There was nothing but a bed and some food and nothing to do. Its had a lasting effect on him, and to some people maybe even more than he lets on.

In 7th grade someone noted that "run" had a huge dictionary entry. Even in our highly abridged student dictionary, it took up half a page in 8 point type. Naturally, our teacher started using that as the text to copy for when unruly students needed "something to do". No more writing "I will not stuff lizards into my classmates hoodie" a hundred times.
Back in elementary school when my class misbehaved, our teacher would make us write the definition of run 10 times. This brought back some of these memories.

I remember my 5th grade teacher as punishment, would make us write out the definitions of "run". In our dictionaries, it was "only" 137 entries.
