    I have some Colt 1911s and an STI 2011 Tactical 5.0 2011. They all shoot great for me. But when I retire in 2 more years. I am giving myself an Atlas gunworks 1911 as a retirement present. I want to enjoy it in IPSA/ EDC rotation . Gotta be a 45 also. You guys have really impressed this old Vet. Army tanker with your work. And its American made also. That is very important to me.

    my colt 1911a1 is 80 some odd yrs old and im still amazed at my ability to put shots exactly wear i want them. one raged hole. and its not finicky about ammo. its not a stock surplus pistol tho. it was re done with military national match parts. plus it came with a shoe box full of the original gi internals a micro adj rear sight and 3 two tone mags. the shop keeper told me it was almost worthless so i asked how worthless? he said hmm 300$ to witch i quickly handed him and declared it sold. i got the best 1911a1 in the shop for less than a new rock island gi pistol. the amount of work preformed would cost a fortune today! ive sought after quote non original guns with zero collector value ever since that fateful day! its funny it still has everything that makes a colt 1911a1 cool the us property mark the wb inspectors mark. parts have nm prefix. for 300$? i feel like i got lucky.

    Reference your mention of stacking issues (I just built my first Caspian double stack .45 government for YC Gunsmithing school) and with dummy's the mags are nose diving over 7 rounds in mag (EAA Witness magazines), with live ammo the only issue I am having is top round with 10 in magazine is failing to full seat in chamber causing an out of battery situation - quick slap to the back of the slide fixes it, but it happens every magazine. Thoughts? Recommendations? Yes, I know I jumped feet first into a hard gun build for my first 1911-ish build.

    Hi Adam! Quick question... Will it damage my 2020 model STI Staccato P 4.45 inch barrel pistol if I dry fire practice with it alot? Also slingshotting the slide without a round? Your expert advice would be greatly appreciated 👍🏾

    • @AtlasGunworks
      @AtlasGunworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Rene
      I haven't seen a lot of the newer staccato guns but if they are at least the quality level of the older sti guns then both dry fire and dropping the slide on a empty chamber shouldn't be a problem. The low quality 1911s use parts that are often weaker and can have premature breakage. Any quality 1911 should be able to withstand dryfire and slide drops. For example we have had one gun with 250k dryfire shots and 50k live fire shots finally wear out a hammer and sear. To get the many cycles you would need the best parts with matching hardness on the parts. This would be the top of the scale for longevity but most quality 1911 guns should be able to handle some fraction of this use. Lets say your gun is only 25% as tough as our gun. That's 75,000 dryfires or live fire shots on your hammer and sear combo. Hope this helps

    I have a question for ya. Should you feel the slide hit the disconector and it almost hangs up on return to battery. This is of course ridding the slide.

    • @AtlasGunworks
      @AtlasGunworks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All 1911s will have some felt engagement with a disco and the slide.
      With the trigger pulled to the rear and moving slide slowly you shouldn't be able to stop it on the Disco (hold it open on the disco).
      the real goal is to get the gun to return to zero so a little disco bump isn't a problem as long as it's consistent.

    I disagree with your statement that Bullseye shooters want very light and crisp triggers. Many Bullseye shooters like a roll trigger. Also, Bullseye/Precision Pistol has a minimum trigger weight requirement. 2 pounds min for rimfire and centerfire and 3.5 pounds min for the 1911 service pistol. You guys may be very competent but I doubt you build many Bullseye/Precision Pistol guns or you would probably be aware of the trigger weight requirements.
