Yikes. SG’s like this have lost the plot. The thing that makes SG’s cool is they’re all business, no fuss no muss. As soon as Gibson makes them all frilly with flamed/quilt maple and bling out the wazoo they just turn “meh” for me. As Swaffy101 said earlier in the comments, “just because they could doesn’t mean they should”.
And just like his comment, your view is a very boring and bland one. I say, "If you can do it, then why the fu*k not?!?! F*n DO IT THEN! Gotta live a little man, get out from under that rock AND LIVE a bit!😁 respectively, ofcourse!✌️ Now, with that said, I'd like to also say, I totally understand the view on the "no frills SG" and what they originally stand for as a work horse sorta thing.
how long has the crimson div existed? I have a friend who has a sweet red quilt LP with the flame inlay on the neck. I dont have any good pics but I think it has the circlet like the elegant...Idk. he calls it the devils guitar. said he paid $6ooo for it in late 90's.

I checked out the mod shop for this week. The two alpine white Les Paul guitars are beautiful but.....if I'm going to pay $5,000 to $10,000 for a new guitar... I'd be pissed as hell if it had any kind of blemish on it.
A friend of mine owned those 4 LP Ultimas. He bought a couple of them from The Acoustic Room (Landon Dutson, another friend). He sold them to another friend that has a reverb shop called Paul Frehley's Guitarsenal in Lenexa, KS. It's a small world in the Crimson Custom realm. I've been trying to buy an SG like the purple one and Gibson makes it really difficult. The Acoustic Room is a top tier certified M2M dealer. Even he has a hard time getting these. The wait time is very long. Sometimes 2 years or more.
I Truley Doubt Gibson fired JC, He's a fixer he comes in help struggling Companies and then brings them back turns things around and then leaves to go to the next company that's needs his service. He doesn't stay long ether. look at his resume he stays around 2 to 5 years then moves on.
I'd have to agree👍 It would be very strange to see a southern country/rock band playing a "hole in the wall" dive bar weilding THAT thang! (It'd be like a fat girl farting in church! Lol!)

There is not a player anywhere that would have something like that that you probably wouldn’t ever play. I sometimes like your reviews but these guitars are just for rich kids that daddy keeps happy by buying them stuff like this. It’s a shame too because guitar is made to be played not sit in a museum or a collection somewhere.
The purple top is undeniably gorgeous... extraordinary craftsmanship, yet all tacky enough to be right at home in the exaggerated apartment in Chump Tower.
I think the purple one is just a little bit too godly the blonde one it was beautiful with that Ebony fingerboard. Or maybe it was Rosewood. Whatever it was, it’s beautiful I like the lighter colored ones with the dark necks with the inlay in the neck makes a truly beautiful guitar. 1:02 - Now we talking! This is the SG that dreams are made of. I could never afford one of these, I'm sure. I would have to build my own. The only thing I do not like about this guitar is the plastics. The toggle switch tip and the pickup rings would have to be switched out to gold, black or dark purple (that's if you can find dark purple) pieces. White doesn't go well with this guitar.

those necks looked they were made in China or by a Chinese imported for the purpose. Not American designs.
I really love the Florentine cutaway,its my favorite of all the Les Paul body shapes. One word sums up this episode : DROOL

I don't like the wacky inlays on fingerboards. I'll stick with blocks or trapezoids.
Those fancy coloured SG's are all well and good. But nothing beats the classic burgundy SG's as used by George and Angus.

Some examples of other purple sg's were the SG futura plum insane & the robot SG standard in metallic purple
Extremely nice quilt nothing else about this guitar works for me well the headstock is nice as well
The Vibrola w/o the arm components are perfect to combat SG neck dive.
Making guitars into an art form ,i'd be afraid to put a finger mark on it let alone try to play it 😊
