Source - Synth Anatomy 'In version 3.0, you are limited to the integrated factory sample library. Arturia promised in the briefing that sample import would be a free update soon. So, no worries if you don’t find the section on how much sample time you have or where you can import samples in the plugin. It’s coming soon!'
Love the Minifreak- took it out on tour this year and was really impressed by how full and rich it sounded through FOH systems. Also saw a couple of other guys out there using it., I think one of the big pluses is the lightweight nature of the hardware making it portable and tour friendly.. That aside though, great stuff from Arturia as always
It’s just a great synth! I got boutique fancy ones too, but this one is so versatile while so easy to use. Great size to take along to any session and it’s updated and good service. Arturia….great job! Thank you
Who is complaining and about what? There is very little negativity surrounding this synth. Seems like your comment amounts to “Nice update. Lovely synth, decent price”. Yep.
Never heard with these ears nor seen with these eyes any complaints. But I am sure there are some naybobs somewhere saying nay. That's what they do and why they are for. Long live the power of "no" in the mouth of idiots. That way it doesn't come looking for a home in mine.
Hm, I'm dreaming of a "SuperFreak" as the next Arturia Synthesizer. With all the good things from the Mini and Micro plus more knobs bigger Display and the keyboard from the polybrute 12 😊
Anyone complaining is short sighted and ungrateful. Another free update. Just make your own samples with this amazing new engine and use those to make music. I take samples made from the minifreak and load them into the MPC. This will be awesome
Nice update; expecting user samples is a bit much especially from Arturia. Still, overall their product directions remain generally unimpressive. If they made a full size dual "instance" freak with 2 slightly expanded full size interfaces (plenty of room for it) and shared matrix from polybrute plus PB12 keybed for about $1600 they would not be able to make enough of them. We'll never see that.
When they randomly updated the Microfreak, I was wondering how long it would be until they did the same to the Minifreak. I have the vst version and have been looking for a reason to go back to it.
I keep being amazed at people's complaints. Yes, it would be lovely to be able to import your own wavetables and samples, but to talk about "huge disappointment" is really strange for me. The Minifreak is a great sounding machine, it is fun, and hugely inspiring for creating new sounds. And Arturia keep upgrading it at a good speed (quite sure those import options will come soon). But honestly, who would buy this thing and expect it do all the bread and butter duties? I think I needs to stay fun and easy and unusual. Not the machine you would turn to for your grand piano sample. Would it be great to have the import and would it greatly improve the synth? Oh yes! But no room for complaint here, I think, with such a brilliant, sensationally inexpensive machine.
Too much complaining about the user samples but at the same time, i understand. A i can say is to get an akai mpc37 and you'll be able to all that you want to.
Considering it was never sold with that functionality and all this has been added (don’t forget the previous updates) FOC, then yes it’s another reason to love it. For €599 the amount of stuff you can do, plus the sound, is amazing.
I kinda agree in a way. I want my own samples not preset ones. It’s an amazing update for sure. I really like the update. But having my own samples would make it amazing.
@@StarskyCarrI was hoping to replace my blofeld with the MiniFreak since it’s so finicky to add your own samples to it. Alas, not being able to have your own samples onboard is a deal breaker when looking for granular synthesis. If it works for anyone else that’s totally fine, and it’s neat that Arturia keeps updating this product.
I don’t know about that. Implementing this stuff for free after they’ve been selling them for a couple of years is a pretty good show. Adding that could be a step too far for the development team. all sort of complications can arise when adding functions. So for me it’s definitely not a miss. … hey here’s a free thing… OK but could you give me something more please?
I don’t want to moan about a free update but there’s no point in the classic sample engine if you can’t use your own samples 😂 I get it for the granular engine, but not the classic sample engine, who wants to use just the same factory samples as everyone else, also I hope they allow the 2nd oscillator to use samples to blend samples
Apparently it’s coming soon (see pinned comment). But still.. enough unique tones have been made with a sawtooth, square and triangle - so 48 staring points shouldn’t stifle creativity too much.
@@StarskyCarrI always think of it like, if you wanted a romper or a granular sampler, buy that. This is a proper hybrid poly analog macro synth with a great UI and modulation matrix, and now... it also happens to have some additional funzies added later, for $599 come on! It's an incredible piece of kit!

@@garyconnolly4313 thanks for clearing this up 🙏
Hurray! 🎉
anyone knows technically how much can the minifreak store for user samples?
Starsky Carr I so like your attitude and intelligence and curiosity. You do the best synth vids anywhere.
High praise indeed! Thanks :)

Nice update don’t know why people complain about this lovely synth at a decent price

Ok, my MicroFreak is finally starting to get nervous. Nice video 👍

Arturia is on a roll
On Merseyside, Granny La’ synthesis is where you clone your Grandmother.

5:32 orchestral manoeuvres in the minifreak 👍
Can you load samples in the minifreak v?
Great demo ✌️
Do you think they will allow users to upload samples? I feel like that might be cool as hell. Great update even without that honestly!
I’ve no idea. It’s not a sampler after all. I’d like user wavetables first (like the Microfreak).
@ good point!
Interesting! Seems like now the MiniFreak could get closer to some D-50 style LA synthesis sounds with samples combined with other synth engines.
A korg x5d with just 4MB samples sounds damn superb. Pretty sure there’s 4MB free rom space
Insane what has happened to the synth landscape in the past ten years (insert proper emoji)
Minifreak is the best synth in its price range IMO, especially if you get one used for slightly cheaper.
I own one, like that machine but i got unused for 1 year or more.
what speakers do i need for this and what to plug into ?
you'll need powered speakers, or plug into a mixer or amp.

Super cool. Good stuff sir.
Very nice. HW only?
No minifreak v also
@StarskyCarr awesome, thanks for replying mate 👌🏻
They seem to be pushing the fact it's a free update . Do you think they are going to start charging for future ones?
Thanks for vid great as always
I doubt it - they've never charged before

Long Grains! Arturia really riced 🍚 to the occasion 😝
ooooh!
how do you apply the update ?

We need multitrack records. Stack multiple instruments
I will of course put this to good use, but it's very disappointing that there are no user samples. There are only about 50 samples to choose from.

I was only waiting for wavetable import...
Can't wait for the Tasty Chips GR Mega. Hope you review it.
And am beyond frustrated with Aodyo.
Make sure you eat your grains people as part of your 5 a day
So MicroFreak still has an advantage of being able to add your own samples.
yes and wavetable import
Granular seem to always sound the same
No user samples is a huge disappointment, not a "reason to love" it

This is probably a matter of time 🙂
what does no user samples mean ? because I know you can save your own patches you’ve created
No user samples. That's a swing and a miss.
Yeh I honestly though, samples = our samples. But it's all free so maybe in the future

Way too complicated for me
Haha… just twist the knobs h til you find something cool … it won’t take long!
Jippie! I love free updates.
Even if they are grain sized😉
