- This video shows step by step how to make a floating core (core is not sew to the topper but sewn to an extra piece of fabric instead) & hidden PUL backer (the PUL can be slippery and plain so putting another fabric on the outside can make it prettier & more grippy).
Materials I used:
Topper-microfleece
Core- flannel (6 layers for heavy absorbency, I used up scraps) + 1 extra layer
Backer- PUL (hidden inside) & I used canvas for the pretty outside layer
Steps:
-Sew core together with zigzag stitch.
-Sew core onto the extra piece of flannel
-Layer the fabrics (PUL shiny side up, core layer, topper, & backer -topper and backer should be facing eachother) I drew my pattern on the backside of the back fabric
-Pin outside the pattern
-Sew with straight stitch on the pattern line. Leaving a Turn hole 1.5-2" wide unsewn on a straight side of the pattern for turning.
-Trim seam allowance. ~1/4" from edge. I used pinking shears around the curves. Snip into inner corners and snip off outer corners. Leave extra fabric at the turn hole.
-Flip the pad inside out (AKA the correct way). Reach between the topper & backer layer to flip correctly. A chopstick will help push out corners easier.
-Topstitch around entire pad, adjusting fabric as needed. ~1/4-3/16" from the edge of the pad.
-Add Kam snaps (my favorite), velcro (can wear out fast and snag other fabrics), or button + buttonhole on the wings for closures.
-Enjoy your beautiful new pad!
** This pad was apart of my monthly sewing challange on Tiktok. I picked a theme for each month and made different style pads in the fabrics I chose. January had National Houseplant Appreciation Day. I fell in love with this canvas fabric and it's not suitable as a topper (too rough) so I used it as a backer. Follow us on Tiktok for more sewing pad challange videos.

Hola, moldes por favor??
If you're asking about patterns to make cloth pads, we have some on our website clothconnectionoutreach.org
Curious as to why you wouldn't trace your sew line on the floating layer. It's easier to get the core centered imo.
