- Just a bit of noodling, recorded in one take, first time so excuse the odd fluff. My soprano set-up is a cannonball stone series with an ottolink HR6* and a rico royal 3 reed. I am wearing the free cannonball tee-shirt that came with the sax in the vain hope that they might send me a new one.... who knows? FWIW it is a very nice sax, and good value for money (cue fake smile)

Finally a soprano saxer that doesn't sound like Kenny G
Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kenny g has a soprano sax sound; a much thicker sound than him. Tone quality more like an oboe. Like this guy’s improve. Good grove. 👍🏽 👍🏽 👍🏽
Matt Stone is an awesome soprano player 👍
A friend of mine has a Cannonball soprano that also sounds very good. Those are the best sounding Cannonballs I've heard.
This song and your almost perfect replica of the original performance was very appreciated and shared. It brought me some peace while rockets are falling all over my country (July18th, 2014)
sweet sweet tone. reminds me of my hero paul desmond in parts
I'm absolutely delighted! Your soprano fits the tune perfectly and the sound is wonderful. I wish my "noodling" was like this. Thank you again, Matthew.
Very nice, great sound!
From one Saxman to another...love it!
Wow this is absolutely amazing. Great work!
I may know absolutely nothing about sax(and music in general,) but I know what I like. Thanks for the tunes!
Brotherman,
That was AWESOME!
Beautiful!
Great rendition of one of my favorite tunes. Rich phrasing...it's like a lullaby.
Great sound Matthew, and lovely phrasing. Really enjoy this tune :)
Très joli travail + belle sonorité du Cannonball . Essai concluant : très bien !!!
Por fin un soprano sin efecto!!, limpio.
Very Very nice great sound on the Sop and good feel Miles would approve
Hermosa melodía en el sax soprano, algo diferente.....cool....clasico... un poco de todo.
Nice to see someone who plays the Rico Royal reed too, most saxophonists dis them completely! But I learned to play on them.
Wonderful !
Very awesome.
A delight to listen to, Matt! At times I hear a lovely amalgamation of soprano sax & flute sound. Definitely your instrument; keep it up, buddy!
I really like this.
Thanks for the info. I never knew that. I see alot of videos on TH-cam and alot of people seem to wear a set of headphones when they play their sax. I never knew "why". But, now I do. Thank you so much for sharing that my friend.
It's just a honey on (to) my ears. Beautyfull, peacefull, happy, nice, relaxing...oh, how I wish I could play sax ... maybe one day... :)
Awesome playing, keep them videos com
Excelente e inspirador! Felicitaciones!
That was really quite good.
Very, very GOOD!
I'm very like this sound!
You're very exellent musicman!
Great chops man ..... Sounds really good..!
Thanks for posting this clip man, i enjoyed it very much and keep up the great work, Miles and Coltrane are smilin' man....!
very nice sound! love it
You sound like like Paul Desmond on Soprano. I love Paul's sound. Awesome vid.
Very nice, cool man!!
superb... 10 + 1 with praise!!!
great sound as usual!
nice sound very well done
Loved that one mate.
Your tone is so warm. Great playing
nice sound and playing i love it!!
!!!!
Nice tone, uncluttered, fun, well done, love it! And great to hear some soprano. My soprano isn't my go-to sax but that's something I've often wondered about. I think the soprano should be celebrated more. Thanks for posting. You deserve more than a new t-shirt from Cannonball for showcasing their horn. Next time maybe you'd add a comment about what you use for the recording too.
Sounds great.
Jolie fraicheur qui rappelle Paul Desmond
Merci !
Wow! You're really good!
Nice tone.
Lovely sound!
Very good!
Always loved this song. Somewhat by miles Davis. Love this rendition
Great tone...Keep Doin It
Fantastic!
yo man i totally love this!
bueno bravo!!!!!!
