(215) ACRYLIC POURING - FLOWER DIP Easy, Stress Free - Using Leftovers from Iris Series

- This is my first go at a dipped painting and I gotta say, it was pretty easy. I didn't need as much paint as I put down; if you are interested in making coasters, you can make a ton of them with this method. It was a great way to use leftover paints; I used my iris flower colors I had left from the series I recently painted. Recipe used is detailed below.
Though it doesn't look much like an Iris flower, I see a grouping of tropical birds, so I think I will be embellishing it when dry. :)

Paints used: Leftovers from Iris Flower Inspired Series. For color specifics, see videos 204 through 210. Each of these were mixed with 1 part paint, 2 parts Floetrol and 1/2 part water plus a bit more water if necessary to thin.
The base was mixed 3 parts paint, 3 parts Floetrol and 2 parts water. I used half Artist's Loft Flow Acrylic white and half Creative Inspirations in Titanium white.

I love doing dips. You're never quite sure what you're going to get! These colours are fab together and it's a great way of using up your leftovers! Can't wait to see you do a series of these! 😍😘
I'm not hooked on them yet, but perhaps if I create a real "wow" piece I will be...time will tell!
This is very colorful, it looks great as is, embellishments would also look fabulous. Love the negative space, it really makes the colors shine.

Sweet. I teach workshops at the Sr center. We did double dips in the last one and everyone was so thrilled with their results. I love doing them. No two are ever alike.

Yep pretty colours Chris look forward to your embellishments as always. I've done similar ones using black, gold, orange yellow and a touch of bright green and it came out l8ke a wreath, another I did with white, black and metallic bronze, gold, rose gold and it looks like autumn leaves, I did both of these on aprox 7 inch square canvas to canvas...shame to waste the paint. They all came out slightly different. Look forward to more..maybe abstract instead of looking for something particular..then we get more embellishments from you ha ha..keep them coming and than you🥰🙏⚘ from Western Australia 🦘🦘🦘🦘

I thought it looked like birds too! Does this mean you will be embellishing it? The white negative space really focuses your eye on the birds/flower. I've seen a bearded iris with these colors except the orange was deeper almost a copper color...it was on Pinterest...gorgeous. Great experiment Chris! As usual, you did it with your special flair with a lot of negative space. I'm definitely going to have to give this a go. I've only done dips with no negative space and put the paint down in a chevron pattern. It's pretty but your way looks more artistic. Can wait to see what you do next with this technique. A little tip...if you put a light base coat on the canvas then you don't have to put so much paint down to dip in and you won't have to worry about and blank spots. 😊🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦
