Verdi is my favourite opera composer, I think, and La Traviata is the favourite. The worker's choruses are incredible.
I'm enjoying your reactions but have only started with your opera reactions.
Now my dream is for you to get to visit Italy to see opera sung in an opera house there. I spent Christmas 2019 in Sicily and gave myself the gift of my first-ever opera performance for Christmas and I got to sit in a box. It was amazing.
Get yourself a vision board and pin up a beautiful photo of one of Italy's opera houses and start dreaming of the day when you can grab a slice of pizza and wine, wander through town, and spend a night at the opera somewhere in Italy. You would be a forever-changed man. And you can get there one day! I believe it. Set the dream, baby.
Brindisi is "the drinking song" at the opening of Verdi's La Traviata. They're at a party and everyone is drinking a toast. He toasts her, she responds, and the crowd joins in. You should see the whole opera. It's a favorite introduction to opera. There are a couple of complete versions of the opera with English subtitles (so you know what they're singing about) on TH-cam. Enjoy!
Libiamo is the title of the aria and Brindisi is th town where they sang. Or Brindisi is the title in fact, but I prefer libiamo : let's drink.
You know there's a movie, right? Franco Zieffereli ... it's beautiful...the sets the costumes...amazing.
Also, this party is tking place in a brothel, well, with ''courtisannes''
As long as Italy exists, they will NEVER take this music away!
You know, buddy, your focused, pure emotion while listening to this, looks a lot like how opera singers look when they're fully invested in the emotions of the music they're creating.
Im agree 👍
#Truth
I believe the conductor is Nagano, he was conductor here in Montréal for a few years and on the orchestra's opening nights, first concerts of the season, there was always a giant screen on the plaza so people outide could watch live the concert. For the 100the anniversary of the Canadiens (or city's hockey team) he also had a special concert at the forum and he came on stage wearing the team's jersyey. He's a pretty cool guy.
Teach the Youth, Brother! Show them that there is more to the world than just The Hood!
"Singing to your spirit" - EXACTLY RIGHT!! Thank you for sharing your reactions with us. Classic music, opera MUST STAY relevant.
Classical music by it's nature will always be relevant. Timeless.
Nice seeing Pavorati bring a smile to your face!!! Such beautiful voices.☮💜
Esatto, per sarà sempre il migliore pav
Exactly! You don't have to know the language they're singing, because the language of music speaks to all :D
I'm from Italy and I'm so happy you reacted to this talent. Pavarotti will remain immortal in opera
"You don't have to know the lyrics - my spirit feels it". Straight from the heart, thanks, JB we all love you!
No, you do NOT have to know the words! Your spirit knows. You get it.
Cecilia Bartoli. Incredible operatic soprano. Check her out please.
Oh yes, so sad her concerts got cancelled, I was sooo ready holding my ticket last june... :(
It's not Cecilia Bartoli...but great nevertheless
Was in this Opera - Carmel Valley , CA in early 80's .
Magnificent and lots of fun !
Thanks for this spectacular duet with my all time favorite vocalist (Maestro Luciano) .
Another beautiful, heartfelt, and honest reaction. Young people like you give me hope for the future. God bless you.
WOW!!! Thanks for the spectacular wake up!!!🎵🎼🎶🤟💜🥳🥳🥳🥳 Music For The Soul!! I'm loving your journey through opera!!
I've been watching Luciano Pavarotti for years. La Traviata is my favorite opera.
Just loving your heartfelt reactions to opera.....now in my mid 70's I have cried an ocean over performances without having a clue what they were singing about ! Who cares ?? If it tou
ches your soul...you are blessed !
You never heared La Traviata ......... and to think that as a child my father put us to bed and played operah music for us almost every day , it is part of my soul. James there is a mountain of music to explore. An oprah takes about 2 hours , every time I have to go for a car ride for that time i start up an opera , volume on 20 😊. Take the time and enjoy a full opera!!!!!
Maria Callas singing Bizets Carmen is amazing!
you called it beauty and how right you are. Good for you for taking the time to listen and learn. Opera is a gift for everyone willing to listen and appreciate. Good for you young man !
Just a slice of heaven sent down to make this life more bearable , thanks for the chance to re hear these
AN amazing Italian combination, Im an opera fan since very little, the lady is Nuccia Focile, a sicilian born I guess, one of the most powerful soprano voices in this era, probably the most powerful duet of this times
Pavarotti singing " Una Furtiva Lacrima" on YT. It has 6.5 million views . Greatest and most moving vocal performance I have ever heard. Thanks for these Classical Music Reactions.
Una furtiva Lagrima is my favorite from pavarotti, he should react to it
One of the most beautiful arias in Opera... it will remain with me for all my life.
there is a version on UT with english subtitles.
Oh absolutely! Get chills just remembering that song...
