      @@SagasuRunning I just went to an Adidas store and found out the Rise (and Solution) had arrived yesterday!🥳 The fit is definitely not like the Adizero line. I went down half a size to a US 10 on the Adios Pro 3, but for the Rise I need a US 11 or probably a 11.5, otherwise my big toe hits the front of the shoe. It feels as plush as my Triumph 20, but I couldn't take them out for a test run. I'll see if I can hold out a little longer for the release (and reviews) of the Peg 41 and SL 2 (about to check your review on the Speed 4 too). Hope you're staying safe!

    WOW! EXCITED THAT I'VE BEEN SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING THIS, TO REPLACE MY ZOOMX NIKE STREAKFLY ( I KNOW, TOTALLY UNRELATED SHOES) WHICH I DECIDED TO BUY UPON WATCHING YOUR REVIEW. I HAVE THOROUGHLY AND TRULY ENJOYED AND LOVED THE NIKE STREAKFLY (LOOKS GREAT, FITS BEAUTIFULLY, COMFORT AND GREATEST SURPRISE, BEEN AMAZINGLY DURABLE, 170 PLUS MILES (IAM A FOREFOOT STRIKER) FOR A RACEDAY SHOE WHICH I TRAINED IN TOO, I COULD GO ON & ON. ITS EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS) THE ADIDAS SUPERNOVA RISE IS BECAUSE IAM LOOKING TO LONGER DISTANCES AND A DAILY TRAINER, INCREASED DURABILITY. THANKS I'LL PROCEED WITH THE RISE BASED ON YOUR ADVICE ONCE AGAIN.

      Think of the Rise as a trainer version of the Streakfly. It’s much more built up and durable but still flexible, for a trainer, and will give similar benefits of good foot flex and training stimulus…

    The way you describe the shoe reminds me the Vomero 16 which was my primary daily shoe. I only had two shoes in my rotation back then. Vomero 16 and one fast shoe (Takumi Sen). If I was doing the same sort of relaxed runs I would consider getting this shoe but I think my Boston 12 covers everything I need from a daily trainer perspective.
    I just checked official adidas online shop and it's seems Supernova Rise has really great ratings compared to other non-adios running shoes. They are selling 4 different colourways and most of them already sold out.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’d say the Vomero is the closest shoe to the Rise in use case, but the Rise is a much better shoe.
      The B12, while great, is plated and far too aggressive and stiff for daily use for me… but it is a shoe I do love as a companion to the Rise.
      Good to know they are doing well in your country. They are popular here in Taiwan, at the moment, but it’s still all the launch promo stuff everywhere.

    Thank you for your in-depth review, really enjoyed your vids so far. I'm a beginner runner (10k @ 6:30/km) and currently own 2 pairs of non-plated trainers (Peg 40 for daily and NB Rebel v3 for speed work). Do you think which plated trainer should I get to cover a wider variety of trainings and also use for future races (if really needed)? I'm interested in the Boston 12/Takumi Sen but not sure if I really need it at this stage of training.
    Btw I hope that you can have a vid on the Adizero SL and compare it with Peg/Supernova Rise in the future :D

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Between the two shoes you mentioned, the Boston 12 is the one I’d recommend. It’s a shoe that will get you up to speed with a plated shoe but it will work well for training and is a great first racer. However, there should be a Boston 13 coming soon (?)… and I have seen no leaks as to what changes in it as of yet.

  • @marcusszavaleta

    I’m a big fan of lots of foam, but lately i think there’s a time and purpose for a shoe ( like u said for the CF plated shoes) these shoes def seem to help strengthen my feet, and helps overall to really appreciate the racing shoes we have now

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That they will, but in subtle ways. These are a great training option for building foot strength with having to go to a full minimalist shoe or racing flat. I will be curious, later in the year, how these pair with the Adios 9 as well for foot and leg strength building.

