I think foreigners find our choices weird for Eurovision because they start from the hypotesis that we choose songs to send to the Eurovision, but it's not like that. For us Italians, Sanremo is way more important than Eurovision; we are not choosing the song to send to Eurovision, but the song which deserves to win Sanremo. We're crowning Sanremo's pearl and celebrate this amazing festival. For us Sanremo's week is holy and magical. Eurovision is just like a bonus, but Sanremo definitely has our hearts. Hope it makes sense now
girl you literally made me feel soooo proud of my country. the fact that other people, from other countries, can appreciate our music is mind-blowing, amazing!
I definitely agree!! Italy's secret to come up always with top quality is not to think about Eurovision but they just choose the best song, not the best show. And who cares if they win or not, the best thing is that we'll have them at the ESC.
I cried when I heard this first. There is so much emotion in this song, proof that you dont need to know the language or understand a language to understand emotion
I think it's twice as beautiful live. Studio or live though, it's the best song so far by a country mile, even if I like most of the songs that are out. I guess Italy will always have that stamp of quality when it comes to lyrics, I haven't had them outside the top 10 in my personal ranking since 2016
I agree with you, the in the live perfomance the voices are not so overproduced as in the recorded version and it sounds way more enjoyable to my ears. Also, it was one of the few Sanremo performances that was perfectly executed and played.
Blanco is 18 and the youngest male to ever win Sanremo. He started making music only recently, during the first pandemic and started on his own, he’s crazy ahaha but extremely talented and I love his voice. I think their voices are just perfect together, which is not that simple. I’m just so happy they won, this song is simply a gem 💎
So I heard this the first time, and was immediately intrigued and impressed, even though it’s not my usual genre. And the second time through it is unique and beautiful, but more importantly my brain loves it, and I want to hear it again. That just doesn’t happen with 99% of Eurovision type stuff for me. Thanks Rachel for confirming that I’m not an outlier. And, yes Italy again, never in my wildest dreams did I expect to be obsessed with Italian musicians like Maneskin.
that's because artists partecipating in Sanremo don't write Eurovision type music... they write and compose music for the Sanremo music festival, where the actual best song wins...
Randolph, do remember that songs for San Remo are created all but ignoring ESC conventional Wisdom.. It is the Festival of Italian Song after all. THe winner isnt even obligated to go, it's a right of first refusal. See 2016: Stadio (band) won, but had too many concerts in conflict, so they passed the ESC invite to Francesca Michielin (who took 2nd again last year, and this year showed up as CONDUCTOR for Emma Marone, and permed the duet with her - Britney Spears of all thing!).
This is my favorite song of 2022, not just Eurovision. I have listened to it probably 1,000 times and that's not an exaggeration! Just love it - win or lose it's my winner!
One of the things I most like is the fact that they are singing in Italian. Please, I need more songs where the artists sing in their own language. It's so much beautiful!
I've been getting into Italian songs more now since I've started learning Italian last year and I don't even know how to explain what this song made me feel, I've been listening to it nonstop since they sang it for the first time and it's just... perfect. They are perfect together, I'm so so so happy they won. It's also the first time I've watched Sanremo and I love everything about it ❤️
If you want to know something more about great Italian lyrics, you should listen to the classical '900 "cantautori" (singer-author) of our music. Just like De Andrè, Dalla, De Gregori, Guccini... and you'll discover another beautiful side of this music! Enjoy :)
Beautiful, I think this is one of the potential winners, so Italy would list itself as one of the countries that won the competition on its own soil, like Ireland did twice so far! Mahmoud&Blanco BRAVOOOOOOOOO....what a CANCONA just takes my breath away!

In "Brividi" two boys, belonging to two generations, love with the same enthusiasm and the same fears - the fear of making mistakes and feeling inadequate, unable to convey what one feels - and with the desire to love in total freedom giving all of himself . The "romantic" vision (" I dreamed of flying with you / On a diamond bike") and the more realistic and passionate one ("you, who stain the bed with wine / you, who bite my skin") of love are united by the desire to live a pure and all-encompassing feeling, breaking down barriers, in complete freedom. The song itself contains in part all the meanings of the word "shivers": from that caused by the cold to the feverish one of passion. But the most obvious pivot remains that of fear that generates insecurity. Like the fear of being inadequate for love and for the loved one. A fear that the Mahmood tells from his more mature point of view and perhaps also because of this "wounded" by experience. The same fear sung by the younger Blanco, this time with a still enchanted gaze although the fear remains that of loneliness.
