    I appreciate you share the knowledge and your work experience with other people and inspire us to perform a paint bike lifting. Your videos bring a lot of exciting ideas, which can be used as a reference. You show that the good painting job can be also done without using a professional equipment. Thx a lot and liebe Grüße aus Brandenburg :)

    FOR THE NEXT VIDEO! First, thanks for the tips! I finally learned what was causing me different problems on the last diy paint jobs I did. I was clueless and thought I was doing everything right but kept getting the same results. My request is tips for gradients made with sprays, specially on sanding them before the transparent layer. Thanks again!

    Hi Martin! I love to see your videos. thanks for sharing tips and please answer my can-not-sleep-when-to-think question: Is there a ways to make a smooth surface finish when matt finish and gloss finish meet?
    Thanks for your time Martin!

    Hi Martin! Thanks a lot for your inspiring videos!
    I have started my own DIY project and painted a carbon gravel bike frame and followed - as good as I could - your great advise. Although not everything ran as smoothly as you are describing it (practise, practise, practise... :-) ), I am quite happy with the result so far.
    My question for your next Q&A:
    I have purchased some vinyl decals and painted in the negative process by painting the desired decal color first, covered it by the self adhesive decals and painted the base color (acrylic Montana gold) over it. The problem now is, that there is still adhesive from the decals on the frame, the surface is still sticky. I first did not realise and gently sanded the edges, but this now causes the acryl particles from the base color to stick and it does not look nice. How can I remove the adhesive??? I have already tried some of the standard chemicals, but nothing really works (except Aceton, which destoys also the colors) - so I am stuck ...
    Best
    Martin

    Your videos are super useful, as there's not many people that are bridging the pro and hobbyist areas, thank you for that. My question:
    On a steel frame, how would you repair damaged areas of paint without redoing the whole frame, in a DIY way? Am I correct to assuming you need brush-on primer and colors, like those available for modelmakers, before touching up the clearcoat? Would hardware store paint work for the brush-on color, given the availability and accuracy of automatic paint mixing machines at large ones?

    HI Martin, Thank you so much for all you do providing videos like this one and all the others. What type of machine/"printer" do you use to create the stencils/logos that allows you to mask your bikes?

    Hi Martin, I love your channel and it has inspired me to paint my old frame.
    My question is: How can I use a crackled paint to do a fading effect from black to red but still have the solid black on the far end? Thanks a lot!

    • @ETOE
      @ETOE  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just paint the black after the crackle or before the crackle if the crackle is black.

    • @69sound81
      @69sound81 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ETOE thanks, I went with fading without the crackle and it went smooth and perfect except for a run in my clearcoat, but I already left a comment on how I fixed it without waiting for it to dry, sanding or scraping. I hope it is usefull

    I'm educated car painter, but never work as painter because life give me other work and interest to painting was gone after years. Now I watched lot of your videos and I start interest again painting; not so mutch that I change my job, but I think I can try paint my bike myself and maybe friends bikes. I just buy spray gun (made by Sagola) and start practice.

    Simple answer to paint your bike helmet would be to use Createx Auto-Air paints, they are perfect for projects like that. They also have lots of videos to help you learn how to use their paints and can be clear coated with a 2K clear.

    Hey Martin. I have a PRO Tip here for you and your subscribers.
    Just applied my clearcoat on my bike and gor a Run on the 2nd coat.
    My clear coat asks for 10 to 15 minutes between coats and I was giving it 15 to 20 because it is late in the night (a bit cold for my taste). So as soon as I saw the run i stopped and let it sit for 5 minutes. The run was a straightish line, no drips, and barely there. So I gave it 5 min and sprayed a bit ofer it (a light pass, barely wet) and did it 3 times with 5 to 7 minutes in between each pass. It blurred the run so well that now I can only notice it because I know it was there.
    Please tell me ehat you think about it and if you have a better solution so we dont trash a whole paintjob for such a thing

