I'm glad you're still here Ben. You were the first TH-camr I found when I was considering 360 photography. Your easy-going nature and fantastic ability to communicate how to do certain things in 360 as well as your business tips is what ignited my passion for 360. I've even bought some of your excellent courses that were worth way more than I paid for them. I do appreciate your pivoting to videos about TH-cam as well so you don't need to apologize for that. Just keep on keeping on my friend!
This still goes back to when TH-cam wanted everyone to change their channel to the legal name. They pushed over and over to force you to change your channel name to your normal name, which is crazy. Now, god knows what crossed up junk they have. I have multiple channels and I have no idea why. I was the original SCSTUDIOS and I cant exactly get back there so I had to become SCSTUDIOS8 just because I was putting anything in until it allowed it. Developers these days suck. Nothing is clear and things just get more complicated and its not intuitive at all. Its layers and layers of junk and bad coding.
I subscribed to your podcast after watching this video a few weeks ago, and it's really good. I haven't found a lot of good podcasts on TH-cam or content creation in general, and it was all good stuff. If you're looking for topic ideas, I'd really love to hear something about the different ways you can use an email list as a content creator. I hear people talking about email lists all the time, but I'm not sure all the ways they can be used, apart from pitching digital products. I'm sure there's more to it than one thing, and I'd like to hear your take on them. Keep it up. I'm glad you got the channel back.
Thanks for the kind words - sure I’d be happy to make an episode on email lists! I’ll also be releasing something in 2 months time that will shed much more light on the business side of things - stay tuned to my emails for more 😀
I'm so glad you didnt end up deleting the channel permanently! That must have been so stressful, i get it. For what it's worth, i would resubscribe if i found out your channel got deleted. I've enjoyed your content for years, even if i havent commented much. Keep up the good work and be careful with those accounts! Love from Dallas, TX
Appreciate that! It would have been a challenge to find my new account though. If you haven’t joined my email list, you might want to incase of emergency - link in description 👍🏻
I’m so sorry this happened - but also so glad there was a good outcome!! Thx for all your awesome content, advice and guidance! Don’t EVER consider leaving YT!! U are a star!! 🌟
Oh my! Can only imagine the angst you felt in the moment. Not similar but, I recently deviated from my workflow and lost a who day of video capture of a motorcycling adventure. Managed to salvage some files with DiskDrill Pro at a cost of $120 (CDN). Thanks for sharing your experience so we can all learn. Merry Christmas.
Yeah, that "standard account" to "brand account" routine in TH-cam/Google is EXTREMELY CONFUSING. You have options which are absolutely unclear as to what exactly the result will be. I remember when I did the same thing ... phew ..
This has lead me to thinking about the opposite problem that I have been grappling with - adding channels. Is it best to start a second channel if you have two different, but kind of related subjects you want to post content on, so that each channel stays focussed on just one thing, or is it better to have just a single channel, but the content is not quite as focussed? Example being fine art art history and painting, and learning music. Music is still art, but different enough to be a kind of different topic.
I can't even imagine the shock and horror you must have experienced. Thank you for passing along that lesson. Hopefully, you have saved others from the same mistake.
I can't imagine how you were feeling on realisation of what you had done. Im a bit annoyed TH-cam gave you bum information and soo pleased you continued working at resolving it. Well done Ben and thanks for sharing with us. It was clearly difficult for you to talk about it. PS I've been looking a second time at 3 of your older videos today. A great help to me.
Well, I feel you. I just forgot the pincode of my phone recently and for half a day I thought that I should restore the phone to get in agan, but I will lose everything from it... it was stressful. But then I slept on it and in the morning when I was calm enough I could log in with the Pincode again. I am glad that you are here again.
