Sounds legit. The plan is simple, sound and probably what many top programs currently do. I'd say with a healthy dose of patience and #pikiell mentally "staying the course" the success will come. These guys give no craps about the nay sayers, they been giving everything they got every single week for years now. Go Knights!

I mean, I don't think Rutgers can ever compete with UM or OSU in the big ten but I do think (if this plan comes to fruition and judging based on Schiano's first stint) Rutgers can get to a level that competes with everyone else. Prior to entering the Big ten, this was a program that had been bowling for 8 years straight, and had multiple 9 and 10 win seasons. Like Rutgers should be able to compete with MSU, with Wisconsin or Iowa, and in their really good years with maybe PSU. The idea that this is impossible is so ignorant and uniformed. Ultimately winning and proving it on the field is the only way to change the narrative. I will also add that the climb for basketball was so much wider than football. I mean basketball was the worst power 5 program in the country. and now they have been .500 or better in the last 4 seasons in the big ten play, and on the cusp of getting the #2 ranked recruiting class in the country. If Basketball was able to right the ship (granted it took about 4 years time) then football can.

Basketball is much easier to build since you only need a few stud players to turn a program around. As far as football, I’ve heard this song and dance for years. He talks like he’s Vince Lombardi but never produces when it counts. I love RU, but we’ve given this guy every break only because of those few great years back in the day. Look at his career record. And teams like Illinois and Maryland have had very respectable years and certainly don’t have the NJ HS football talent pool that we do.

It's never going to happen. Just make them a good top 15-20 program consistently.

I’d be happy to be a top 25 team once every 4 years