Yeah
Your face was beautiful JB. All music thats wonderful should make you feel this way, irrespective of the genre. You should try the music by Mozart, Marriage of Figaro, the duet they used in Shawshank Redemption. Sull'aria. I promise, knowing you and that you are a big teddy bear with a big teddy's bear's soft heart, will probably cry. Which is no bad thing.
Love you guy, you are the genuine article and a real man not afraid to admit and share his emotions and we love you for it. Locked down love (still!) from East Coast of England. x
Hopefully this it: th-cam.com/video/CQ8ZHilxdm8/w-d-xo.html
Sull'aria is incredibly beautiful, wonderful suggestion! For some reason, the version you linked plays through the piece twice. Among my own favourite renditions are th-cam.com/video/4VMGhBEocJU/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/Z5VG_pmUzTQ/w-d-xo.html.
I'd been obsessed with him for many years. There is no equal.
Verdi is the composer, La traviata the opera, brindisi that particular piece, you are a great guy JB, a true l8ver of music❤
When school budgets are cut, the first thing that goes is the arts. Thanks for showing how important it is for people to know the whole spectrum of music!
You have reached the level of the spirit For some people that never happens , you have been blessed
Wow, love seeing your reaction, your face, listening to these fantasic voices and orchestra, and I start crying with happiness! Thank you, love you!❤️
Gives you chills, right....
This Is so beautiful!
I get goosebumps at the final. Pavarotti is my choice in opera singers. He also had a keen sense of humor.
This was one of my late Mums favourite opera's when she was still with us.💜
ooo, that ending gave me chills.
I think in my life time ive never heard a stronger voice than his. Beautiful 💐💐💐💐 james really good pick 👍💕💕
I did suggest you this song. Thank you 🥰🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤❤❤
Great suggestion.
@@kentjensen4504 thank you 👌🔝
Great job!
@@scm0717 👍
Thank you for requesting!!!! I loved it
now you are one of us, the work is either loved or hated, mine was love at first sight, when I was 10 my father dressed me elegantly and took me to see the elixir love, my first work, beyond the music enter the stage of the 1700 theater in my city a show within a show
This is the real stuff. My dad would play it to me, from age 5. That’s 54 years, and as much as I love all music, this and classical is the real it, for me.
My Favorite opera
The world's greatest drinking song
It is a drinking song, and the story begins at a party in a sort of brothel with the ''courtisannes''
Love your reactions james, for being so young so much wizdomm
BRAVO BRAVO BRAVISSIMA
There's beauty in all genres of music.
This was wonderful. Thank you James for continuing to react to classical music and opera.
This is absolutely beautiful
I love how you get so into it you almost forget to pause.
Just love to see your reaction to classical performances! You have a gift.
I hope you see more operas, live this time. Your life will transformed.
Beautiful opera. Your reaction is perfect. x
I love your reactions man!! I can see the music moving through you and just the joy you have! It’s awesome 😊😊😊
Thank You so much. So beautiful.
Absolutely breathtaking
I love it too.
siamo a livelli di perfezione artistica davvero alti
Nobody is taking classical music away and classic rock. There are still hundreds of thousands around the world going to opera and classical concerts
Out of all the youtubers who do music reaction videos I think you are by miles the most genuine. It is so obvious you are actually 'feeling' every note. I had to subscribe.
I just love you...plain and simple you are moved by beautiful gifts shared with us..,we all have gifts and when we share them the effects on everyone who benefits is as strong as your reaction to this artistry...does that make sense...when we are true to the goodness we were and are born to be sharing our gift talent true passion we are connected to this universe...if everyone would realize this and betrue to their heart and souls goodness life on earth would be heavenly it would be harmony and beauty and just peace no hunger no war no greed no hate...there would be harmony...
You should download the full concert, “The 3 Tenors” Rome 1990.
AWESOME
You sir, are a truly a music lover. I love that you want the younger generation to have the opportunity to also enjoy this !
Its a joy to watch your face when you see these stars..please download the whole opera so you can understand the songs better... Keep up the good work..you a are joy to watch😍
I'm blessed to have seen alot of opera since I was about 8. My mom and had been going since 1998 at lyric opera in Chicago.
Just remember that you are listening to two singers who may be the best opera singers of all time, and these operas have been sung for about 250 years. Don't be disappointed if you hear other opera singers who are not this great.
My sweet friend, I was a music major in college and was a professional clarinetist for a number of years. You make me remember just how much I love music, before all the blood, sweat and tears made it more work than fun. I LOVE your spirit and watching the wonder and pleasure in your eyes as you discover classical music. God bless you!
My favorite of all time!!
questo è un capolavoro musicale firmato da Giuseppe Verdi
You are feeling the music of the voice.
there is a channel I watch called Wretched and he used a lovely video of yours reacting to Opera. The remarks he made were so kind to you as well they should be.
The wonderful soprano is Nuccia Focile, a world class opera star herself, and in my opinion one of the world's great beauties!
