Haven’t cared a bit for the State Fair of Texas or Fair Park after destroying the Comet (old classic coaster), due to “insurance costs.”
Around $1.5 M would have had it in great, insurable shape. Once the midway space that held the once-biggest wooden coaster in the state was cleared, the fair soon after spent more than $30M (if I’m correct) to add PARKING SPACE. Parking at the fair can be a nightmare, and additional parking was needed. But, to destroying a landmark like the Comet, with such disregard, when funds were clearly available for renovations ? To make matters more sickening, the new lot was not feasible for some reason, and it is either not being utilized or was destroyed (like the Comet).