My only fault is that it was released this early in the game, when most other countries have yet to pick their entries. Hope it's magic won't be lost. Otherwise, a 10/10 song. Gli Italiani sono davvero bravi!!
well, it hasnt truly hurt them at al lsince their return in 2011; 2014 poor performance was basically overproduction/overstaging, and 2016 was again overstaging (flawless song tho). Other than those two they have been kicking major ass since returnign, and are now duking it out with Sweden for dominance (Ireland who?). I dont see Ireland or UK ever challenging againas long as the dinosaurs in charge of RTE and BBC are still around. RTVE (Spain) finally said "f**k this" and threw everything out and started again with BEnidorm Fest this year, and look what we got as a result? Germany also needs a major rethink.
This is just an outstanding song - without a doubt a run away winner at the moment. It's modern and sophisticated and the jury is going to vote for this hand over fist.
I love you because you were able to break down the song in a way I never could. I'm not as versed in the vocabulary of the anatomy of a song so thank you for highlighting all the same parts I love that I couldn't find words for. And the butter/flour/roux reference was spot on!
You're so sweet, yes this song is complex and totally giving us shivers. So happy they won. It's my first time voting at sanremo , and did it for them.
Blanco is only 18 and his mastery of voice and stage is stunning for his age. Yes, unlike other countries, Italy doesn’t choose a song expressly for the ESC. I was looking forward to your review, song that goes straight into your heart mahmood and exceptional and Blanco who is just 18 years old and already a great artist I hope we will win again 🇪🇺
When she started to get emotional I absolutely felt that, because as soon as you read the beauty formed of words you can’t help getting emotional about it. Such a magical song and angelic voices. 🇮🇹🙌🏻

I have been watching reaction videos for hours and almost every one loves this, except for one. The vevo video has the English translation on it. Just incredible! So incredibly moving! I love this so so so so so so so much!
Definitely on an upper level. Outstanding singers and song. Also their performance of 'Il Cielo in una stanza' of Gino Paoli was very delicate and respectful. Yes... all the web is getting crazy and doing covers of 'Ciao Ciao' of 'La rappresentante di lista', but the guys deserved the victory, for sure.
Because "Ciao Ciao" is what we Italians have been wanted for years: we have plenty of great songwriter, young, talented, making beautiful music and poetry... But rarely they make "easy music", and it's quite...mmh... challenging listening to their music. La Rappresentante di Lista (which usually do nice but weird stuff) decided to bring in Sanremo a real indie pop / funky / dance funny piece, very catchy, very international, but which is...not funny at all... :D :D :D It's an angry song, filled with status quo rebellion, like Dargen D'Amico's "Dove si balla". And we Italians, after 2 awful pandemic years, are loving It :)
Amazing...your reaction is precious for us..we can understand how an Italian song could enter into a mind,a soul,of a foreigner..,u always read and comprehend the meaning..I hope it would be the same at Eurovision...I think mahmood deserves something more than the second place for the songs he did in these years..and Blanco is 18 years old my god...thanks from Italy
Your reaction in this song and the Greek song is priceless...It shows how music can make someone radiate with emotions and vibrations which then reflect to those of us who can relate...just priceless, so happy i found your channel !
From all the Italians who commented on your video: you are so sweet, they should give you Italian citizenship for the reactions and finally someone who knows about music who makes good reviews. We Italians thank you, a hug ❤️
Same reaction when I heard it first time, it blew me away and it still does. The incredible talent Mahmood has in composing and arranging a song is unbelievable and together with Blanco raw heart and emotional generosity make this song a masterpiece. Really hope Europe and the world could feel what we felt coz they deserve everything.