Wow. Crazy dude. Glad you channel is safe. It's crazy to me, that in 2024, TH-cam doesn't have some kind of 'Regular Channel Backup Option'. Like, even if it's paid...it needs to exist and be a thing.
My Pop, when he was alive, would want to prune and "clean up" all his computers and without exception - there would be an ongoing series of early morning panic calls wondering what could be done. Unless one is spending a ton of cash to do it, mass uncluttering online is always fraught with potential disaster. User beware :(
Hi Ben, I am so happy you were able to restore your channel! Your channel is immensely valuable to people like myself who learns a ton from your videos.
I have a channel with 1 or 2 videos flagged demonetized, both video are not public; one day I received a email from TH-cam(this is the first email I received from TH-cam), stating my channel violated TOS multiple times, and terminate the TH-cam account associated with it immediately After this, I did not and will not upload any video to TH-cam
.. via TH-cam footgun. Why would TH-cam want an account with so many subscribers to become unavailable? They should do much more to prevent this unless they're putting all their eggs into creators in the top X% (where your account doesn't live). I hope others avoid this problem.
youtube needs to add a simulation mode after you apply such a feature that makes drastic changes to the channel, it should ask you 10 mins later are you sure you want to continue with the change you made, yes or no
@@BenClaremont yeah there needs to be a safety check in the form of an email and or a message that pops up and explains the severity of the actions. you should let youtube know about this suggested improvement that gives great value to the creator. imagine losing everything, my heart would drop. and youtube should also hold a copy of that channel for a week just to make sure, in that case you would have to contact them directly at one of their main offices and explain the mistake or whatever you want to call it. hope all goes well.
On my main channel (this is not it) it also shows a new TH-cam channel that was created with 0 subscribers. I was also thinking about deleting it... After what you said I'm definitely not. Thanks for the warning...
Now the question is: is anything digitally permanently and virtually erased? I'm glad you didn't get it completely erased. Now, what needs to be erased is the incredible shock amount of void you felt for those 30 minutes in the oblivion of TH-cam questioning.
You need a brand account to begin with, and within your Google account settings there’s an option under ownership to restore a deleted channel. But it’s only available for a short period after deleting it apparently.
This has lead me to the opposite problem that I have been grappling with. @ Thank you, good advice. You still living in Mascot? I spent a few months living in Coward Street with a view over the airport. I loved it. Now back in the CBD.
Holy crapola, Ben! This is probably the only video on TH-cam that covers this subject. Thank God you kept a cool head. I would have smashed something for sure.
TH-cams Fault, not yours, the dumb system simply does not explain things well enough. I feel 360 has gotten to another level, like they are selling the X4 at a Professional Camera store here coz its 8k e.t.c. finally achieved some usable professional grade applications, I actually need to upgrade my computer next its now the bottleneck.
I have a YT channel (another account) but planning to open another YT account completely separate from the previous. Do you suggest creating another gmail/google account? Or just create another YT account under old gmail/google account? Thanks.
for a moment - ( prior to seeing the video) - based on the title only - I anticipated that you are going to quit your channel -(almous hard attack) - but all ok - I'll keep wasting my - money by following your '360..' suggestions - he he -CBD neighbour
I'll try again, I guess the name Pod(.)link turned into a link and got my comment removed. I wanted to sub to your Podcast that you link in the description but it doesn't seem to have that option. Hey - so just to clarify, you’re trying to subscribe to the podcast but can’t? When you go to the pod.link there should be a link to the podcast on all platforms, so you can choose the one that best suits you 😀
I know that sweaty heavy stomach feeling all too well. Typical near miss situation. Happy for you that you resolved it.

