I try and explain to people how AWESOME it is to have turbo 4wd cars from the 90's... (I know this is a 80's 4wd truck and the other was 80's 4wd Olds Cutlass, but were all talking the same language here) Standing Launches, Cornering Speeds, and Burn outs / Drifts IS EVEN MORE EPIC WITH 4X4 /AWD. The TTB front suspension goes a long way in soaking up body roll and redirecting it back into the ground vs having a solid axle suspension on both ends of the truck. The weight distribution putting the majority of the weight on the TTB while the leaf sprung rear carries less than half of the weight also increases stability, with a main leaf that makes up the majority of the spring pack's spring rate(read: low leaf count; look at all of the high performance monoleafs & low count packs available for old muscle cars, both strip and road course) compared to the number of leafs in the pack. This is a lot of what makes TTBs viable for desert racing; they're known for essentially offering more inches of wheel travel per dollar/amount of labor than basically anything short of bolting on long travel leaf springs. And for having some handling characteristics that would be downright embarrassing to talk about for a road racer. But, with that said, it's much more than simply wheel travel and bump steer; but they really do control the front wheels very well, they really do offer a lot of STABILITY *WITH* those wheel travel numbers, you can turn the wheel with a lot of kinetic energy and the TTB will plant it to the ground instead of allowing it to migrate to the highest point of the vehicle via body roll like a suspended solid axle does. I've nerded out on suspension geometry and the thought process that is used to decide what compromises to make for a given suspension design for most of my life, whether it's dirt, pavement, straight line(...how many gearheads have considered how you go about designing a land speed racing suspension from scratch? Especially if you're talking thrust powered[700+MPH] and unlimited wheel driven[450+MPH]; and on salt, silt, sand, typically a dry lake bed surface), twisties, 4 wheels, as few as 1 wheel to as many as a modular[but probably unrealistic] design could handle, etc. - frankly, I think that the TTB is underrated and underutilized. Not for consumer use, but for off road performance use anyway; there have been some modern builds, both aftermarket parts thrown at modified stock components, and fully fabricated from scratch, that have really emphasized how durable and flexible/adaptable the design is. Anyway, I've rambled enough, but the TTB front suspension really is suited for controlling body roll even with a higher center of gravity like this

I looked it up and talked to one of the guys that helped designed the engine and it is just called a Ford 400. The 351M was based on the 400 block with a destroked crank. He also said that the "M" does not mean anything. It's just a way to tell it from a "C" or a "W" motor. I thought this was very interesting as I grew up thinking it was called a Modified.
400M/351M are not a big block. They are a tall-deck variant of the 351C small-block. Just like the 351 Windsor is the tall-deck version of the 302 Windsor