Thank you for your (as usual) detailed, complete, educated and emotional reaction to Mahmood and Blanco's Sanremo winning song. I'm Italian, I watched all the Sanremo contest and this was my personal winner since the first listen. I've been a fan of Mahmood since he won Sanremo in 2019 and I'm discovering Blanco now. Keep reacting to Italian music. I watched all your Maneskin reactions and am happy you like them as well
@@antonellacusimano7070 sarebbe un'errore secondo me però devo dire che comunque mi devo fidare di due artisti e delle loro scelte più che del mio modesto parere, vedremo cosa faranno. 🙏🤗
Uptempo 'Ciao ciao' and 'Chimica' would be the easiest choice. But then, as we learnt in Italy thanks to decades of Sanremo, winning is not important. What counts is to develope good music and a proper message.
Dearest Rachel, 1) Thanks, very thanks, as usual I don't know if I'm more excited by the beauty of the song or by the passion of your reactions. ..Your highest quality, and that you are able to express in words, with your competence and your passion for music, what I honestly would not be able to express, if not with emotions 2) very important. you asked about Blanco .. he must turn 19, and he writes and sings from God ... (as a class and category, in my opinion, we are on the same level as Damiano) .. his album "Blu celeste" the first days that it is released a few months ago, it was in the first three places of the Spotify world chart. This album is a gem for me ... an absolutely unexpected find, and absolutely adored among young people in Italy. 3) his lyrics are incredibly new, honest, a "true" writing, not rhetorical, deserves your listening th-cam.com/video/EA58w_cxAAg/w-d-xo.html this is the Blu Celeste link, I would love to hear this song, and the album, and have your reaction. Ciao!
Out of all the reactions, yours is the one I feel closer to. Thank you for mentioning the complexity of the chords and chord progression. This song was my personal winner since their first performance at Sanremo. I don't know how many times I've listened to it already, but there's still something that crawls underneath my skin and gives me goosebumps each time. Especially when the strings enter again in the third chorus after the acappella part. I don't know if they will win the Eurovision, but I'm so proud they won Sanremo (which is a contest of its own and totally independent from the ESC), and I'm even more proud Italy will present a non-standard, top quality, class-act song to Europe.
If you’re interested in listening to blanco you should definitely listen to “lucciole” “notti in bianco” “blu celeste” “paraocchi” “bianco paradiso” he’s only 18 and you can feel all the energy that he has to give in his songs, it’s even better if you understand the lyrics, but the rhythm will make you jump no matter what! At the same time he can make you emotional, like in “blu celeste” which is a song dedicated to his dead brother and it’s completely different from his usual. I hope you react to him💙
I WAS WAITING FOR YOUR REACTION 😍 "Brividi" is my favourite song of Sanremo2022, I've liked it since their very first live performance on Tuesday night: it's kind of captivating and heartbreaking at the same time, their voices together are something out of this world... words can't describe what I felt that night, and what I feel every time I listen to this masterpiece: just chills (= English for "Brividi")! Keep up with the great work Rachel, we really appreciate your reactions! Greetings and a virtual hug from Italy 🇮🇹
Una bellisima y tierna canción que toca el corazón. Dos voces distintas con una única finalidad, la de emocionarte y ponerte los pelos de punta. Muchisima suerte en Eurovisión, mereceis que ganeis de nuevo. A beautiful and tender song that touches the heart. Two different voices with a single purpose, that of getting you excited and making your hair stand on end. Very lucky in Eurovision, you deserve to win again.
with your reactions you always manage to excite us and make us cry with you. you are extraordinary because with your sensitivity you make an analysis that goes beyond and you pass it on to whoever looks at you .... you are great
My winner. But then Italy usually is. At a first listen, in Sanremo, it didn't quite captivate me as I expected, because I adore Mahmood and I had heard one or two things from Blanco and it pleased me. Then, the video, over and over, the lyrics, the instrumentation. The Netherlands has actually come close to the top, but I am totally enchanted by this now. It is great when a song can have so many universes within that you can be amazed again and again. Hope Italy gets the double win. They should have won so many times before.
