SIDE NOTE: One thing that a lot of people don't know and that is that Marilyn Monroe and Dorothy Dandridge, quiet as it was kept and behind the scenes, Marilyn and Dorothy were actually best best friends. However, they had to keep their friendship quiet because of the social mores and customs of the day. Not to mention the fact that if it were known that Marilyn Monroe was best friends with someone of color it could have hastened the destruction of both of their film and movie careers prematurely.
It's a beautiful home, beautiful design. What a shame to destroy it. However, I must admit that I would not want to live in it. The history would be too sad to live with.
Poor Marilyn - 43 homes and she only lived 36 years! That averages more than one new home per year throughout her lifetime. I hope the little Brentwood house brought her some happiness. I knew she had an enjoyable time looking for furnishings and planned - or had already started to plant - a little vegetable garden. She'd just won a battle with 20th Century Fox and was in a good place professionally and domestically at least - having asserted herself. I find it very hard to believe she just killed herself when things were otherwise improving for her. The house is charming and must have been a delight for her when she moved in. I too, believe it should be preserved. It's the only solid thing about her story that remains a monument to her life. The idea of it being demolished is heartbreaking. Monroe was the stand-out star of the 20th century and I think the owners should look elsewhere to create the property they want, and the city - and donors - should raise the money to buy them out and give them handsome compensation. People would be delighted to see the house as a small Museum to Marilyn's life, and I wouldn't be surprised if it couldn't be staffed mostly by volunteers as people are pretty devoted to her memory. It would be a money-spinner for the city and organised tours could be booked to visit with only a certain number of visitors per day - it would surely be booked for a year in advance. There has to be some way to prevent Marilyn's historic property from being destroyed. I hope it can be found.

The law recognizes that property is a valuable commodity - but this is a situation where the owner seeks to undermine an element of this property’s value: its historical provenance. There is a reason why applications for construction permits are posted publicly and the public has a right to voice their support or disapproval: Others may have an interest in what will take place on someone else’s land. This is how historic preservation areas are deemed lawful - and they, too, act to limit what changes can be made to private property. The owner’s strongest argument seems to be that the property hadn’t been given historic, protected status before it was purchased, leading the present owners to believe they could do with it as they wished. Yet EVERY historic property had once been an unprotected site - at some point, the status changes - and there is no set formula as to when, how or why something is deserving of preservation. This means that some property owners will, at times, be inconvenienced or burdened by a change in their property’s status. The question the court will likely ask is whether - when it was bought - these owners could have expected the zoning board to put limits on their use of the property. Are we seriously to believe the current owners didn’t know this was once Monroe’s home? Is it plausible to argue that they believed there would be no public objection to their demolition proposal? No, they haven’t: They already have a house to live in and enjoy. If anything, their desire for a larger plot of land is depriving some other potential resident of the area from owning a home. I don’t even see that the board has to allow owners to “join” properties which abut - if it’s in contradiction to the plans for the area and erodes the character of the neighborhood. The board has a great deal of leverage on their side, so I respectfully disagree with your prediction.
@@jenniferlynn3537 I doubt the owners "sought to undermine" anything. This is actually a simply case of a tear down and new construction allowed in this city. The fact that people have made it more than that remains to be seen. Yes there are all kinds of "permits" and such about building or remodeling, but that is standard. Hollywood should have bought it when it came up for sale. What kind of monster would pay £8m for a house only to demolish it? Surely anything built in its footprint would not be worth more money and give the owner a profit, after construction costs? madness!!!! Marilyn was luminous, a kind of beauuty only equalled by Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor.
The new owners have every right to demolish the home and rebuild if they so choose. As much as I am a proponent of preserving history in all its forms, I don’t feel this home of hers deserves monument status. Maybe the city of LA should offer to buy the home, over ask.
It is indeed lovely home but I think it been on hold for a while but if the owners are keen to demolish their home, why can’t they have a discussion with historical society or museum or whatever they are called in USA they can remove every single bricks and the rest of it, by bit by bit and moved to another location in LA and rebuilt it again and open to the public in a better way and then once the owner have the empty land and build it in more modern ways. Just a suggestion, that all.

Sorry to disagree, it is not historical or noteworthy for it's architecture design. She died there, so it wasn't happy for her. Let her rip and best wishes to new owners.
Hopefully the owners win the case, this house has nothing of architectural value to even try to preserve it, also it's pretty morbid to keep it just because she died there. Her impact on the culture is going to remain intact even without the house. It's pretty hypocritical to care about this house now when it has stood there for decades.
Wow what a cute child, and so sad to go through all that moving around from strangers. And being raped by some of the men who was suppose to protect her virginity❤. Love you toots see ya on the other side❤
This house lost its authenticity long ago, the renovations changed the entire feel of the place from the time she owned it. The kitchen is totally changed as well as her bathroom, most of the Spanish tile work was removed and even the wood logs and ceiling in her bedroom were painted white. Just awful, really.

Yep. So many emotional people who never had any kind of interest in the home thinking they can tell owners what they can or can't do.
Im really surprised this house is up for demolition as I thought that the Monroe impersonator Jasmine Chiswell lived there?
MR.PRESIDENT KENNEDY (JFK)FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU BEAUTIFUL MARILYN, HE WOULD BE YOUR 4TH HUSBAND BUT THE ITALIAN -AMERICAN CRIMINAL ORGANISATION KILLED BOTH OF YOU IN 1962 AND 1963, VERY SAD FINAL FOR BOTH OF YOU 😢😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤
Sorry to disagree, it is not historical or noteworthy for it's architecture design.
The first clone made for the president

100x more than she paid not 8 x ;-)
Wow what a cute child, and so sad to go through all that moving around from strangers. And being raped by some of the men who was suppose to protect her virginity❤. Love you toots see ya on the other side❤
This house lost its authenticity long ago, the renovations changed the entire feel of the place from the time she owned it. The kitchen is totally changed as well as her bathroom, most of the Spanish tile work was removed and even the wood logs and ceiling in her bedroom were painted white. Just awful, really.
Who care!!!
I just love your channel so much ❤ Thank you for this video!! 🫶🏽
