Defamatory statements in employment investigations and disciplinary hearings-can you sue?

    Thanks for the upload and your time Terry. I've recently had accusations against me that were made in bad faith and with malice. Sorry to go against what you say and the to pursue them, being you clearly know more that I ever will haha

    My wife and I are been harrassed and our manager are retaliating against us for no reason. Hes acting with substantial knowledge his doing all this with intentional infliction. Also hes falsely accusing my wife with no evidence of "willful falsification of report/deliberately delaying restricting production" witch the product was never deliver and she never had knowledge of it witch we do have evidence that she never used or was deliver at her location. Over the weekend the product withch shes been falsely accused off it appear outta nowhere and by Monday early morning she got a write up of this accusation with no evidente all. We have ask him to explain himself but his excuse is that his the boss and he doesn't need to explain anything about the write up. We work under unio but union are not doing the right things.
    My wife and I have been working for this company for approximately 3years and we have never broke any safety guideline or any valuations and now in least than 8 day of work she already got 5 writeups and I have one for somethings this manager or any supervisor has never gave us any safety talk on the safety book.
    We are so emotional distress and its affecting every aspect of our lives I really dont wish this on anyone. Our work environment is a hostile environment now

    If Employees creat a WhatsApp group for the purpose of easy communication for work and scheduling purpose, and some employees make a statement that is defamatory in nature, can the affected employee sue their employer for defamation for the action of its employees? Also is it a work relations matter or the civil courts? Thanks

      Defamation is a matter for the civil courts. As for the situation you have described, if the employer is not even aware of its existence it would be hard to hold him liable. But it will depend on all the circumstances of the case.