Hi Rachel, thank you for your heartfelt reaction and for so many musical details, I've found already many hate comments for this song and its win and it's nice to hear positive comments to someone who has actual music knowledge and knot just speak with his ass filled of hate (sorry sometimes you just have to)...I am posting below a quite good translation, I believe this songs really gives the chills and I think only those with a low level of attention cannot get sucked in by the level of emotions its pouring out, something complains "not much happens throughout the song" but that's just because everything happens with the lyrics, it's literally a dialogue between two people having feelings for eachother who struggle in the relationship because one is unable to express his feelings and often ends up hurting the other that eventually can't handle anymore the mean things he's to put up with. The song has been written by Mahmood and Blanco and the producer is Michelangelo, he one playing the piano in both the mv and the live in Sanremo. Mahmood is 29 and Blaco will turn 19 in a few days and they are not in a relationship, they simply are good interpreters and into the song. I think the lyrics are sweet and gut wrenching at the same time.
Thank you. THANK YOU for this review. You listened to every single bit of the song and enjoyed every detail. The live version is more raw and beautiful but the studio version embraces their chemistry as well so I'm really happy you love the song!!
this is by far the most interesting reaction. When people know what they are talking about it is always satisfying. :) Now you have to start to watch the megahits of Blanco "notti in bianco" "la Canzone nostra" "Mi fai impazzire" "Blu Celeste". He's 18 and is the best selling artist of 2021, far more than maneskin. His blend of punk pop is quite interesting, funny and highly satisfying and he's also great in slow and dramatic ballads. It's because of him if Mahmood is having success again after a string of flops
This is the most amazing, complex and emotional song, shockingly brilliant song I've heard in a long time. It should win and is head and shoulders above the rest chosen so far. Italy yet again know exactly how to put forward a QUALITY song with exceptional musical creation. 10/10 - and I'm a very fussy buggar haha - Rachel, PLEASE go see/hear the live version Rachel it is astounding and brings me to tears too
Hi Rachel. Have you ever heard the live version Mahmood and Blanco performed at Sanremo’ Festival? In my opinion, it’s even better than the recorded one.
Check out their live version from San Remo - they sing this even better live! (: (: (: (: I have literally heard this song around 1,000 times already, I love it so much! All-time favorite ESC song! 10 out 10!!!!!

It's an angry song, filled with status quo rebellion, like Dargen D'Amico's "Dove si balla".
And we Italians, after 2 awful pandemic years, are loving It :)
@@saggioepicureo Non me ne parlare: ieri San Valentino, una festa sopra casa mia e 2 sole canzoni ripetute x 3 ore: 'dove si balla' e 'ciao-ciao'🙉
Thank you for your fantastic reaction as usual.
This song is a masterpiece ! Winners alert ! 👏🌹🇮🇹
You really should listen to their version of "Il cielo in una stanza", it gave me real shivers!
You can find it here on TH-cam
Your reaction in this song and the Greek song is priceless...It shows how music can make someone radiate with emotions and vibrations which then reflect to those of us who can relate...just priceless, so happy i found your channel !
This song was definitely my favourite this year- it literally made me cry 😭 I love their voices and the meaning behind the song is also just beautiful
From all the Italians who commented on your video: you are so sweet, they should give you Italian citizenship for the reactions and finally someone who knows about music who makes good reviews. We Italians thank you, a hug ❤️
It gives me brividi and goosebumps. Such an amazing song ❤
It’s so great to finally hear a honest reaction, filled with technical commentary and with a beautiful analysis of the music step by step. Thank you!
Madonna santa speriamo
Thank you for your (as usual) detailed, complete, educated and emotional reaction to Mahmood and Blanco's Sanremo winning song. I'm Italian, I watched all the Sanremo contest and this was my personal winner since the first listen. I've been a fan of Mahmood since he won Sanremo in 2019 and I'm discovering Blanco now. Keep reacting to Italian music. I watched all your Maneskin reactions and am happy you like them as well
I hope you won't be disappointed. I heard that they're thinking of translate part of the song in english for Eurovision. I hope they won't!
@@antonellacusimano7070 i agree. I hope they keep It as It is
This song is amazing. In fact, it's longer than 3 minutes but it sounds short and I just want to listen to more of their beautiful voices.