    Hi Martin, super Videos auf deinem Kanal. Ich hätte da zwei Fragen an dich:
    1. Ist es möglich auf einem Pulverbeschichteten Rahmen noch Details oder Decals zu lackieren?
    2. Machst du auch Pinstripes bzw. mich würde interessieren wie du solch Details am besten auf einen Rahmen bringst. Zum Beispiel die Kanten von Muffen an gemufften Rahmen mit einem Pinselstrich hervorzuheben.
    Gruß Rick

    Thank you Martin for creating these awesome videos that inspire us to paint our own bikes and gear - my question is: Is it necessary to sand between each coat that is applied or only between the 3 main layers of first primer, then base color and finally clear coat?

    Hi Martin I'm in the process of painting a bike. I watched your video from the 8th of NOV 2020 in which you painted the 3 tubes. I am trying to go with your pro version and doing 3 gloss coats, mask up the logo's then a final thin Matte coat. I noticed in your video that you actually sanded the tube with the mask already in place. Doesn't this mess up the edges of the mask? I would have thought even 1200 grit would cause some damage. Alternatively do you place the mask, sand in prep for the final Matte coat, remove the scuffed mask and replace with new mask then paint?
    Cheers mate, great channel and very inspiring, cheers Scott.

    Thanks Martin, i love your channel and appreciate all the tips you give. I have a sanding question, primarily about when you Sand. From your videos, it seems like you always sand after primer (before base color), and between coats of 2k clear. What about between coats of color? And how long will you let the primer, color and clear coats dry before sanding? Thanks Again

    Hi martin firstly you make great videos and i love your energetic approach to everything you do!.. now for my question, i have tried your wet paint trick where you do 3 layers of primer and colour with 10min in-between coats, the colour i have is matt green and i have left it to cure for a weekend. now should i sand it down before i do the clear coat or would it still stick without sanding? (Because matt paint seems to look terrible after sanding) Hope you can help and keep up the great work!

    Hi Martin, I´m a huge fan of your videos you inspired me to paint my first Frame. I would like to paint my bike in a deep candy purple. Is this possible with cans, cause i dont have any equipment at all? The thing which i find is to figure out how to get a can with a lot of thinner and a low amount of the chosen color, so you can see the silver though the actual color. Greetings

    Hello Martin, I'm still looking for an answer to the question of what exactly to choose underlay so that it adheres well to the carbon frame and that the 1k base adheres well to the undercoat. I have already used a 2k epoxy primer, but when hit hard with metal, the paint sometimes chipped off. Currently, I use wet-on-wet technique, first an epoxy primer and then an acrylic primer, what do you think?

    Hi Martin! Great job with the channel! I am renewing a vintage steel frame and I want to stick the original stickers (like COLUMBUS steel etc), and then paint them with clear coat. What should I consider? What material should the stickers be made of?

    Love the videos and your humor… I have started to custom paint an old helmet (not to wear), but I am confused. I need a high fill primer to fix some scratches. Do you have a suggestion? Also, do I need to wet sand after each color (primer, color, clear coat) or what is standard? And which 2k primer should I use for the helmet or does it matter (epoxy, clear glamour, etc.)?
    Thank you! 🙃

    • @ETOE
      @ETOE  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Primer depends on the chemical ingedients of the helmet shell. You said noting about the chemical ingedients so I can not help you anyway. Yes its right the but needs a wetsand after every big poop.

    Really like your channel! Question. got my steel frame sand blasted and powder coated with silver and I don't like the result. it's too "glitter" in the sun. So, I would like to repaint it with Montana Gold "titan" or similar. What do I have to do? Do I need a primer or can I just sand it and apply the color? And in case I need primer what type of that I should use?

    Another really helpful video dude, thanks. A real quick question you may be able to answer re preparation. I have an aluminium frame that's been hard anodised. Do I need to strip back to bare metal (ouch!) or is there a primer that will bond to it?
