This is not about withdrawing from the world, but about rediscovering our place in it. It is about finding a center of calm and clarity amid the chaos, a sanctuary of peace that we carry within us wherever we go. The call to “be still” is not merely a call to physical quietude; it is an invitation to a deeper, more profound state of awareness. It is a call to quiet the mind, to let go of the incessant chatter, and to awaken to the presence that is always there, always waiting to be recognized.

And as we learn to be still, as we learn to know the divine presence within, we find that this knowing transforms us. Last month I went hiking in the snow. When I was immersed in the forest I closed my eyes for a couple minutes, it was peaceful, no sounds , nobody was there. I felt part of the forest. I imagined that the trees, the snow and the birds were my brothers or sisters. I just let my body to feel part of the nature. It was a beautiful moment of silence.

So lovely. I experience similar, wonderful connections when in nature. Precious moments.
I feel the same way when I am in the desert.
I've also experienced nature that way. Have you ever heard trees or rocks speak to you? Sounds super wacky I Iknow, but it's amazingly wonderful.
Silence has been an ongoing practice during my now 80 years of living on this amazing planet. Silence calls me back when I "forget"...with a craving that's irresistable. If we could get the world leaders to practice silence, there would be peace.❤

In the silence I find clarity and peace. In the silence I find that my Father and I are One; and my Father is Greater than I. One love always.
I found this poem I wrote in 2013 about just this situation:

Just doesn’t stop…

I loved this. I meditate daily in silence for 16 minutes every morning. It has changed my life. I am healthier and at peace.

Finding time to be silent is not hard. Exercising in the stillness of morning before sunrise. Enjoying a meal in silence with a loved one and candlelight. Walking at the park. Laying in bed in the morning or evening and enjoying the peacefulness of doing nothing in the dark when the world is in quiet repose. Pausing during the day for one minute of breathing and listening to my hair grow. Soft music can drown out irritating noises. Earplugs can dampen others. Do what needs to be done with what I have, wherever I am, to restore my peace and tranquility. Thank you Brian for another delicious, transformative moment of awareness.

I write this to anyone who might doubt they are in fact God.
11years ago I had hit rock bottom and just wanted to die and was contemplating how. I had ask God to prove he existed if noting else then by striking me dead during a lighting storm I was standing in.
But he did not. The next day I found myself laying in the woods still enquiring did he infact exist.
And he answered loud and clear. Saying to me in my head. YOU ARE GOD. Due to my Christian up ringing I though this blasphemy.
But I still new it to be true some how. Here I set 11years later but getting closer to embodying that which I know I am.
I heard someone say something yesterday that felt so true. And I had failed to be able to describe it like so.. Think of ourselves as baby gods who need to learn how to yield our power in a way as to not do harm to others. Before we can be given such power. ❤

I love this, it's something I struggled with also as a former Christian. And trying to understand what exactly that phrase means.
@missygrrl most Christian churches skip over this scripture. There's also "lie upon your bed and be still" ,(somewhere in psalms). It's not easy to do in our very verbal society. Exactly because it's so simple..just take a few minutes at first to sit and do nothing. Probably will feel uncomfortable. Then add on a few more and keep adding until finally you feel the joy and peace bubble up from inside of you where God lives and breathes and has his being. It is wonderful.❤ much love to you

I jumped when I heard your voice again after two minutes of silence. The still silver lake was a good choice for inducing stillness. It seemed longer than two minutes once I was done but during the silence it seemed like forever if that makes sense.

I did feel the "getting lost in thought" kind of way. I love getting into this level because I feel a deeper connection to my conscience mind. I do have trouble sitting completely still because I start to feel an itch, or a muscle feeling "weird". I will need to work on that part.
