    I don’t think the issue is the strategy with QB but the kind of players that are in that area and the best ball format. As you eluded to only Lance had rushing upside in that group. The others had very low ceilings and high floors which isn’t ideal for best ball but can work in leagues to play the matchup. A lot of younger guys hit later too. The ADPs will change drastically now that they have had some success.

    HPPR 10 Man Standard League, All TDs 6pts, 2 Flex spots. PICK ONE FROM THESE KEEPER OPTIONS: (1 year hold)
    Justin Fields - FAA - give up 8th
    R. Stevenson - Drafted 8th round - give up 7th
    Jameson Williams - Drafted 16th round - give up 15th
    Christian Watson - FAA - give up 8th

    The thing with this though, is people will always overcorrect and the core principles will always remain.

    this year was wild. no legendary rb. rb dead zone wasn't a thing. wait on qb was a fade. just was a weird year

    I used Hero Rb approached in 6 of my money leagues. I drafted Allen & Mahomes early, and my most owned quarterbacks Hurts. I drafted him in the 6th & 7th rounds last season. I also had Arthur Juan in 4/6 of those leagues, and my most owned players was the Eagles as a team.

    On the positive side of the dead zone or later round rb issue it’s helps support zero or hero rb strategies because it shows how much rbs come out of nowhere, can be picked up during the season, and help you win. It also shows that you need to be flexible. Stick to your strategy but if there is a player you really want but it might not exactly fit the strategy, stick to your gut, and take the player. You can adjust as the draft continues.

    • @fsdafdsafdas
      @fsdafdsafdas ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Or it might also suggest that for RBs you may need to load up on the cheaper ones moreso than do the zero RB approach of filling them out to your flex and going + 2 WRs on your bench.
      If RBs now have the high win rate but are unpredictable in the middle rounds, getting as many "dead zone" RB lottery tickets to support a team built around safter WR/TE/QB high draft picks seems to be the one set up for season long success.

    GREAT VIDEO
    Really loved it and will def be rewatching this multiple times during the off season.
    I really don't think there's too many people watching your videos that are in "yahoo" redraft leagues so these win rates and deadball RB draft positions seem pretty relevant. Everyone is drafting the current year's meta and puts in the effort to at least watch a few videos before they do a redraft to learn the current meta lol.

    Next year you should make a time capsule of consensus ideas heading into the season such as "take a top 5 TE or wait until late" so we can get a good laugh when you open it in January.

  • @fireguy615

    I've been playing fantasy since we were clipping box scores from the paper. We have always drafted at least 1 or 2 bell-cow RBs in the first couple rounds, but not anymore. Elite WRs are now the priority to get the same kind of point scoring and typically better health in what is now a passing league, with "value" RBs like Pierce, Stevenson and Walker available in the later rounds.

    everything is cyclical. i understand that there hasn't been a legendary rb the last couple years but i would guess that we are just having a couple off years. there's some talent at the rb position that could easily generate what we are used to seeing at the rb position.

    • @fsdafdsafdas
      @fsdafdsafdas ปีที่แล้ว

      The last time this happened it was because the RB class was old and not as talented as the current one. These guys aren't old enough for that excuse so it's concerning.
      But perhaps for the cyclical trend if you want to bet on that then bet on the legendary draft class coming up and target those rookie RBs. Sadly everyone else was but like we always say, draft into the unknown for upside.

    Lots of good takes throughout the video bud - people need to do retrospective reviews (and acknowledge their Ws vs Ls) more often! Big props to you identifying Eagles offense as one to invest in, as AJB had no business falling as much as he did in all leagues. The change in approach on QB/TE (and when) will definitely be a big point of emphasis moving forward, like you said.

  • @ryantakach4559

    Can’t believe I missed on Herbert’s supposed mvp year this year. He killed my team. In keeper leagues, when any keeper misses, you are toast. It makes me gun shy moving forward

    • @hodoprime
      @hodoprime ปีที่แล้ว

      Dont beat yourself up over that. Herbert and the whole offense dealt with a lot of injuries.

  • @10owenj

    Like the content, one thing I would add is there is going to be a relatively strong correlation between those who picked RB early and therefore picked more WR in the middle rounds and those who picked WR early and therefore picked RB in the middle rounds. Therefore it is really likely that a year where the RBs at the top don’t hit, the ‘dead zone’ RBs will and vice versa.

    it blows my mind that people still don’t play supeflex… i’m so happy my leauges moved on from EPSN 1QB with kickers and a defense and a TE slot .. we have a WR/TE slot it’s wayyyyy better

    First congrats on the big W. You can't blame yourself for the Jacobs ownership, it was the beat reporters. I was lucky to ignore them... we ended up with 17% Jacobs in 497 leagues. Jacobs really smashed in a contract year, time to pay the man!

  • @qazzaqstan
    @qazzaqstan ปีที่แล้ว

    The early QB template makes a lot of sense (though I'd be surprised if I like Joe Burrow's price next year same with Herbert), there just a big difference when a good season means 21-22 PPG off 40+ TDs and 23-25 PPG off yards on the ground and a replacement level QB is still 18-19 PPG, the market has not corrected in the last 3 years. That said I'm still not sure I'm willing to pay the 2nd to 3rd round prices for the elite QB stack unless the prices for the rest of the elite QBs follow even if I did get burned on Josh Allen working out again.

  • @andrewhinman6928
    @andrewhinman6928 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why do you just ignore how phenomenal Justin fields was this year in fantasy
    The bears gave him designed runs and he popped off
    Plus they have so much draft capital that his situation can only improve

    use the first rounds to get 2 elite tier players in either category

    I say the only league I won this year was a 12 man ppr 3 wr and the people playing knew what they were doing. I drafted Eckler and Barkley in the 1swt and 2nd. Then went late on QB and got Wilson and Lawrence so it worked out well, got lucky tho

  • @kevinkendall477
    @kevinkendall477 ปีที่แล้ว

    What do you think is the best way to approach Najee and Cam Akers in 2023? Both enormous disappointments overall, but suddenly crushed way too late in the season?

  • @guitarninjarick8179
    @guitarninjarick8179 ปีที่แล้ว

    I mean it's still way to early to have a solid draft strat considering so much will change before redrafts start but a few things I am considering is targeting one of the top 3 QBs, fading TE, trying to get Bijan as my hero RB (depending on landing spot), targeting high end WRs, just to name a few but the landscape is going to change so much with the free agency. 2023 draft is going to look a lot different then last year in my opinion

  • @ianconnor4745

    Yeah pretty big swing and miss, but a lot of people were wrong man, in the same way. My big take away is to not listen to people who, at the end of the day, don't know anymore than me and to just go with what I come up with. I suggest you do the same Ron