Love it, one of my favourite operas, I remember my first time hearing opera and appreciating it, I was 21 back in 76, hung over on a Sunday morning after a night of Led Zep etc, my younger sister put Carmen on the record player, Habanera played, I awoke to this beautiful music and my love affair with opera began, so lovely to see you loving this music too.
I've heard the Brindisi before, but never like this! Amazing combination of amazing voices. And the discipline to sing together, neither trying to overpower the other's voice.
And your reaction: honest, deep and true.
I don't understand what they're singing, either, but the beauty is that we don't need to: words appeal to the mind, music appeals to the soul.
I'm a 74 year old sometime opera fan, and I have to say you bring back my own youthful memories of discovering music and music history you just don't get on the local radio station....unless you're very very fortunate. I'm proud of you for exploring, and thrilled with your emotional reactions! :)
I love your reactions! You are a beautiful young man!!
Your wonderful reaction, with you moved to emotion, tells me without doubt you are a classical music lover through and through: there awaits ahead of you an ocean of wonderful music for you to enjoy. Your reaction to music makes you a lovable guy, without doubt.
I so hope you are able to go to an opera soon, it's so amazing in person, a great spectacle!
Exactly !
You're keeping it alive ... praying for you .
James, have you reacted to the Flower Duet from the opera Lakme? If not, I strongly recommend it.
I agree. th-cam.com/video/C1ZL5AxmK_A/w-d-xo.html
@@robynsmith3040 oh yes. And this version is by far my favorite. Not only showing that the people creating this sublime music are so normal but it also celebrates the orchestra as well.
I wish he would. Let's celebrate some of the magnificent ladies of opera too!
Love that one
Wonderful Music!!!
The ultimate party song.
Bless you, sir...
It's such an utter joy to see you react to classical music!
This is one of my favorite performances of his and she helps take this performance to another level! I love that you reviewed this one too. I feel like this one is slept on for some reason.
What you say is so true. It is a joy to watch you!
Love your enthusiasm!! To be honest I've never been drawn to opera, but seeing your genuine appreciation for it makes me want to give it more of a chance!
I believe the conductor is Nagano, he was conductor here in Montréal and on every opening nights of the season, the orchestra's first concert of the season, there was always a giant screen on the plaza so people outside could watch the concert live. Also on the 100th anniversay of the Canadien, our city's hockey team, he did a special concert at the forum and he came on stage wearing the team's jersey. He also commissioned a special piece for a Québec hero, général Dallaire, to honour him. Dallaire was a general for the UN peacekeepers in Rwanda during the 1994 massacre. Pretty cool guy.
Love your reactions!! 🐘🐘
You have fallen in with opera, and spesificaly Pavarotti. I wish that you lived in Oslo, and was a friend of mine. Listen to more opera singers now, darling. Maria Callas, Jussi Bjorling. Mario Lanza!
Tears from my eyes.. this is one of my favorite pieces from opera.. that was from Traviata of Giuseppe Verdi.. the gratest opera composer ever (on my opinion).. that's all from the Italian culture wich I'm so proud to be.. a tyni part of.. thnx from me e from the culture itself..
So pleased you have Done another classical piece.
Honest reactions to a brilliant art form, thank you.
Your spirit just soars with classical music. I love it.
Your reactions are so pure James. Lovely soul.
I only subscribe to @5-6 people who do reaction videos, but you are my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE of all. You just love ALL music to the point where your emotions are very apparent. That’s rare for a man. I also love ALL music. Music is the universal language. Depending on how you are feeling, there are songs that can lift your spirits and change your mood instantaneously. You, like I, listen to music just for the pure joy it can bring you. But even if you’re sad, and have a darn good reason for it, you can find songs that say yea you know exactly how I feel. Don’t stop your reaction videos. TH-cam wouldn’t be the same!! God Bless 🙏🙏!
Gave me chills.
A master at work.
I got a chance to see Andrea Bocelli perform it live in NYC I went crazy. Bellisimo 😂😂😂😂 your reaction its priceless keep them up
"You don't have to know: you can feel it". You are so, so right. You have to (mostly) blame the composers for that: I've seen operas where the singers were just average (for opera singers: that's still awesome) and still cried. The great opera singers (amongst the tenors: Caruso, Gigli, di Stefano, Björling, to name but a few; sopranos: Callas, Sutherland, de los Angeles etc; and many others) tend to get the emotions flowing when you don't expect it. There is and was a lot of talent out there. Anyway, thanks for reminding us how we felt when we first saw or heard these arias: that "gosh" feeling at a new experience rarely, if ever, returns.
Oh my this is beautiful!
you are my favoite reactor ever. l love your pure joy! thank you
I love your classical music reactions. Please checkout the soprano Renee Fleming, singing Depuis le jour, live. Or Diana Damrau Queen of the night.
yes. i must second the queen of the night. this aria is from mozart's opera the magic flute and very few sopranos sing it as brilliantly as diana damrau. it is very difficult. try it as your first soprano aria.