  • @Andre-wm2ir
    @Andre-wm2ir 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hey Chris as always very informative and interesting content, love it! I think you touch on a very important point here, namely that the shoe is flexible not only non-plated. I think (and this is only anecdotal) that if you race in a plated and rigid shoe , that alone is not bad but you should offset it with a flexible shoe in training [at least to some extent] to give your feet more stimulus. I see a lot of comments of people wanting to train in a non-plated trainer but even these can be quite rigid. So I think this is a good addition and I agree with you that it is surprising that this comes from adidas. Since we are talking about adidas and rigidity, I read that the takumi sen 10 is way stiffer than version 9 and 8. Will you be covering the 10?
    Thanks again for this video, I look forward to the next one.

      I can confirm that the Takumi 10 is stiffer than the 9. Not by much that it changes the ride character of the Takumi line but definitely noticeable. I have tested both on a treadmill one after the other. Toe box and upper fit felt better on the 10 but the 9 was a smoother ride.

    Had noticed this one but kind of have overlooked it as a potential try out largely as nobody seemed that excited about it. On the plus side I can see it in my size UK 13.5 but in just one of the 5 colourways available on adidas UK. Better than ASICS at least :) Maybe one to see if can find any of the 35% discount codes for adidas have used for odd shoes in the past. Historically I went from the Boston 6 to a Supernova 8 (Boost shoe) for a year or so circa 2016. They then discontinued that brand name for a while but now seem hot on it again.

    Great review, as always, Chris. My only concern about adding the Rise to a rotation that includes the Boston 12 for workout days and the Pro 3 for race day is that now your rotation is entirely energy-rodded, and with essentially the same LS Pro midsole. I'm trying to limit plates/rods to race day and not training days so that I do the work and not the shoes, if that makes sense. Thanks, Chris.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Dreamstrike+ is an entirely different foam and the support rods are a standard EVA. Not rigid like the energy rods. Totally different stimulus for your foot. If anything it’s the needed addition that Adidas was missing that is not Lightstrike Pro or Lightstrike 2.0.

    This seems like a perfect occasional workout shoe when you want the same recovery but don't want the rocker, plate, etc. I have used the MoreV4 to accomplish this same task of when I want to actually really put some work in on muscles that aren't used when running in racing shoes but the problem is that then my recovery is bad because there is no Peba. While that might be too niche of a purpose for me personally, if I had unlimited money, I would definitely use it for track workouts when I don't want to spike up, wear a racing flat, or a marathon shoe but still want good recovery that only Peba can offer.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is more of an easy trainer than something for workouts. It will do them but there are better options if you want PEBA for that (Nike Streakfly)… but as a daily trainer than can do many things… it’s excellent.

  • @Boulevardfree
    @Boulevardfree 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    "Someone would eventually make it." Topo Cyclone 2 did it long before, just not with as much of a forefoot rocker. But there you have and had a PEBAX, low stack, daily trainer with good ground feel and nimble mechanics overall.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      But I’m not a fan of “wide” natural toe boxes (spent to long with them and barefoot shoes) and Topo athletic are nearly impossible to get here in Taiwan.
      So Adidas gets massive credit here still in my book. Especially given their size and reach.
      Additionally, Nike did it longer back with the original Streakfly. You could also count the Turbo in there too… so Topo also isn’t the first.

    I have actually tried this model on a treadmill, the only thing that prevented me from pulling the trigger on this shoe is that I know Adidas is going to to be releasing the Supernova Prima(6mm drop) later this year.

Go with Supernova Rise if you want to also use it for walking,. Boston 12 might have a slight edge on longer and slightly faster running workouts, especially if you want to combine it with a plated shoe in an upcoming race day.

    How is toebox and midfoot width? They do make a wide, though idk if it's actually any wider in the base or just more upper volume only. Also would it be possible to add the width of the shoe measurements in your reviews like you have done with some other shoes where you made comparisons to different brands in the same class, it helps us wide foot people make a lot more informed choice and I have never seen anyone provide that information other than you! I would greatly appreciate that, and I have with the videos where it is included!

