Baby Makongo has connected silverback Lomako to this family because he is still too young. Lomako needs to learn a lot from Dalila before he can truly take control of the troop.

It is amazing how they are all so gentle with him in spite of their young age! Not always the case in some troups. They would never hurt the baby on purpose, but are much more rambunctious with them, not realizing their own strength.🥰

I think he shows more interest in nala because she waits for him to initiate the interaction and nala’s sister did not have the same patience. She grabbed him up and took off before he was ready for anything like that so her presence makes him a little more nervous. Same with why Dailia seems to trust Nala more. In my unprofessional opinion, nala will be the one next in line to help care for and teach him things, along with her brother. Sorry I’m still trying to learn their names
@ I wouldn’t be surprised if the other troop members make sure Zola knows her place when it comes to showing Dalia more respect. I’ve noticed Zola will swat at Dalia when she turns her back because she wants to be able to do whatever she wants to do. Just like human teenagers do. At first I assumed Nala was older because she seems more mature but then I read the description of the video and saw that Zola was a year older. They are all going through some serious changes though and I think with a little more time and healing from the loss they will all figure it out. Thank you for replying back to all my comments. I don't think Zola wants to hurt Baby Makongo it's just that her social skills leaves something to be desired. She's pretty alpha female if you ask me. This situation kind of reminds me of Sumomo. Her whole family took care of her when she was a baby and today at almost 3 years old she is an independent little spitfire. Baby Makongo is learning alot from his adventures with his family members and pretty soon he will not look or feel so afraid.

Looks to me like the baby WAS scared, and it seems to be a real tell how the little monkeys keep jumping on the male’s back-like they can tell something here isn’t as it should be and they’re disturbed by it. And I with the zoo keepers would be more attentive in watching Zola. Call it instinct, but she doesn’t seem to be up to any good…
When Zola took Baby from Nala's arms, Baby seemed a bit unwilling, but he couldn't say no. Zola has that kind of personality; she wants to have Baby all to herself and doesn't like to share.
Dalila is not the best protector to many times Makongo is just to easily taken from her😢 I know she loves him and she’s doing her best, I just feel so bad for the little guy.

Too many handlers. Mother gorillas are typically very protective of their babies. Mosi has to pull very hard to rescue Mokongo from these two nuts. Not good for the babie's arm. Dalia is afraid of the girls so she fails to protect Mokongo. I saw one of them raise her hand to her because she didn't want to give up Mokongo. I worry about this baby.
The young ones in the troop all love Makongo and wouldn’t harm him. Of course, when they compete over Baby, you can see that he isn’t happy, but he’s still too young to say no. Zola can only take Baby when he’s in Nala’s hands, as Dalila doesn’t trust her. So, she has to get him from Nala.

Eu concordo que Makongo deve ficar com Dalila, ele se sente seguro, ele gosta de Nala perto, de tocar na irmã, concordo tambem em não deixar Zola pegar o bebê, eu fico nervosa, vejo Makongo assustado, ele so quer ficar com a mãe Dalila e a irmã Nala do lado, lamento que Lomako não está perto de Makongo, ele ficou muito ansioso quando Makongo estava sozinho, ele metece ficar perto do filho. Não consigo não falar sobre Mosi e Loango, ja que esse assunto me revolta e dói, ninguém explicou porque castrar dois gorilas que fazem parte de uma espécie criticamente ameaçada de extinção, é perverso, uma vergonha, tenho medo que resolvam castrar Makongo.

Looks to me like the baby WAS scared, and it seems to be a real tell how the little monkeys keep jumping on the male’s back-like they can tell something here isn’t as it should be and they’re disturbed by it. And I with the zoo keepers would be more attentive in watching Zola. Call it instinct, but she doesn’t seem to be up to any good…
When Zola took Baby from Nala's arms, Baby seemed a bit unwilling, but he couldn't say no. Zola has that kind of personality; she wants to have Baby all to herself and doesn't like to share.
Dalila is not the best protector to many times Makongo is just to easily taken from her😢 I know she loves him and she’s doing her best, I just feel so bad for the little guy.
Dalila is already 52 years old, and she has done her best within her abilities.

Too many handlers. Mother gorillas are typically very protective of their babies. Mosi has to pull very hard to rescue Mokongo from these two nuts. Not good for the babie's arm. Dalia is afraid of the girls so she fails to protect Mokongo. I saw one of them raise her hand to her because she didn't want to give up Mokongo. I worry about this baby.
The young ones in the troop all love Makongo and wouldn’t harm him. Of course, when they compete over Baby, you can see that he isn’t happy, but he’s still too young to say no. Zola can only take Baby when he’s in Nala’s hands, as Dalila doesn’t trust her. So, she has to get him from Nala.
