I felt like as I was reading Funny Story that it might have worked better for me as a film. In the book I wanted more from the fake dating drama, I wanted the wedding of the characters ex's to actually happen, more social activities that would bring the conflict of the fake dating to a head. I also wanted a much slower burn for the relationship. Thank you for sharing 💜💜💜
yes!! yes to all of this. I do agree that it would have worked better as a film as well.
2024 was such a mid year for me. Nothing good enough that was truly exciting and nothing bad enough to be interesting.
Love seeing someone else who was not a fan of Funny Story. I feel like I have been alone screaming into the void about my Funny Story feelings.
The Honey Witch could've been SO GOOD! It was so disappointing. I found the pacing to be just bizarre. How long was the journey to/from the island? A few days? A few weeks? I never had any concept of how much time was passing.
Love your videos as always, but as a headphone user, I just wanted to mention that the audio for your new setup tends to crackle like it's overblown and it sounds like you're shouting into the mic even when the volume is low. I do use a very good pair of buds, unsure if it's as difficult to listen to on cheaper buds/headphones with lower sound fidelity
Weird - the audio setup hasn’t changed at all! I’m using the same mic and if anything it is farther away than it was in the old setup 🤔 I’m not sure how to fix this problem as I don’t have any audio issues on my end when I edit or watch once uploaded.
Hellooo. I love a slow roll out of 2024 content. I DNFed Honey Witch pretty quickly 😬 I wanted to love it so much, but couldn't do it.
I liked Starter Villain a lot more than The Kaiju Preservation Society. Could be the fact I love cats. 😂
I read a Hades and Persephone retelling recently with some potential, Scythe and Pen - A. C. Hobbs. I wasn't expecting to like it but i was happily surprised. I wouldn't have picked it except for a recommendation from a friend. (I saw the Hades and Persephone retelling mention in your bio)
I've barely read anything so far this year, so I'm kind of still on 2024, lol
Oh no! A couple books on my TBR have felt echo of the dull blade be unsheathed.
Especially around Faebound and the new Bradley Beaulieu book - we tend to read rather similarly so might skip those.

funny story was my first emily henry book and it was sooooo lame, but i might give another one of her books a chance
Definitely give another one a chance! This is the only book of hers I’ve felt so poorly about.
Sam do not finish Lore of the Wilds! It’s not worth it. The ending is pretty wild but our whole book club agreed the book needed a lot more editing.

I started it but couldn't get into it. Put it aside and haven't had a desire to go back to it. So it may end up on my DNF list....