OMG Ben, I am so happy that you were able to restore everything!!! I truly believe that developing an email list that you own is so very important!

There's a quote from one of the early astronauts "There is no problem so bad that you can't make it worse". Glad you got it back!

It's crazy to me, that in 2024, TH-cam doesn't have some kind of 'Regular Channel Backup Option'. Like, even if it's paid...it needs to exist and be a thing.
Glad you managed to undo the damage. Must have been horrible!
One of my worst nightmares is getting my TH-cam channel DELETED.
Yep it’s not fun 🫣
Omg that would be a nightmare
Lesson: Don't do "spring cleaning" with TH-cam channels. Ever. Leave ALL of them up. Forever.
My Pop, when he was alive, would want to prune and "clean up" all his computers and without exception - there would be an ongoing series of early morning panic calls wondering what could be done.

I'm glad that you didn't loose anything.
Hi Ben,
I am so happy you were able to restore your channel! Your channel is immensely valuable to people like myself who learns a ton from your videos.
I have a channel with 1 or 2 videos flagged demonetized, both video are not public; one day I received a email from TH-cam(this is the first email I received from TH-cam), stating my channel violated TOS multiple times, and terminate the TH-cam account associated with it immediately

Agreed - they should prioritise helping active creators who bring views to their platform.
youtube needs to add a simulation mode after you apply such a feature that makes drastic changes to the channel, it should ask you 10 mins later are you sure you want to continue with the change you made, yes or no
Agreed - I mean it did actually do that, however it did not say that it would delete ALL of my accounts.
Thanks for sharing this. Go for what inspires you. Then you will inspire us.
Thanks, will do!
Just listening you tell this makes my guts clench. I’m soooo glad you found the fix.
Likewise 😀
It's crazy that Google didn't know the fix but chat gpt did.
For sure - although to be fair, both sources were misleading/unhelpful at various points.
On my main channel (this is not it) it also shows a new TH-cam channel that was created with 0 subscribers. I was also thinking about deleting it... After what you said I'm definitely not. Thanks for the warning...
Dang!! So glad you were able to restore it!😊

WOW! Luck uf us to have you back!!!!!
I need a video of this actual tutorial how to recover or restore the channel.
You need a brand account to begin with, and within your Google account settings there’s an option under ownership to restore a deleted channel. But it’s only available for a short period after deleting it apparently.
"Never fix something that isn't broken" .....Bert Lance
So why didn’t TH-cam know of this “ restore button “? Who created that button or system ? Google ? TH-cam ? Your computer ??
Google - and they should have known.
I'm also curious after you restored the channel how many times you checked if still active.
It’s still active 24 hours later - I posted this video to it
A great and courageous video, Ben. Thanks!
Thanks Peter

Hi Joh, I’d make 2 different channels as they are very different and very few people would have those same interests.
@ Thank you, good advice. You still living in Mascot? I spent a few months living in Coward Street with a view over the airport. I loved it. Now back in the CBD.
Thx for this. Your are truely a great one!
Appreciate it 🙏🏻
Holy crapola, Ben! This is probably the only video on TH-cam that covers this subject. Thank God you kept a cool head. I would have smashed something for sure.
How did you recover it? There was an undo button?
As I mentioned in the video, there was a restore button available for a very short window.
We need you buddy. You're my shortcut czar. I watched snippets of your CapCut of shortcuts video for the 4th time today [ ] A B
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it 😮

Totally up to you - there’s no harm in having 2 accounts across 2 emails 😀
That’s where you went wrong. ChatGPT talks out of its butt when it comes to TH-cam account changing.
Indeed
You are less animated than usual in this video. You are much more soothing in your speaking manner. I could listen to you read bedtime stories.
It’s hard to be animated when you’re still in a state of shock 😅
ChatGPT pranked you 😬🤣😉
It seriously did 😅
but Ben, I’m glad you picked yourself up again from this traumatizing experience! ❤️🙏🏼
I figure at some point my channel will be deleted since I don't make them any money that I am aware of. Last look, 112 subscribers.
There is no reason why you would get deleted, as most people are on TH-cam to watch, not post anyway.
@@BenClaremont Yes, I spend more time watching that uploading as well. 12 hours a day watching, only takes 15 minutes to upload every Sunday night.
@@BenClaremont I wil have to quit eventually as I cannot afford to upgrade my computer, or drones and I buy used GoPro's on Ebay. Fixed income.
