Yo I was reading the love live fandom wiki and I JUST found out Umi's hair was BLACK all this time?! Seriously I can't believe for YEARS I thought her hair was dark blue ಥ╭╮ಥ is this how it feels like to believe something for years only to find out it was all a lie? I mean I have rewatched LLSIP countless times too...
It definitely is dark blue. Japanese people often call things that are dark-colored "black", such as calling brown eyes "black eyes". Or it could just be that her hair was originally black. Since back when muse started in 2010, a lot of changes have been made, especially in character design. (Her old profile said her charm point was her long "black hair")
I think is because in animation they usually use dark blue instead of black, you can see for example Marinette or Kagami, both from Miraculous Ladybug and both been asian characters, or Violet and Paulina from Thea Sisters [not animation but is for children, still counts(?) xd] Cause you know, black isn't an attractive color -I think that's the reason xdd-
