    Another master class that needs to be practised to be proficient. I have done it three times now and finally got my head around it! It amazes me how just one mistake sends me scrambling back to the video to see what I've done wrong. Tony Kuper's panel is just awesome! I look forward to Friday's new lesson and the practice images.😀

    Yet another great tutorial and one that reinforces techniques learned last week and a couple of new. A great way of controlling light. By the way, you did say last week that if enough followers request it, you would produce a tutorial on creating a 'Before & After' add into the Panel. Given that I use a Wacom Tablet it would also be nice to have a 'Save' button! - this would save me going to the keyboard. Really look forward to Fridays' - now going to work through the lesson. Dave, when do you save selections and when not? The easy answer is when we want to use a selection again, or it's a complicated selection, but it seems like there's more to it than that? Also thanks for slowing down a bit. TH-cam lacks a 10-second rewind, and the left arrow key is often too much or too little. Today's techniques are very helpful!

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say when you feel you might need it again or if you know you will need a selection or selections you can save the selections early in the edit and then just pull them up when you are ready for them.

    Dave, Thanks for the videos! I wonder if you'd consider a dual process tutorial? I often exposure blend (with the same file if possible). I like to make a Luminosity mask and pull a part of the image through the mask. Lumenzia allows me to deselect and then select another part of the image, with a lights or darks mask, and pull it through on the same mask. I can't figure out how to do this with the TK panel. (Everything I've tried erases the first phase of the mask that I made.) Ultimately, I can sense that the TK panel is going to be more versatile and want to transition to it, but the curve for me is a bit steeper that Lumenzia. Hope my question is clear enough. Thanks!

    Hi Tony, I am on a mission to learn Photoshop and the TK8 panel and your videos are the best. Cant say enough.... I have a question on this video, in the last step when you use frequency seperation to adjust the bright red spot on the rock you did not create a mask. I have tried several options best was hue/saturation and desat the rock. How do you create a mask they use the frequency tool??? thanks again for all your efforts. Pat

    Great tutorial Dave, I really enjoy these! I've got an unrelated question regarding the circle showing where your cursor is for video. Is this a separate piece of software, or can it be done in Photoshop? My eyes are getting pretty bad, and I constantly lose sight of my brush when painting.

    Thanks for introducing me to the joys of the tK8 plugins. On the TK website they talk about the use of Linear profiles as a starting point for editing. What is your opinion and is it possible when importing images via Lightroom to apply the appropriate linear profile at the time of import please?

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love the Linear Profiles. I will have a full edit video coming out Friday that starts in LR using a Linear Profile and then moves into Photoshop and the TK8 panel.

    Dave, I'm going on memory but it seems like you only change one tone (or one color) when using the color grading tool, for example mid-tones only. If you need to also make a change to highlights, you make another CG tool for that. Do you always use a separate CG tool for each tone you want to change or would you ever make two or even three tonal adjustments using one CG layer. If you needed a separate mask for different things then I understand using separate CG layers but would you ever make global adjustments to multiple tones using the same CG tool?

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are times when I find two or three color tones are needed all within the same Color Grading tool.