This instrument is beautiful..... lol this sounds like elevator music. I've played the Alto in 6th grade and just switched to the Tenor in 7th a while ago when my Alto broke on me. My band teacher says I'm very good on it. :D I'm proud
If you stick with sax you will learn to appreciate a true professional sax sound. Listen to as much as you can it will develop your ear and make you a well rounded saxophonist
cooooool good work
Nice job. This and "Freddie Freeloader" certainly make excellent vehicles for improvisation.
muito bom mesmo cara !!!!!
parabens!!!
Great playing and tone!
J'aimerais bien connaître les raisons des 36 avis négatifs.......
Brillante interprétation de ce All Blues, bravo !
Very nice Matthew keep it going i need my weekly fix ;o)...
very nice job, i loved the tone you can get out of that sax
I just picked up a vintage Tenor Mark VI, now I want a Soprano LOL.
cool. I'll trade you a antiqua winds soprano for that mark 6.
GENIAL!!!
Just nice.. 👌
Sweet.
sounds great.
i want to get my hands on a soprano but im going to college soon and you need all the money you can get
Excellent
Wonderful! so i suppose you figured it out by listening and playing along. I set on that and hope to get there too. However, so far I can only get the slow parts and it took me a while to get those slow notes exactly right (I'm a beginner).
nice very nice!
Great job, but as a life long musician who had a No#1 Blues show on a top NY station, I will fight to the death that THAT is Jazz... yeah, I know the argument: Blues is a form of Jazz... but I was lucky enough to sing with many of the great Black Blues musicians of the South (like Muddy Waters, Jimmy Rogers, etc, etc) - who actually created the genre.... and not one of them strayed from the I-IV-V progression, which grew out of spirituals. In fact, most couldn't even tell you what Jazz was. But that said... I enjoyed it. Great Job.
Imho I'd say that as soon as you start putting in 2-5-1s, substitutions etc it's a "Jazz Blues".
This is Jazz. Blues is another thing !!!!!
it is important that you mentioned the black blues musicians...because you know...they are different than the rest, so its important to make the racist statement as a delimitation. Jimmy Rodgers isn't defined as being a musician...he should be defined strictly as being a black musician evidently.
nice matt. missed hearing you!
Very nice Mathew, very simple/uncluttered licks and riffs your playing and that's great to see for sure....so many folks think they need to be playing at 100 mph on their Sax. How does your Cannonball Soprano compare iwith other Sopranos? I'll be getting a Soprano Sax pretty soon. Good playing to you! :)
awsome bro
haha i tried them and i have to say i don't like their sound but glad to see someone does!
badass! thx
Awesome sound Matt, not many on You Tube sound this good, love it
Dope !
Bravo :-)
Suavissimo!
Nice interpretation
sounds cool.........
Excelente
Yeah... nice playing... and with the only saxophone worth listening to... the soprano. Thanks to Wayne...
Nice....trying to convince my daughter to switch to Soprano Sax because she is bored with the clarinet....any good advice to give to make the switch?
excellent. what horn do you play? what mouthpiece?
Muito bom!
What kind of camera aré you use for récord ?
May i ask you what kind of interface do you use?
Bravo!!!! I really would appreciate you putting all your recordings on a MP3 file to download. I think you should play quintessence (on alto) next.
What mouthpiece and Reed do you use on your Soprano Sax? Great song.
well done
Nice, I don't know if it's too late to ask but did you use any sheet music.
Man that's beautiful tone! What's that mic, btw?
Genial
Hello! In this video did you use an Otto Link 6? Beautiful sound!
good one matt! what's the backing?
your mouthpiece is otto link tone edge #6 or slant signature? I play my soprano sax with otto link tone edge #9
Soprano sax and mouthpiece that you are using in this video?
I really like your sound
Osvaldo
great job man.
how much was the soprano??
Very niiiiiiice! What's the Blues backing track you're playing to?
Yep. Eb Omni Book :3 I have one just like it.
Bro...that's the kind!
Are you using a backing track?
