    If any IT person knows a core difference between a router and switch "Router is a unicast device and Switch is a multicast device", That person can easily differentiate between features of Router, Layer 3 and Layer 2 Switch

    This is how most of my TAs teach classes: just read the line on the powerpoint in 5 different ways w/ different emphases without explaining what any of it means.

    Layer 3 switches forward packets(ip pdu) w/ its hardware called ASIC(Application Specific Integrated Circuit). Routers forward packets w/ software.
