Ash has a lot of asprin in it and is a very good health tree. Sycamore bark has a laxative and emetic affect so if they don't need to poo or vomit animals are going to avoid it Sycamore seeds are also poisons to most grazing animals. It would be a good place to run pigs in though
That’s interesting I didn’t know ash had aspirin in it only knew about willow bark, also didn’t know about sycamore being laxative your right that could be why it’s not nibbled as much 😆👍
@@SmallholdingUK you know how sour milk can help roses with black spot, do you think there's something like that that can be sprayed on trees with mould issues? the sheer volume of liquid necessary would be a hurdle, but i do wonder.
Thank you so much, I’ve only been going 10 months so I’m happy I’m just enjoying doing the videos to be honest👍 I would say in a usual year about 6 sqm but this year with the gas price so high we’ve kept wood burner going 24/7 and I think I’m looking at about 12sqm so I really need to get more trees growing to future proof myself 😆
@@SmallholdingUK 12 (depending on how it is stacked) is quite average actually for a complete year round heating job. Though new build-like insulation levels would mean you'd only use 3-5! That would save your back :). If only it were free
Exciting to see so many trees to be planted. Interesting and helpful information.
Thank you
ever thought about sorghum sudan grass or something similar and making briquettes? or bamboo? or briquettes out of leaves?
I did try the newspaper brickets once but they produced loads of ash so I stopped using them
Quite messy aswell

Great video. Shame about Ash. But can't fault fungi, they do so much for us and nature.
They do indeed 👍

You deserve so many more subs! How much firewood do you consume on average yearly to heat your home?
