  • Septic systems are a common method of waste treatment that are implemented in millions of homes across the United States alone. But how do they work?

    I have an older septic system that does NOT have a baffle between the the sides. It is all round. It also has a vent stack and my drain field area is all sand.

    I had a septic system that had been oversized to house and used it for 27 years before leaving the house. Not once were there any issues with the system, nor was the tank ever pumped. We did use bacteria producing products and yeast we flushed down the toilets monthly to bolster a healthy bacteria count in the septic tank. This bacteria liquefied the solids in the system. No problems ever with the drain field either.

      @@beatrix2745 packs of bread making yeast in the grocery store. Box of Riddex you get in stores, Walmart, Lowes, Hardware Store. Every other month or so, we'd flush one or the other down. I had a plumber tell me the yeast was just as good as the Riddex.

      @@beatrix2745 the yeast is dormant in packs. You open and pour into the toilet and then flush, the bacteria activates and consumes the waste in the septic tank. The ridex does the same thing. It has dormant bacteria in product that activates when you flush it down into the system.

      27 years is a long time. I recommend every 3 years. The bottom slide layer will build up and get so high it'll go into the drain field. Damaging it. Just because the top is fine doesn't mean it doesn't need to be pumped

    Im a plumbing apprentice and unfortunately for me i had the displeasure of climbing inside of one of these and stepping in that sludge and scraping the walls to put a layer of grout except we call this a grease interceptor. Very informative also by far the most filthy and disgusting ive ever felt in my entire life.

  • @anasqai
    @anasqai ปีที่แล้ว

    This is nice, if making fertilizer just like teabag at the system so the water mixed, maybe the plan is a fertilizer-watering system? Because a clean water cant be dirty anyway? So 1 of the partition is to add fertilizer. Distillation tank to clean water then it enter here(the fertilizer mixture) should be then correct? Or it is immediately from sea? If sea, then before entering this, make a distillation tank for a 100% clean water is nicer.

    • @anasqai
      @anasqai ปีที่แล้ว

      But if immediately from sea, cant be the house is seawater? It will be sticky. Maybe it is someone else's idea? If from sea can just sponge filter and if about oil(can just take from lower level of sea).

    Can installing a reverse osmosis water cooler cause the septic tank to overflow? Since it releases the bad water into the septic tank?

    • @ArchanDelon12
      @ArchanDelon12 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not unless your tank is filled with solids and needs to be drained. Everything that goes down the drain goes into your sewer pipe and ends up in the septic tank. This includes you doing the dishes, showers, sinks, tubs, washing machine etc. Water should naturally move out into the leech field unless the tank is full of solids, clogged, or the leech field is backed up. Adding more water down the drain from a water cooler isn't going to do anything bad.

    • @ArchanDelon12
      @ArchanDelon12 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's how it works with a sewer system as well. All the drain pipes in your home are empty unless you are dumping something down the drain or flushing the toilet. The pipes get filled with air and sewer gasses. The P-trap on all your drains prevents sewer gases (or septic) gases from entering the home. Every drain pipe in your house should be connected to a series of vent pipes that exit the roof of your home through what is common called the "vent stack" where all the air and gases can escape the next time you use the drain. Without ventilation there would be nowhere for the air and gasses to go and your plumbing would slow down and eventually get backed up.
