I loved this song so much that at age 8 I promised myself that if I ever got married I would walk down the isle to it. And so many, many years later I did!- September 2015. This movie is branded on my heart like no movie ever has.
The Land Before Time is one of my all-time favourite movies. Beautiful animation, fun characters, being able to pull at my heartstrings like few other movies can, this movie has it all.:-) As a kid I watched at least half of the sequels as well, and even though I realised they wheren't as good, I still liked them. Not so much anymore, but the original is still a masterpiece.:-)
One of the best and tragic childhood movies I've ever watched, especially given the fact that Judith Barsi (Ducky) was murdered by her own dad along with her mom. R.I.P. Judith Barsi (1978-1988) Yup, yup, yup
Wow, I totally forgot about that movie! I watched that movie like 10 times as a child. All those memories... the scene where Littlefoot's mother dies still makes my eyes watery.
Nice to see this review uploaded here now, and The Land Before Time was among my first and favorite Don Bluth movies ever. Even managed to get through several sequels, but I can still remember this movie largely scene by scene.
I really wish they'd release an art book for this film - you know the sort, "The Art of/Making of The Land Before Time." Anastasia got one, and the Iron Giant got one just last year, 17 years after it came out, so that can happen if the film's popular enough. The only concept art I've found in books so far are a handful of images from a 13 year old book by Don Bluth called The Art of Storyboard
It’s funny that I suspected that Sharptooth was actually an Allosaurus for a long time, and it doesn’t seem quite like the Mandela Effect, what with the agility and jumping skill being the most evident traits. Anyone can attest to this, via the original script or similar? Also, as a nice nod to that inexplicable tendency of predators to go for small morsels in these kinds of movies, I’m glad that they put it in how Sharptooth is blinded by Littlefoot’s use of thorns. Given how vital eyesight was to a predator’s survival skills (among others), it’s a nice touch that explains Sharptooth’s obsession with getting back at Littlefoot.
I recently found out how dark and sad this movie was and I haven't seen it since I was a kid, uuuuuuhhhhhh not sure how I never realized how dark and sad this movie was but geez ;-; when your older and understand everything that happens in the movies it's a nightmare to find out O______O but nonetheless I still love land before time no matter what
Used to be my favorite movie when I was a kid. Still my favorite Don Bluth film-I didn't appreciate Secret of Nimh or American Tail until I got much older
Wow. As a kid I only ever saw a couple of the many sequels. Like...4 and 6 maybe? I had no idea that the original was so vastly different to all the sequels.
8:07 though you have to admit, this scene also shows how Cera was ungrateful that Littlefoot's mom have saved the lives of both Cera and Littlefoot during the trio's brush with the Sharptooth before it (he?) passed out.
So what you're saying is, unlike the sequels and TV series, the original Land Before Time was made with effort, love, and talent. But I still love Chomper and Ruby, even though they're not in the original.
Have you heard about the deleted scenes from this movie? The SharpTooth sequence was much longer and more well put together than the final film, and there are some other things that were cut.
Marzgurl always wanted to ask you your opinion on two factors of this film. 1. Do you wish you could see the longer and darker lost version of this film, or is the original enough for you? 2. What's your thoughts on the heaven ending theory of the film?
+GodzillaFanForever 1 Part of me, yeah, wishes I could see what they weren't allowed to make. As for the Heaven ending, do you mean the idea that the Great Valley is actually Heaven? I have to admit, as a kid I questioned that possibility a lot. Like, it was some sort of place locked away from humanity, even now, where dinosaurs could continue to live in "happiness" and not ever be affected by the outside world. That sounds a lot like Heaven to me. But if I have to think of all the following 13 movies as canon, then I guess I can't do that. But even if that theory doesn't ever hit the mark, I think the idea that the narrator says at the end of the movie is nice enough, that they grew up and told their journey of the travel to the valley from one generation to the next. That seemed like a good enough ending to me.
Nice to see your stuff back on the internet! Are you going to be able to upload your marathon of Don Bluth movie reviews? or your reviews of the Don Bluth movie sequels? or your Disneytoon Studios reviews?
I found out later after I watched this many yonks ago that the Rooter scene was added in after psychologists suggested that kids would need a bit of an uplift after the death and worldsplitting. Story wise, it isn't needed. I know about 10 minutes of footage was cut out of the original film because some scenes were seen as 'too traumatic'. Mostly a lot of screaming and sharptooth destruction. Also Spike being introduced into the group, which...? No idea why that was cut. The ending was changed a little.... Then again, Littlefoot's mom's death scene was added IN to the movie so that kids would know exactly what happened and that her death wasn't his fault. Which, good call there. I think everyone meant well, but the Rooter scene was clunky to me back then and it still is.
+MarzGurl I guess I didn't remember, it has been years. Anyway thank you for the upload. It'll be good to see your old reviews again before the 14th movie.
Oh man, I remember this series of reviews you did. Talk about one of the weirdest cash cows to ever exist. Either way, the original movie will always exist so screw all those sequels.
CWDTrixie _"Ice Age"_ is like that as well, the way that an unusual animal group go on adventures together, like how _"The Land Before Time"_ is about an unusual pairing of dinosaur species going on adventures.
***** Yes, but Ice Age does not have near the amount of sequels to Alpha and Omega, and that series is closing in on Land Before Time in both number and lack of overall quality.
CWDTrixie But in terms of plot structure and unusual animal pairings they are somewhat similar if not too similar, also Don Bluth was originally slated to work on the original _"Ice Age"_ (2002) when it was in production.
As a kid it took me an embarrassingly long time to realize Spike was supposed to be a stegosaurus. For the longest time I thought he was some kind of nodosaur.
This was the only LBT video I saw, so I just thought it was for babies and that the first one probably wasn't that great. I still haven't seen it, but I can see its sequels DO NOT do it justice.
Hello I found your review to be insightful. You know I have a channel where I review movies and i have a review for this one so and I don't know if you would be interested to check it out and see what you think. Also this was my first video review so it might look weird at times haha. Good review again. :)
Rewatching this again after all these years makes the sequels that much more unnecessary. Continuity alone is jarring, wasn’t the outside world beyond the “Great Valley” almost completely uninhabitable and full of predators? Yet in all the sequels the outside world still seems full of life and herds walk in and out of the valley whenever they want. Do yourselves a favor and just stop at the movie one. I remember as a small child liking the direct to video sequels because they were less frightening but as an adult it’s clear that this should have been left as a stand alone feature .
the movie is good, but Pat Hingle's narration was very annoying and all-around unnecessary, with the exception of the opening and the closing. show, don't tell, Bluth!
is so annoying, lots of people all the time compare this film with bambi and disney animations. The land before time is another style of movie and give more powerful message than a lot of disney productions. Is just different!