"A song from the heart of the artist, not made for ESC but for people with a heart and for unlimitless love"
I cried a lot too. That song touches my soul. I hope you see them on stage. Stunning sensations.
Uptempo 'Ciao ciao' and 'Chimica' would be the easiest choice. But then, as we learnt in Italy thanks to decades of Sanremo, winning is not important. What counts is to develope good music and a proper message.
For us Eurovision is like a the icing on a cake. Sanremo for us is what Eurovision is for Europe… if that make sense.
Non mi sono piaciute per niente, le ho trovate imbarazzanti come creazioni musicali.
Dearest Rachel,
1) Thanks, very thanks, as usual I don't know if I'm more excited by the beauty of the song or by the passion of your reactions. ..Your highest quality, and that you are able to express in words, with your competence and your passion for music, what I honestly would not be able to express, if not with emotions
2) very important. you asked about Blanco .. he must turn 19, and he writes and sings from God ...
3) his lyrics are incredibly new, honest, a "true" writing, not rhetorical, deserves your listening
th-cam.com/video/EA58w_cxAAg/w-d-xo.html this is the Blu Celeste link, I would love to hear this song, and the album, and have your reaction. Ciao!
I'm from Italy and I'm so glad that this song will be at Eurovision, goosebumps!
I hope you react to him💙
I WAS WAITING FOR YOUR REACTION 😍
"Brividi" is my favourite song of Sanremo2022, I've liked it since their very first live performance on Tuesday night: it's kind of captivating and heartbreaking at the same time, their voices together are something out of this world... words can't describe what I felt that night, and what I feel every time I listen to this masterpiece: just chills (= English for "Brividi")!
Keep up with the great work Rachel, we really appreciate your reactions!
Greetings and a virtual hug from Italy 🇮🇹
What a sweet soul you are ❤️ I hope it wins I’ve shed a tear over this too
Una bellisima y tierna canción que toca el corazón.
Thank you for understanding Italy without dwelling on appearances. 🙏
You are so sweet and sensitive, it's always a pleasure to watch you...
Greetings from Italy❤️
It stuck in my head ... I sang it non-stop ... the incredible song❤🇮🇹
The song is emotional, but your reaction is even more.....very sincere, accurate, musically informed. Really touching video, apart from the song...
with your reactions you always manage to excite us and make us cry with you. you are extraordinary because with your sensitivity you make an analysis that goes beyond and you pass it on to whoever looks at you .... you are great
This is pure feeling made song. Congratulations Italy and thanks for giving us so many beautiful songs. Grazie mille.
I love your reaction, it is exactly the same as we Italians when we listen to it😭
not as for me
It's because of him if Mahmood is having success again after a string of flops
beatiful song, like a small jewel in this music moment, i agree.
My favorite song for this year. Second year in a row Italy has the best song by far in my opinion. Love it so much
Omg you are too cute 🥺❤️ thank you so much😭❤️❤️
Thanks a lot Rachel. I ask you to react this 3 days ago because I thought it was fair. I’m glad you have had the same reaction I had. 💔
Bellissima reaction, analizzata in modo emozionale e professionale
Italy is a country with big heart ❤ i love this country
This is the most amazing, complex and emotional song, shockingly brilliant song I've heard in a long time. It should win and is head and shoulders above the rest chosen so far. Italy yet again know exactly how to put forward a QUALITY song with exceptional musical creation. 10/10 - and I'm a very fussy buggar haha - Rachel, PLEASE go see/hear the live version Rachel it is astounding and brings me to tears too
I love how your reaction videos get into the technicalities of the music… not just the plain old “I like it” of other channels.
Go Italy 🇮🇹!!!

Hi Rachel. Have you ever heard the live version Mahmood and Blanco performed at Sanremo’ Festival? In my opinion, it’s even better than the recorded one.
A pure beautiful flower in a dry desert .
Simply great !!

La melodia e il testo di questa canzone è bellissima sentimentale, romantica ma nostalgica!!! Grazie per questa poesia 💚🤍❤️
Check out their live version from San Remo - they sing this even better live! (: (: (: (: I have literally heard this song around 1,000 times already, I love it so much! All-time favorite ESC song! 10 out 10!!!!!
