      i don't know, Drinking coffee using a Glass handle-less mug! coz "UX said so" i think it's not OK and specially if you are using computer.. i might need waterproof keyboard coz my hands moves fast when working 😑

      @@skilled-person Hey, hahaha! Good point, BUT the glass material is maybe throwing people, it's a simple everyday comparison to showcase some key UX thinking. The Glass ones are actually very well insulated / designed, and you don't feel the heat at all through it. Unlike the traditional porcelain ones.

      @@AJSmart hmm, good point, see like i said before: Good UX always strong with you have marketing mindset, in this example if you emphasis the double sided glass feature and how it protect my hand from the heat, this could be value proposition for this item, i consider buying the glass one after knowing this,

      Great video, always nice to watch the stuff you guys are doing! From my POV I think you are missing a quite important point about UX: expectations of users, so everything BEFORE actual usage. Most of what Dee talks about is actually UI Design, not so much UX. Of course UI is a vital part of UX, with usability and aesthetics again being a vital part of the UI. But knowing and meeting the expectations of the user is what makes a good experience. Using the coffee cup example: if the primary need is „having a well decorated and perfectly looking breakfast table“ than the white cup might eventually result in a better UX than the glass one...

      The most important point is double glass the first layer won’t get hot and you have full hand to handle it. The design is unique and different. Was a clever safe useful design. The white mug is traditional because human brain work everyday in circles we get used to do the same everyday that why you feel safe about the white mug but don’t worry the glass mug will give you the same work as the white one. It’s about opening the clients Appetit to try the new product.

    • @yuripravdin4567
      @yuripravdin4567 3 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      @@lillykeule5416 I just like the handle, it feels cozy. With the clear one, it doesn’t feel nostalgic, it feels like a glass of water. I get where you are coming from, thats why i think design needs to evolve slower. Slowly transition into new ideas without making the user think they are radical.

    I can't agree with the glass cup having a better user experience. I always avoid them. You can't feel how much the coffee or tea has cooled down, from the outside. I burn my mouth a lot on these glasses. 🙃

      Ceramics are a natural insulator and they will never get that hot to burn the user. The glass cup w/o the handle is a nightmare if it is slippery. You will end up wearing that hot coffee or the cup will fall and break. Id buy the ceramic cup with the handle because it might not be as cute but it is much more usable. I have a coffee press that is the insulated and and the seal only lasts for about a year before it break and the water gets between the glass walls. I was hoping that UX was more like ergonomics/human factors engineering.

  • @KelmoMusic
    @KelmoMusic 5 ปีที่แล้ว +420

    One thing I find interesting is the 'desirability' aspect and how that will change from person to person. Some will desire the glass coffee cup because its functional and 'sexy' in a modern way, but some people will find the white mug more desirable, even though it's less 'usable,' because it's a classic design - it makes people feel a certain way. So yes, the glass cup is a better user experience, because it covers all three areas, but no matter how good the user experience is, human behavior will ultimately determine which experience they choose. Sometimes one of those 3 areas will trump the other 2 for a person. I don't know what my point is here, but it was an interesting thought :P

      Agree. But adding something else to your comment, I even find those 3 areas subjective as well. What other person said in the comments, you cannot feel how hot is the coffee in that glass, you may burn yourself. I don't even like coffee in glass, for me it goes right away to mugs. So, in my case, that glass it only covers usability. But I guess UX design is about the majority of people

    • @NateBazooka
      @NateBazooka 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Agree, although even the usability is arguable
      I don't like that particular mug, but
      a) drinking coffee is a ritual, it is done from a mug. that is part of the ritual.
      b) the warmth of the mug in your hands is part of it, and part of waking up
      c) they're both too damn small
      However, people are different and have different emotions tied into different processes.

    • @suzycue303
      @suzycue303 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I agree- some people may just be used to having a cup with a handle. It may be what they grew up with. Another point I’d want to bring up is that a lot of people like mugs for the design that’s on the cup. Like when you go on vacation, and bring back a coffee mug with the locations name on it.

      I think if the glass cup had a handle, I’d go for it. But if I walk into my friends house, have a sudden want for coffee, and see these cups side by side, I’d go for the mug. This is because I don’t know the clear cup is for coffee, and even if I did, I’d be scared I’d drop it. If the clear mug had a handle, then I’d go for it and think “oh, cool a clear mug!”

    Many people have told me to get into UX design. However, I have some reservations that lead me to ask a few questions:
    1.) Is this often a remote position? I live away from almost any tech company and don't really want to move due to family, friends, etc.
    2.) Is this a people intensive job? Will I be around a lot of people, talking to them, engaging them, etc or can the job be done relatively remotely? Generally speaking, would it be groups of 20 or more I would be around?
    3.) How is work often doled out? Do I have a week's worth of work and need to get it done in a week? Basically, do I need to work 9 to 5 Monday through Friday, or can I work on things anytime I want as long as I get it done?
    Thank you for your time in trying to answer these questions.

    Great definition for UX design! I also have 10+ experience and always face with a standard scheme in vacancies which is not practical in reality. Regarding the presentation, for me best UX design works without any explanation. That's why I only create clickable, tappable prototype and give to my colleagues, developers, managers, etc. without explanation or user flow schemes. If anyone asks a question, I go through that part again refining, simplifying it, till there is no question from anyone. At the end the design looks very simple and clear to understand and mainly it does not make users think.

The car design field is becoming highly competitive and I’m afraid that there aren’t enough jobs to go around. Schooling for transportation design is also very expensive. I’m extremely passionate in this area but wondering if UX is something I would enjoy.
    First off could you tell me what schools offer some of the best programs in UX design?
    Also, will the field be consistently growing? Are there a good amounting jobs to go around? What do salaries look like?
    Is there much coding involved because I have more skill and interest in industrial/product design?
    Where are some places you could be working at in UX and what kinds of people do you work with?

So I've always been wondering how can a solo person do ALL of it. Or do I need to hire graphic designers EVERY time to make the websites look more beautiful or artistic.
      Or maybe freelancing isn't the ideal thing for a UXer? Is it?

Also would I need to have any other certified skillsets to position myself as a viable candidate for hire? I do not have a bachelors degree.

    Honestly, UX design as a field is completely unnecessary and useless. They dont really "create" or "design" anything. A good designer is able to determine if something is useful, accessible, etc. Yes some ux people make wireframes, but if you ever look at them, you might as well just hand over a list of things that need to be designed. Typically UX people are wanna be designers but just arent that good at design, so they created this new field to feel like they matter.

    Can you please create more content based on what it takes to build and grow your own UX Design Agency and what it takes to get one started.Also emphasize on how pricing for service delivery is structured,what determines pricing of a product and how remuneration is arranged for your employees.
    Reason why I ask this I because some or most of your viewers are not necessarily from Europe or the USA.Some are actually from Africa,believe it or not digital transformation in Africa is set to double a couple of years from now.And UX is relatively still a very new topic in Africa and it's set to grow as years go by.Do you get the point I'm trying to get across?

    Here’s mine ;
    what ? Back then ( before AI era) UX is basically a part of product design that specifically focusing on the product user experience when use a product. But UX design today is more like a “term” to specify a web design ( apps) skill in the next level.
    Why ? There a more and more human activities transform into digital and that need to be done properly or like you said better and better. And those activities need to be done through our gadget (digital device & platform)
    How they work; UX design need to break down every single piece of those activities (physical transform into digital mindset ) and find the spot of improvement to be better (faster, engage, connect with the user)
    Thanks AJ& Smart 👍👍👍