Rest in Peace Judith barsi. "Yep Yep Yep"

Cera: that’s what she said
Littlefoot: *TRIGGERED*
Just rewatched this the other night and it will always be one of my favorite movies of all time!

This is with out a doubt my favourite Video of yours, thank you so much for re-uploading.
Thanks so much for re-uploading these! I hope you're prepared for the 14th installment Universal farted out recently!
I recently found out how dark and sad this movie was and I haven't seen it since I was a kid, uuuuuuhhhhhh not sure how I never realized how dark and sad this movie was but geez ;-; when your older and understand everything that happens in the movies it's a nightmare to find out O______O but nonetheless I still love land before time no matter what
Glad you uploaded this, I was pretty sad at the thought of never seeing this vid again because of blip dying.
Remember, Three-Horns never play with LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONGnecks!
Used to be my favorite movie when I was a kid. Still my favorite Don Bluth film-I didn't appreciate Secret of Nimh or American Tail until I got much older
The score still makes me cry
Love your reviews! You should make more.
Land before time really does have a lot of movies the more I think about it. Though no matter how many sequels none of them can top the first.
I remember it scaring the shit out of me as a kid. Maybe I'll rewatch it some day now as an adult.

I kind of thought Petrie's odd speech came about because pterosaurs weren't dinosaurs, and so wouldn't talk like them :S
nice hair. I like the pony tail

Ps you are my new favourite and that means a lot
The video seems a little squished. I've been looking for these. I thought they were lost with the Blip purge. Thanks. :)
+DarkraiNewmoon It was squished when I first uploaded it to Blip, too. So that's how it's staying, I guess.
+MarzGurl You can stretch the video to 16:9 by adding the tag "yt:stretch=16:9" (without the quotes)
+MarzGurl I guess I didn't remember, it has been years. Anyway thank you for the upload. It'll be good to see your old reviews again before the 14th movie.
+MarzGurl Hi Sweetie I Love Your Review Of My All Time Favorite Movies As A Kid And I Cried Too
Oh man, I remember this series of reviews you did. Talk about one of the weirdest cash cows to ever exist. Either way, the original movie will always exist so screw all those sequels.
+maugos Whats sad is that it seems like Alpha and Omega is the new Land Before Time, but not quite as good and with much worse sequels.
+CWDTrixie It's like LBT with wolves instead of dinosaurs
CWDTrixie _"Ice Age"_ is like that as well, the way that an unusual animal group go on adventures together, like how _"The Land Before Time"_ is about an unusual pairing of dinosaur species going on adventures.

I missed these videos. I hope you do more reviews soon. The more recent content has been kinda, shall we say... obscure.
Is there anywhere to see MarzGurl's reviews of the An American Tail franchise?
The Land Before Time is the greatest animated film of all time and no crappy sequels will ruin that for me!
Fantasia was better
As a kid it took me an embarrassingly long time to realize Spike was supposed to be a stegosaurus. For the longest time I thought he was some kind of nodosaur.
Land Before Time - The End of Time.
I'm gonna pretend that the sequels *NEVER* existed!!!!
+Xaviergray87 JERK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Xaviergray87 JERK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Xaviergray87 JERK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Xaviergray87 JERK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Xaviergray87 JERK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, sweet! Are you re-upploading your Bluth reviews? I missed those badly. :)
This was the only LBT video I saw, so I just thought it was for babies and that the first one probably wasn't that great. I still haven't seen it, but I can see its sequels DO NOT do it justice.
yes
...in animation history
I just spent the last 30 minutes trying to find out who did this review series I remember watching a hell of a long time ago
I spent about 2 minutes trying to remember the name of who did this review series I remember watching forever ago
Hello I found your review to be insightful. Boy you are so cool 😎
Why are there no comments here
I don't know buddy
We're the only ones here
Then the Direct to Video Sequels came..... V_V
LOL
Whatever did happen to your sorceress character? Did you leave her in a closet somewhere and forget about her?
+chapomon Psh, last I saw of her, she was crying barefoot on a couch. For all I know, she could still be there, five years later.
+MarzGurl My second guess was behind a futon crying about how bad one of the LBT sequels was.
How about time before land?😂😂😂
Rewatching this again after all these years makes the sequels that much more unnecessary.

Little foot mom is just remake of Bambi mom dying.
lol no
Did bambi see his mum die?
This is much sadder than bambi
is so annoying, lots of people all the time compare this film with bambi and disney animations. The land before time is another style of movie and give more powerful message than a lot of disney productions. Is just different!
