Part 2 of sailing my 2010 Precision 18 in the Rocky Mountains during breezy conditions with gusts nearing 30 knots. #coloradosailing #sailing #lakesailing #precision18 #mountainsailing
Well done!! Enjoyed & appreciated the details in the narration. What I was waiting to hear, though, is if 100% of the outing was "comfortable"... w/ the sail area reduced that much, did you feel safe, in-control, and comfortable throughout? Thanks!
@@scottchapman4025 yes, it was all good that day. With the upgrades I’ve made (outhaul, backstay tensioner, 2nd reef point and the 80% jib) the boat can handle a lot of wind. I’ve done up to 28 kts of wind in this configuration. With just double-reefed mainsail only…you could push it even more. Tom Scott (author of “The Trailer Sailor’s Guide to the P-18”) says he sailed in 40 kts on his P-18 with a double-reefed mainsail only.
great explanations of all your actions, with great camera angle. enjoyable and instructive. nice.
@@myogart many thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. ⛵️
