+ years
Imagine if Saigon looks like Shenzhen in 2040.
That said, I agree that it feels overpriced. I'm just explaining why the market might be behaving this way.

Another good video, Chris. I watch your vids every day. I can't wait to get back to Vietnam. I love that country. Seriously considering a part time retirement house in the Da Nang/Hue area to have the best of both worlds. I want to see everything I can traveling around the country.

Definitely watch the Ken Burns series, but do it one episode at a time, there's too much to absorb binge watching it. You are right the US and allies should never have been there. The entire conflict would never have happened if the French had not snubbed Ho Chi Minh at the Paris peace talks in 1919, when he petitioned the French for independence.
Best of luck with your new wife, and life in Vietnam, I have a viet ex wife here in Australia, but I would love to go back again and see more of the country, there are some truly beautiful places and mostly people are incredibly friendly.
Peace and health to you and your new family.

It's wild. I saw a price list from The Marq. It is literally more per sqm than new construction in LA highrises, and the units are getting smaller. If you want to buy new and "western," it's like D2 and D7 as the remaining options, and those places are rising too. And D7 is already called the rich man's district...

When I was married in 2006, the interview was a sticking point. My wife didn't speak English nor Cantonese back then, so technically they would have struck down the marriage application. But since the marriage paperwork was already screwed up (it's a loooong story), I paid to have the process...streamlined. And we're still married 15 years later.

@@beegaming8919 I was introduced to my wife through my hair stylist, whom was the sister-in-law of her sister. We eventually met at the HCMC airport a few months later. This was on a Wednesday. By Saturday, I decided we'd get married. I told her on Sunday. I flew back to Canada, mailed a few thousand dollars to get the marriage preparations done, while I dealt with the paper work. I flew back 5 months later, got married, and dealt with the paperwork nightmare over the next 3 months. Eventually got immigration paperwork approved and put her on a one way ticket to Edmonton. I regret NOTHING. lol

Yes, please watch the Ken Burns documentary. Correct me if I am wrong but I infer from your comment "had our asses handed" that you believe the US and our allies lost the war on the battle field. That is like saying Trump won the last election by a landslide. For people under 70 years old who didn't live through it or did a little study that is a common misconception.

12:05 thats not the war musuem in Saigon i remember going to. Funny story. My bird bought a Tommy Hilfiger shirt with the US flag on (i am ozzy and never wear any flags) and that day i wore it to the war musuem. You probably went to the war remnants museum same as I did (it was 10 years back), very very depressing and a total propaganda exercise. That's the place with the shot up Huey out front. I'm Aussie as well, my Viet partner wouldn't go in.
It took a while to release that the Americans tell one side of the story, the communist Viets tell the opposite side, and some where in the middle is the truth.
