bro i use same method with jdk 20 and after that when i run java --version it gives me this error Unrecognized option: --version Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine. Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.

I've had this issue where it can't read the document when you are doing the javac part. Here is the fix that I found worked: Go to Control Panel by searching for it in the start menu. Go to Appearance and Personalization Go to Folder/File Explorer Options Click View In advanced settings, go to Hide extensions for known file types Uncheck that Go back to the text document and remove the .txt so its only .java. Hope this helps!!❤

at first it didn't work because i forgot to close the java installation(the one with the next step button & close java) after closing it actually worked in the command prompt, i got scared for a second there. anyways, thanks man!!! really appreciate you doing this you helped a lot of people like me!!

Followed step by step but receiving 'error: file not found: HelloWorld.java' when trying to create the class. Any ideas? ETA - Figured out I had hidden extensions. Once I disabled that setting, I was able to update the file extension to .java and everything worked as expected.
