It's not pretty, our bodies begin to betray us, and yet- we ALL want to keep living, no matter our ailments. I applaud this man for having the guts to appear on national TV.

Heat is a masterful thriller with stellar performances, Michael Mann's masterpiece, with a magnificent sound mix if you care about that sort of thing.

He apparently had a laryngectomy,removal of the "voice box".The hole in his neck is called a "stoma".It is permanent and is actually what he breaths through.Very sad.

There are many ppl behind the camera that do the big decisions... and the then upcoming Batman Franchise was not the first one that was sacrificed to the quick buck. That's why Two-Face and Riddler in Batman Forever are pretty much just Copy/Paste Jokers but without any character depth, because their actual characters go in a completely different direction. But the Joker worked that's why the then new movies needed another Joker. Or take Alien3 for example. The studio pushed out the first teasers AND a release date way before anyone got involved (not even a script writer). It's always the same problem if ppl without any feeling for the art of narration decide where the money is going.

For most actors Val kept himself busy almost every year up until this point playing in movies, For that guy to play in that many movies in his acting career is simply amazing.
Very happy to see Val Kilmer...huge fan. He is so talented & iconic. I want to see Val Kilmer in more films as he has the "stuff/chops" to make each character unique & memorable. Time will also make a difference as kicking cancer is a fight like no other. Keep on kicking cancer Val!!!!
He's a true hero in my eyes! It sounds like they've actually dubbed or altered his voice in the movie with his daughter. But, I'm so excited to see his spirits so high.
I had the pleasure to meet Val at a meet and greet in Hollywood in 2007. I was so stoked to meet him, all I could ask him was “How silly can ya get?”. He laughed so hard and replied “No one ever talks about that movie. Thank you for that.” His smile and laugh in this video was the same energy he gave that day. God bless Val!
I'm so happy for him and really glad he'll be in Top Gun again. I just watched the first one a few days ago, and man, as a kid I hated Iceman. But with my grown ass today I see that the character is so well written, he's the real protagonist and you will only notice it if you think about it.

Having said that it breaks my heart that he had to have a tracheotomy, I had two of my aunts who unfortunately are no longer with us that had copd and throat cancer and they had a tracheotomy and it was so heartbreaking to not hear their beautiful voice the same way. But again I'm thrilled that he's cancer free and doing well. We your fans love you Val no matter what and we wish you nothing but the best life possible.
He was in 'Heat', 'Willow' and (one of the greatest comedies/films of all time) 'Top Secret'. So going by just those three, I've probably watched Val Kilmer films about 150 times!

Val did some really great movies other than “Top Gun”. I loved his portrayal of Jim Morrison in “The Doors” movie, that was awesome. “Top Secret” was funny as heck too. He’s a really great actor. Cancer always hits the people that are the most talented.

Such a long list of movies that Val was in that I love! It all started with Real Genius for me, and continued with every movie he was in after that! Including Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang, Top Secret, and all of the rest. My all time favorite was The Saint.

People always talk about his great roles in Tombstone and The Doors, but one of his earliest roles "Top Secret!" featured his singing voice for the first time, and he had a great voice. It's a shame we won't get to hear it again, but I'd give up my voice to save my life too.

True my brother just had his tumor removed last yr and breathes out his stoma .and just got his tep which helps him speak

Such a long list of movies that Val was in that I love! It all started with Real Genius for me, and continued with every movie he was in after that! Including Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang, Top Secret, and all of the rest. My all time favorite was The Saint.

I just don't appreciate how underrated this actor is. He's so GOOD. And he's played such epic roles for me it was real genius, willow, at first sight (I cry everytime), the super (I think this was where you can tell he was sick) n batman forever. My favorites!!❤

People always talk about his great roles in Tombstone and The Doors, but one of his earliest roles "Top Secret!" featured his singing voice for the first time, and he had a great voice. It's a shame we won't get to hear it again, but I'd give up my voice to save my life too.

Not a great movie but Kilmer's Batman & Bruce Wayne were underrated. He was actuall quite good and way better than Clooney's epic disaster.
