The modern trend of cops carrying folding knives on lbr's is just concerning. If it's drawn in a scuffle the officer won't feel it having been removed. There must already be recorded incidents of officers knives being pulled against them. An old school kydex or leather covered pouch should be mandatory.
Knife nerd here get a spyderco with a compression lock or a cold steel with a back lock. Both will almost never fail on you. Spydercos vg10 is second to none.

Some cops wear critical items on their vest such as extra mags and tourniquets as if they're not going to need those items as they're getting destroyed as they're getting shot in the vest

I don't know about the police in America but in the military you most times get issued one, but a lot of people replace it with something they bought themselves because the knife Set they give you aren't the best ones (sometimes you are lucky and get something like a benchmade but most times knives like this will go to special units and not to the normal guys)

I’d imagine it mostly cuts snack packages and tape as that’s what I find most people use their knives for.

As a knife nerd, Kershaw is a knife brand they’re quite prominent in the balisong community too as they had a big hit with the kershaw lucha
