Even if it comes down to 5 or 6 cents per KWh, it's still a renewable resource that's in my opinion more environmental than Wind power (avg turbine in Spain kills ~1,000 birds/bats a year).
Plus, coal and gas prices will rise to about 7 cents in the next decade.
I'm a GW skeptic, but even I advocate a large scale program to develop Thorium. I'm in China and they are developing this, even more than they let on. I can't say more than that. China is betting on Thorium being the next big thing.
Even if it only matches coal at first it still beats the pants off of other CO2 free power plants.
Solar: 23 cents per KWh, wind: 18, coal: 6, gas:5. Thorium: freakin 2
2 is optimistic though. 4 might be more realistic. If it could get down to 4 it'd still beat gas.