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For an Adidas shoe, I'd call the fit "generous" and the upper very accommodating. However, Adidas shoes are all still on the narrow side. So if you normally wear a wide in other brands, you likely need one here.
      The last in this shoe is fairly straight and there is a large contact patch on this shoe, especially in the midfoot.
      Forefoot: 11.3cm, Midfoot: 7.4cm, Heel: 8.6cm
      Lastly, this is a low stack shoe with a softer and VERY flexible foam. It's my ideal shoe but if you like alot of foam underfoot, this is very much not a max stack shoe.
      I'll do a deeper "vs" comparison of the Supernova Rise when the Adizero SL 2 is out.

They seem to be putting a lot of emphasis on the Supernova line now and I know they want to prune some older shoes from the line. It should be clear this year what they are going to do here.

    Is the heel noticeable as a forefoot striker with the 10mm drop? I'm also a fan of the Streakflly and I think it's 6mm drop helps with the natural feeling of that shoe. Tempted to try the Rise but also keen to see how the SL2 turns out!

      It doesn’t bother me nor do I notice it in any bad way. It’s similar to the Pegasus or Vomero…it’s just there and walking is comfortable in it.
      I’m curious about the SL 2 as well and can’t wait. I’m wondering how these two shoes will overlap, though the SL 2 should be the more focused and capable trainer.

      @@SagasuRunning Ended up ordering a pair of the Supernova Rise and they arrived in the post today. I don't want to get too excited but jogging around the house this afternoon I feel they could be exactly the daily trainer I'm after. As you said in your video, excellent lockdown, comfortable upper with good volume for daily training, great midsole (soft enough for daily miles but not too soft such that there isn't any responsiveness), flexible and full rubber. What more could you want! Adidas has done such a great job modernising a 'traditional' daily trainer. Like you, I love that it's only 24mm in the forefoot. I think a lot of brands are missing a trick by not producing something to the Supernova Rise.

    I don’t get, Adidas also release Duramo line. How does it compare? Also, my first daily runner is Adidas’ Supernova plus and I’ve just received my Boston 12 as my new daily runner and trainer for my first half marathon, should I buy Adios Pro 3 or Takumi Sen 10 for my race day shoe?

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Duramo is a budget trainer, not the same level as the Supernovas or the Adizero lines. The B12 is a great training shoe put I'd add a non plated trainer, like the Rise, to pair with it for training. Training 100% of the time in plated shoes is not a great idea.
      For your race shoe...100% the Adios Pro 3, if you want to stay with Adidas. However, if it's your first half marathon and you find the B12 comfortable...you can definitely race in that too.

    Had the chance to have a look at this shoe and I can say the toe box is super stiff / super hard! Not sure if it would affect my foot.
    I have a New Balance with a hard toe box and it hurts my foot a lot, just around less than a mile during a run.
    But this Adidas Supernova is like 2x the hardness of the toe box.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The toe bumper in this shoe is firm, but it lifts the material off of the tops of the toes and forefoot giving a nice volume to that area. I've not run into any issues with toe rub or pain. I find it quite nice actually as I dislike shoes where the top of the toe box lays on the toes or presses down on them.

    Your review gives me more confidence than some others I have seen, but what gave me hesitation on this shoe was the Peba. I worry it's just marketing. An an example, the New Balance Rebel V4 is a trining shoe with a Peba blend, but it's 20% Peba and 80% basic EVA.... so makes me feel like they just wanted to be able to say Peba. I haven't run in any iteration of the Rebel, but logically speaking, the previous version being TPU makes and then going to that 80/20 blend feels almost like a downgrade. BUT -- PEBA.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As far as I know Dreamstike+ is a PEBA foam, not a blend with something else. Also, from wearing the Rebel b4 now… the foam in the Rise is light years better. The foam in the Rebel v4 is not good (more on this in a few weeks).
      The Rise and the Rebel are not in the same class but I’d take the Rise over it any day of the week for any type of run…
